Chapter 750 Extensive Business Scope

Chapter 750 Extensive Business Operations (Second Update)

Stephanie Malik was somewhat puzzled by Natasha Romanoff's sudden arrival.

In her eyes, this female spy, who always maintained a distant relationship with the monarch, was someone whose direct control over the modified assassins was chilling. However, in order to bring her into his cause, Salomon had been subtly influencing her over the years, to the point that Natasha Romanov now accepted Salomon's ideas quite naturally.

Stephanie deduced some possibilities. At that moment, she was eyeing her new colleague, clad in matte black, custom-made power armor, with a mixture of envy and enviousness, trying to decipher Natasha's expression through the pristine white skull mask and crimson visors. She immediately recognized the power armor's unusual nature. This power armor, designed specifically for special operations, was not only incredibly complex in its construction (the blueprints and data disks alone filled more than one bookshelf, and she had handled some of them herself), but it was also extremely expensive; ordinary assassins could only be equipped with a simplified version.

Natasha Romanov's power armor is made with the finest materials; Salomon spared no expense to ensure maximum combat effectiveness and safety. Unlike ordinary power armor, the Assassin's power armor has more plates, is more flexible, and its more form-fitting design perfectly accentuates her figure. The integrated power source, readily controllable cooling vents, and radar-reflecting coating ensure the wearer remains undetected during stealth operations. Meanwhile, pop-out data ports on the gauntlets allow the user to quickly steal information and disrupt enemy communication networks. Furthermore, the alien-technology-infused weapons mounted on the arm and leg armor, along with the silently operating yet extremely powerful Olympus-class servo motors, enable the user to unleash terrifying power both on the front lines and behind enemy lines.

Not to mention, the power armor is equipped with magical technology jointly developed by Malbus and Salomon. As long as the energy is not depleted, it can perform short-range teleportation every few seconds, similar to using the [Stealth Step]. Natasha Romanov's power armor has an even more powerful teleportation device, capable of long-distance teleportation.

The head of the Interior Ministry sent the documents Natasha needed to the data terminal belonging to the assassination department. Natasha lowered her head, her fingers, encased in vibranium-plated alloy armor, tracing the data panel. After a moment, she nodded, expressing her gratitude to Stephanie in a satisfied voice. This wasn't an assassination list, but an investigation list filled with the names of the heads of the international financial consortium and their secret hiding places. Salomon needed Natasha to lead a few assassins to steal it. Only by understanding the intricate connections between those secret societies could Salomon truly eliminate them.

"He really spoils you, doesn't he? Spy!"

"Maybe, after all, there are all kinds of people in the Immortal City, and he needs all kinds of people," Natasha said with a light laugh.

She seemed to be implying something, and after a moment's thought, Stephanie understood Natasha Romanoff's meaning. She was quite certain that Salomon had revealed some secrets to the head of the assassination department, but since it came from Salomon's orders, Stephanie wouldn't question it, though that didn't prevent her from developing other feelings for Natasha Romanoff. However, she quickly glanced at Natasha's lower abdomen, then, with a smug expression, completely forgot the subtext of being an agent. Natasha Romanoff simply shrugged, seemingly oblivious, and walked briskly out of the Ministry of the Interior office.

Natasha loved the office building's decor. Compared to the minimalist, high-tech style of the Avengers headquarters, Immortal City combined opulent decor with advanced technology quite well; even the deep red wallpaper in the corridors had dazzling gold patterns. She figured the decor must have been custom-made by Salomon, and coupled with the paintings and sculptures throughout the corridors, the entire building exuded an air of great elegance.

The office building was quiet. Internal affairs staff passing by her walked silently and quietly. Since the near-death experience from overwork, some positions handling large amounts of paperwork had been replaced with employees who had undergone minor bio-modification. The bio-modification was located in the brain, and unless a roster was seen, these individuals were indistinguishable from ordinary employees by appearance alone, as most had shaved heads to dedicate all their time to work.

This was Hydra's modus operandi! Natasha Romanoff silently condemned Stephanie in her heart. After she agreed to join the Immortal City, Salomon finally revealed some of its secrets to her, including those of Hydra, the Avengers' long-time adversary—the Hydra that Tony Stark and Steve Rogers could now track down were all radical outcasts, enemies of Salomon, just like those secret societies of wealthy tycoons that worshipped evil gods. The Hydra members who joined the Immortal City belonged to the conservative faction; this part of Hydra had abandoned their faith and begun working for Salomon's ideals.

She distrusted Hydra, fearing that it would control the behemoth that was the Immortal City.

She must obtain the power that is rightfully hers as soon as possible.

"Agent Romanoff." Someone called to her from the end of the corridor. The lighting wasn't particularly bright; the pale yellow light resembled candlelight. Fortunately, her goggles had an enhancement function, allowing her to see who was speaking at the other end of the corridor. "I hope you can find your old rhythm in your work. I mean S.H.I.E.L.D., not the Avengers. Although we're in two different departments now, I believe we can still work together as well as before."

"As far as I know, you should be on an aircraft carrier in the North Atlantic right now, Victoria. Is it that my clearance is insufficient to obtain your location information?" Natasha removed her helmet, her red hair, which had been styled in a bun, becoming slightly disheveled. Although the assassin's helmet had a speaker unit and could communicate through a built-in communication system, she still preferred to speak face-to-face with old friends.

“Our superiors possess some secret technology, Agent Romanov. But I must say, returning to the Immortal City via the teleportation portal for a report is never a pleasant experience.” Victoria smiled. “Your next task will require the cooperation of the intelligence department. But before we communicate, please come with me; I'll take you to the factory to pick up your stealth aircraft.”

"Here? This is underground!" Natasha began to recall the internal architecture of the Immortal City. She was certain that neither the cargo elevators nor the passenger elevators that led directly to the surface could transport planes to Rome. Even the sky carrier she had seen in the Immortal City at the beginning was transported in through a portal.

Victoria did not try to hide anything from this issue.

"You probably haven't seen the helipad of the Immortal City. I guarantee you'll be blown away—"

"—You're right, Victoria, I really am stunned." Although the life support system in her armor ensured she wouldn't suffer adverse reactions from the excessively high G-forces, it would still be difficult for an unmodified ordinary person to endure such a situation. Perhaps to get her attention, as Natasha was launched vertically from the sea in her modified Quinjet, she couldn't help but exclaim to the intelligence department providing logistics, completely disregarding radio communication protocols, "The helipad is a water park! I just saw a water slide!"

"It's an unfinished water park," Agent Hand corrected. "It'll probably be completed in about fifty years."

"How could that be?"

"We contracted the project under the name of the local mafia because of money. To be precise, we are the mafia."
