Chapter 765 Speeding Up

Chapter 765 Speeding Up (First Update)

The heavy weapons squad switched their bomb pistols to automatic fire, while the assault squad placed their fingers on the chainsaws. The T (eta) squad had discovered traces of humanity, a fact relayed to the command squad via the command chain. The monarch's orders instructed them to maintain a safe distance from any creature that had left traces.

Although Salomon repeatedly emphasized to Agent Coulson and Fitz that the parasite infection wasn't progressing that quickly, the truth was that no one could be certain whether any living beings on the planet were already infected. Even though he constantly monitored the malicious activity, that was the dominant consciousness of the parasite swarm; individual nano-parasites had no consciousness whatsoever, and even the most powerful spellcasters couldn't detect their minds. Against intelligent beings, only extremely deep mental probing could detect infection by nano-parasites, and only advanced medical equipment could detect whether the nano-parasites were attached to the brainstem.

These are things that Team T cannot do; simple identification methods are completely ineffective. All they can do is keep tracking and wait for the command team to arrive. Through unified command, other teams will also change direction and hunt down the creatures that have left traces from different directions.

"Did we shake them off?" Simmons asked breathlessly. She had originally considered stopping to fight back, perhaps making a makeshift mine out of bullets. But Will rejected this decision without hesitation. He handed the pistol to Simmons, and then the two of them, relying on their familiarity with the terrain, tried to avoid the plains to avoid being directly exposed to their pursuers.

"Obviously not." Will lay on a huge shale rock stripped layer by layer by the wind and sand, carefully observing the distance through binoculars. The shadows cast by the distant mountains were blurred into indistinguishable patches of color under the azure moonlight. He could barely make out a few faint black dots, and that was all he could see.

"We left footprints, and they'll catch up sooner or later if we keep doing this."

"Maybe they were sent by S.H.I.E.L.D. to find me. Can't we really contact these people?" Simmons said, frustrated. This wasn't the first time she'd asked this question, but every time Will had rejected it, she knew exactly how he would argue. "Do those people have any markings? Like an eagle?"

“We can’t see clearly. But we can’t take the risk, Simmons,” Will said in a low voice. “Those people might be in cahoots with NASA, the one who threw me in. If that’s the case, we’re finished.”

Simmons nodded; what Will said was exactly what she had imagined.

If the monster Will spoke of truly existed, then his wariness towards strangers was understandable. In fact, Will had observed her for a long time before rescuing her, only bringing her back to the cave after confirming she was completely harmless. This planet had no morality or laws, only life and death, killing and survival; in such an environment, humans could only revert to their animalistic instincts. She didn't blame Will's caution, but felt that rescue was imminent, and there was no need to maintain a post-traumatic stress disorder-like behavior.

"That stone is now in the hands of my companion."

"Are you sure you'll remain the same after arriving on this planet?" Will squinted, trying to make out the shadows in the distance. "I also hope these people are your companions, but I think it's best to wait until we find a suitable place to observe them before deciding whether to make contact. What do you think, Gemma?"

He turned back in confusion, only to find that Simmons had vanished. Will quickly stood up and saw the female scientist running around the giant rock they were on, heading towards the shadowy mountains ahead, waving her dirty silk scarf as she ran.

"Shit!" Will jumped off the rock and chased after it.

He suddenly felt dizzy, his vision went black, and a pinkish-blue halo flashed rapidly across his retina. He fell straight down onto the Gobi Desert, littered with sharp rocks, his forehead and palms scraped and bleeding profusely—ever since he found Gemma Simmons, out of a sense of chivalry, he had tried to keep her from going hungry. In doing so, he had secretly reduced his own food rations, leading to his current symptoms of hypoglycemia. Coupled with years of malnutrition, his health had been deteriorating.

The pain dispelled the dizziness, and Will looked at the wound in surprise, immediately realizing that something was wrong.

He knew very well what bleeding meant on this planet. The story he told Simmons was entirely true; the monster was extremely sensitive to the smell of blood. The reason the monster was lingering at the cave entrance was because Will had been injured while searching for water that day, and it had smelled the blood flowing from his knee.

"Come back quickly!" he shouted anxiously. But Gemma Simmons paid no heed; she was convinced those people were Coulson's search party, sent to find her, and they must have found a way back to Earth. Will had no choice but to limp after them.

The sorcerer raised his head and keenly sensed the malicious intent emanating from the area.

The swarm of creatures had been drifting in the atmosphere with the sandstorm, but now the sandstorm, which stretched almost into outer space, suddenly changed direction and rushed towards Team T's position. He immediately transmitted this signal to the other combat teams through the command chain, and he also cast a spell that nearly doubled the movement speed of all armed personnel in the vicinity.

There was no time to search for Leopold Fitz; the baby squirrel had to survive for the better. He just wanted to get rid of that jerk as soon as possible, but his assault transports and sky carriers couldn't reach the planet, making it impossible to solve the problem with heavy firepower. This meant he had to use his magical abilities to compensate for the lack of firepower.

He began to cast a massive spell to counter the sandstorm the parasite was riding.

"Hurry up, girls. We might be facing that monster head-on."

"We have to speed things up, or Coulson won't last much longer." Mike stood in the hallway directing the medical staff as they moved the blood plasma. "Daisy, have them bring in the automated surgical equipment as soon as possible, and make sure they complete the sterilization process, otherwise Coulson won't survive the infection. Also, ask Barbara when she's finally finding that damn blood vessel!"

"Don't rush me! There's blood everywhere, we can't even suction it all out!" Barbara Morse didn't even have time to glance at Skye. Coulson was undergoing surgery on the operating table, but she didn't know how many pieces of shrapnel had severed how many blood vessels Coulson had. The emergency pre-operative examination could only be done visually. To prevent the shrapnel from moving further, the Immortal City's engineering team provided a powerful electromagnet to attract it; it was said that Tony Stark used this same device during his reactor removal surgery.

The Immortal City's solution is to reduce the electromagnet's power and perform rapid surgery using automated surgical machinery. However, before that, Barbara, as the second-in-command, must find that damned blood vessel!

"It's too deep!" She asked her assistant to wipe her sweat. "Tell Mike to wait a moment, we need more blood plasma!"
