Marvel Magic Case Files
Chapter 774 1 Shots
Chapter 774 One Shot (Second Update)
The command has been changed.
He listened to the indifferent voice coming from inside the helmet. After a complex key comparison and unlocking process, he was certain it was an order from his master. He didn't care about such trivial matters as why the mission objective had changed; it was irrelevant to him. He took a deep breath and carefully released the switch on the electromagnetic gloves on his hands. As the Quinjet swept over the mission target, he leaped lightly, landing silently among the low houses of Tangier's old town. He was a battle-hardened warrior; beneath his blood-red visors, the small black markings of an eagle wing and a sword on his eyelids, and the star-shaped tattoos surrounding his eye sockets, testified to his achievements.
The assassin leaped between low-rise buildings.
Even under a sky as bright as day, he could still slip through everyone's blind spots, like a ghost in the blazing sun. He quickly found a suitable position, unfastened his sniper rifle from the magnetic strap on his back, and then came to a complete stop. At this moment, the invisibility cloak he wore began to function after he became completely still, not only completely obscuring the assassin's figure but also adjusting its surface temperature to match the contact surface, preventing anyone from detecting the heat released when the weapon was fired using infrared thermal imaging equipment.
Daisy Jensen stepped over an overturned stall and continued running.
Unsurprisingly, she botched it again. This is extremely common for a field agent; every field agent must have a general plan and consider how to complete the mission if circumstances change. Only those capable of completing missions and meeting certain mandatory conditions can be considered qualified field agents, even if every field mission goes wrong. Daisy Jensen is striving in this direction; she must solve the problem herself.
The low-rise buildings, narrow streets, and numerous parasols in Tangier's old town all hindered Melinda May's ability to provide support. She couldn't utilize the Quinjet's powerful firepower, as firing the cannons there would almost certainly result in civilian casualties—something Agent Coulson would absolutely not allow. Furthermore, the target, Joseph Haddad's familiarity with the terrain greatly troubled the skilled pilot.
Daisy Jensen has to solve the problem herself, even though she recently took down nearly ten armed gangsters; she still has to deal with the last one.
"Stop!" She knew that whoever heard her shout that from behind wouldn't stop, but she still shouted it out as if it were a routine matter. If she had been an ordinary female hacker who dropped out of high school a few years ago, that chase would have left her so exhausted that she would have been lying on the ground, tongue lolling out, completely motionless.
"I have no weapon!"
Upon hearing this, Joseph Haddad ran even faster. This was exactly what the woman had said when she barged in ten minutes ago; he had originally intended to hold a gun to her to complete the deal, but now he saw the outcome.
"Force him to turn left." Melinda May directed Daisy Jensen, looking down at her target as he fled through the streets. "The left turn leads to the Freeport loading docks; I'll block him there."
"Roger that!" Daisy chased Joseph Haddad to a three-way intersection. She stretched out her palm and released her power, shattering the dirt road to Joseph Haddad's right. Sure enough, Joseph Haddad quickly turned left and ran towards the Freeport loading dock. A victorious smile appeared on Daisy's face. She only needed to block her target from behind to capture Joseph Haddad alive and then get what she wanted from him.
"He jumped onto the roof and tried to get into the alley next door!" Melinda May shouted. "Quick, after him! We can't lose him!"
Daisy Jensen had just stepped over the crates and onto the rooftop, using Joseph Haddad as a stepping stone. She felt she was losing control. As a local, Joseph Haddad always managed to find his way around, and she had no choice but to relentlessly pursue him. She absolutely couldn't let Joseph Haddad enter the alleyways, or she'd never catch him.
She felt warm water droplets splash onto her face.
Daisy, in a state of extreme tension, wouldn't have noticed such a small thing, but along with the warm water droplets came a severed leg. She was so shocked her breathing became erratic, and she had to slow her pace to look at her target—Joseph Haddad's leg was gone. It happened so suddenly that he hadn't even noticed. Only when he involuntarily collapsed did the pain overwhelm him like a tidal wave. Joseph Haddad lay on the ground screaming in agony, a large amount of blood splattering at Daisy's feet.
"Mei..." Daisy asked in a groaning tone.
"Get down, there's a sniper!" Melinda May swooped down in her Quinjet, using the fuselage to shield Daisy and the target. The dust kicked up by the hot wind almost blinded Daisy. "Stop the bleeding!"
"Who?" Daisy asked, skillfully pulling a tourniquet from her waist to bandage the wailing Joseph Haddad. Joseph Haddad was completely gripped by panic, and it took Daisy considerable effort to subdue him.
"I don't know." Melinda May knew her actions were extremely risky; she knew nothing about the sniper's weapon or location. After a preliminary assessment based on the direction of the target's blood, Melinda May understood that this was the only option to protect Daisy and the target. She could only hope that the Quinjet's bulletproof glass would stop the bullets. She pressed a button on the control panel, opening the side hatch. Her intention was quite clear: Daisy should bring Joseph Haddad onto the plane, and they would rest briefly before making further plans.
"We must abort the mission; we're not the only ones involved!"
"We can't stop the mission!" Daisy dragged the still-bleeding Joseph Haddad, leaving a long trail of blood on the roof. She dropped him onto the alloy floor as soon as she boarded the plane. She rushed into the cockpit. "To save Fitz and Simmons, we can only do so through the clues Fitz provides! We must interrogate him about the combination lock now. You cover me, get in and out quickly and get the mission done."
Melinda May glanced at her.
"Provide emergency treatment to the target; he is already in hemorrhagic shock," she said coldly. "Inject the target with a large dose of adrenaline, into his chest cavity."
"Mission accomplished." The assassin relayed the message through his earpiece, data flashing through the blood-red visor of his alloy skull mask. Wind speed, bullet velocity, light, humidity, and other factors that could affect the shot were all calculated and planned by the built-in computer. All the assassin needed to do was control his body to achieve these calculations. He had to perfectly control every muscle, adjust his breathing and heartbeat, and make himself like a dead man when he fired, minimizing any factors that might affect the outcome. He could do it; his enhanced bones and muscles supported him in making this superhuman behavior a regular occurrence. The first thing he was told after leaving the laboratory incubation chamber was about his abilities and the people he was to serve with them.
"Mission accomplished," Stephanie reported.
Salomon, seated aboard the assault transport ship, nodded. He had already arranged for a small team to be stationed near S.H.I.E.L.D., and the assault transport ship was carrying two bunker buster bombs. If his cleanup operation on that planet wasn't perfect, these two nuclear warheads could help him complete his final mission.
As for the astronaut named Will, he is currently in quarantine, although Stephanie has transferred him to a quarantine facility built by the Immortal City for monitoring. Salomon intends to speak with the astronaut, intending to compensate Will for the life he endured after being exiled to that planet by NASA, and to make up for the time he lost. In fact, at that time, NASA's selection of astronauts was not so politically correct; astronauts had to undergo study and training, and not just any transgender, Black, obese, gay, or Muslim person would be accepted. Not to mention that he had survived alone on an alien planet for so long, as long as he was not infected, Salomon was willing to hire him.
