Chapter 802 Intimate Battle

Chapter 802 Intimate Battle (Second Update)

Why didn't anyone tell me about this?

"You have the clearance to access this intelligence," Agent Hill shrugged. "But you haven't seen it, have you?"

“You know, I’m busy. Running a business… well, it’s mostly Pepper and Friday’s job, but that doesn’t mean I haven’t contributed. I also have to lobby in Washington, deal with those bureaucrats.” Stark took a deep breath; he felt his heart was about to jump out of his ribs. “Don’t you know what Salomon would do with a nuclear bomb? Can’t we negotiate with them to give up nuclear weapons, like we did with Ukraine!”

"I have Salomon's IQ test report here. Want to see it? I'll just tell you straight, he's not stupid, Stark. He's much smarter than you." Agent Hill rolled her eyes again. She was the de facto head of operations for the Avengers, responsible not only for coordinating their logistics but also for "monitoring" the movements of these unsettling members and providing guarantees to Congress and the White House, just as she had done at S.H.I.E.L.D.

"We don't yet know why Salomon would threaten Agent Coulson with a nuclear bomb, but Agent Coulson has known him for many years. The fact that he would rather kill his old friend than let something happen shows that the intelligence he possesses is extremely important and terrifying. We should trust his judgment."

"I didn't expect you to say that. I thought you disliked him. Is this some kind of professional psychological assessment?"

"This is Nick Fury's assessment, and it has nothing to do with whether I dislike him or not." Agent Hill made no attempt to hide the fact that she still maintained contact with Nick Fury. Although she claimed in Congress that she had no intelligence exchanges with Nick Fury, the truth was self-evident. "Nick Fury trusts Salomon's judgment; he believes Salomon is capable of making decisions that benefit all of humanity, setting aside personal factors. He said long ago that Salomon is just like him."

"Equally ruthless and merciless, equally willing to use any means to achieve their goals?"

"Believe me, this is a compliment to both of them."

"Damn... I'm starting to feel like what happened in New York is also related to Salomon." Stark stroked his beard. He ordered Friday to pull up the timeline and locations of the building destruction incidents that occurred around the same time as the plane crash. "Agent Hill, I need you to grant me access. I want to see all the surveillance footage from New York City today. Have Friday do a facial recognition scan; we might see one or two familiar faces."

A piercing pain, like delicate fingers, gnawed at Salomon and Bayonetta's minds, attempting to drive scorching nails into their souls. The air was scorching hot, as if baked on asphalt, and countless enemies surrounded them, yet neither Salomon nor Bayonetta showed any sign of distress. The arcane mage donned his helmet, the blood-red visors suddenly illuminating, scanning the number of enemies with crystal clarity, and beginning to mark and track them.

Even if an angel gets behind him, the power armor's detection system can still alert him.

Bayonetta fired the first shot, then immediately turned and fired at the enemy behind her.

Salomon quickly filled her place. He swung his fist, shattering the marble face of the lower-ranking angel [Tolerance] with a single blow. The explosive gun hanging beneath his left arm armor opened fire, its incredibly high rate of fire causing the bullets to shatter the arm of a centaur-like lower-ranking archangel [Glory] like an exploding warhammer. He stopped firing, not pursuing further, but instead changing his attack direction. Just as the wounded archangel thought he had found an opening and raised his spear to attack, Bayonetta's longsword cleaved him in two from top to bottom.

Bayonetta's fighting style was as graceful as a dance, like a constantly spinning bayonet. Salomon's fighting style was the opposite; he was like a heavy hammer, ruthlessly crushing all attacks. He used his holy sword and explosives to block attacks that Bayonetta should have dodged, while the witch seized the gaps in his attacks to launch deadly surprise attacks on the enemy. Spin, spin, attack. Their senses were connected, working in perfect harmony; Bayonetta could see everything Salomon saw, and vice versa.

After a few heartbeats, they changed their fighting style again.

The witch pulled the arcane into "Witch Time," a spell with heightened sensory abilities, making the surrounding enemies move like insects frozen in amber. Salomon ruthlessly wielded his blazing holy sword, slicing through enemy weapons and armor with incredible speed. The witch, meanwhile, drew a heavy machine gun from her hair and fired at the largest cherubim. As "Witch Time" ended, a waterfall of rosemary-scented blood erupted from the enemies surrounding them. The witch dropped the machine gun, leaped forward using the arcane's armor, and cleanly decapitated the wounded enemy with two longswords. Salomon then activated his jetpack, trailing a cone of flame, and plunged his holy sword into the cherubim's head on the greatsword.

The serpentine seraph swooped down from the sky, its giant metal claws crashing down on the sorcerer and the witch.

A crimson orange shield appeared out of nowhere and forcefully blocked the terrifying attack, sparks flying out like an explosion. Bayonetta turned and blew Salomon a kiss, then leaped onto the Seraphim's head, stepping on the crimson spark shield. Salomon first jumped to the other side, killing the one-armed mid-level Exorcist [Faith] with his holy sword, then quickly activated his jet engine and followed. But instead of attacking the head like Bayonetta, he cast a spell on the Seraphim's limbs—Cathorak's Crimson Chains, heterogeneous crimson ribbons binding the massive Seraphim. He dragged the Seraphim in another direction to prevent its claws and teeth from reaching Bayonetta. The power from the Crimson Dimension left scorched scars on the Seraphim's beautiful red and white ceramic skin, the contrasting energy inflicting immense pain on the Seraphim.

The Seraph pulled Salomon and Bayonetta into the sky.

But altitude was never a factor stopping them from fighting. Salomon shut down the jet engines and instead cast flight magic. Bayonetta leaped from the seraph's shattered head, and a cluster of dark purple wings instantly sprouted from her slender back, the tips of which were tinged with blue. She loudly chanted an Enochian incantation, and an arm made of black hair emerged from the teleportation array. It was Lady Butterfly's arm; Salomon recognized it instantly, from its distinctive grayish-blue skin to its red fingernails.

Lady Butterfly crawled halfway out of the teleportation array. The female demon clenched her fists and unleashed several powerful punches at the Seraphim's serpentine head, each fist as tall as two Salomons. Her force instantly shattered the Seraphim's beautiful porcelain skin, twisting and deforming the golden ornaments embedded in its surface, embedding themselves deep into the Seraphim's flesh. Perhaps feeling this treatment of the Seraphim was too gentle, Lady Butterfly grabbed the Seraphim's metal claws with both hands, pulled the Seraphim close, and smashed its metal snout with her forehead. Even as the summoning time was about to end, Lady Butterfly still enthusiastically tore off the Seraphim's claws, grabbing its slender body and swinging it around wildly, like a child who had received a new toy.

"Remind me next time, don't speak ill of Lady Butterfly," Salomon said to Bayonetta, watching the seraph plummet downwards. The witch was currently clinging tightly to his neck, held in his arms, just as she had been when they first descended upon Noah'dune. The sorcerer restarted the jet engines, diving downwards at the speed of a fighter jet. They were chasing the unconscious seraph; they had to watch it die.

"Don't worry, little boy."

The witch chuckled softly. The howling wind did not hinder her thoughts; the sorcerer could feel her blood surging, her adrenaline coursing, making her want to do things that couldn't be done in public.

"Madame Butterfly likes you very much, I promise."
