Chapter 803 Who is he?

Chapter 803 Who is he? (First Update)

The seraph's red and white mosaic porcelain skin was already shattered as it plummeted downwards. Its crimson angelic blood congealed into irregular, blood-red diamonds high in the sky, only to be smashed into fine, blood-red powder by the arcane mage swooping down from above. The heat from the jet engines either melted the blood powder again or vaporized it, leaving a long, galaxy-like trail of golden light behind Salomon and the witch as they crashed into the shadows of the mountains.

Even high in the sky, the witch remained agile. She skillfully executed movements impossible for ordinary humans, her long, serpentine legs wrapping around the sorcerer's arm. She turned, sitting as if a lady were riding a horse sideways on Salomon's shoulder armor. The witch drew an M202 66mm quadruple rocket and pulled the trigger, firing four M72A1 armor-piercing rounds at the still-falling seraph—weapons modified by Rodan possessed astonishing destructive power. For this mission, Bayonetta had specially ordered a batch of ammunition targeting creatures of the higher planes (Salomon provided the materials, Rodan handled the modifications), and the M72A1 armor-piercing rounds she fired were among them.

According to Bayonetta herself, these weapons are just as hot as she is.

Salomon wasn't amused; his gaze remained fixed on the town below. The kinetic energy of the Seraph's fall, combined with the explosion of the M72A1 armor-piercing rounds, had shredded a small section of Noah'dune's town, sending plumes of smoke and dust billowing up and completely obscuring the Seraph's remains. At that moment, he was extremely grateful for his decision to spend a large sum of money to evacuate the local residents; otherwise, who knows how many casualties would have occurred.

"I hope the jewels on the angel haven't been shattered," Salomon said, facing the ruins of the brick and stone buildings. The seraph had a large shield-shaped ruby on its forehead, and a rarer round purple diamond was set atop its marble face. He longed to dig out those two jewels before the seraph died, to make jewelry for Bayonetta and Joan of Arc, but the current situation simply didn't allow him to do so; Madame Butterfly hadn't considered jewels when she struck.

"There's something there, Boya!" Bayonetta jumped off her shoulder armor and pointed to a bright yellow object in the ruins.

Salomon's electronic eye zoomed in on the image and scanned it, confirming that it was a person.

Based on the detection, it was likely a minor or a dwarf. Salomon told Bayonetta this, and the witch, who had initially wanted to go and help, was stopped by him. With the crisp click of the bomb gun's bolt being cocked, the automatic detection system's electronic eye had locked onto the object.

Although the witch possessed extensive combat experience, she was completely ignorant of battlefield search and rescue procedures and the protocols for identifying friend or foe. Salomon, after recruiting S.H.I.E.L.D. and Hydra agents, underwent extensive training and knew that the appearance of unfamiliar targets on the battlefield always carried potential risks, especially when it was temporarily impossible to distinguish friend from foe. Not only had most of the local residents been evacuated, but even those who hadn't left couldn't possibly have entered the Shallow Aether (Purgatory, Limborghini) plane. That this person not only entered the Shallow Aether plane but also survived the horrific fall of the Seraph, and that initial reconnaissance indicated only some bruises, was itself quite incredible.

After confirming there was no threat, Salomon walked over, grabbed the man by the collar, and pulled him out of the rubble. Throughout the entire process, the muzzle of the explosive gun on the left arm of the power armor remained aimed at the man's head; if the man made any movement, the explosive gun would instantly fire and shatter the target's skull.

"A little thing." Although the grabbing motion was somewhat impolite, Salomon still scanned the target's entire body, diagnosed him through the medical system, and determined that he was only unconscious due to the impact. The boy's long white hair was tied into a dreadlock, a hairstyle Salomon made no attempt to hide. He stepped out of the rubble and, with a gentle movement that was difficult for a power armor to perform, placed the boy on flat, rubble-free ground. He took out a pain-relieving spray from the pouch on his power armor's waist and sprayed it on the boy's bruised arm. The cold spray instantly pulled the boy out of the impact-induced coma, and the moment he awoke, he displayed astonishing speed and health.

The boy jumped up without hesitation. Then, without any doubt, Salomon's armored hand gripped his neck tightly, his slender neck in danger of being snapped at any moment.

"This is the first time I've seen an 'ordinary person' recover from a concussion so quickly." Bayonetta clearly sensed Salomon's sarcasm towards her reckless behavior, and in response, she kicked Salomon's leg armor hard. "If you don't want to die suddenly, stay here obediently, or don't do anything else," the arcane mage said to the boy. "But I have a question for you, and I think you can answer it. For example, how did you get to this plane? Did you come in on your own, or was someone brought you here?"

The boy raised his face defiantly, "Who are you?"

"Don't answer questions with questions, you snotty brat!" Salomon said angrily. "Next question. Who gave you that? Do you even know what that necklace is?"

Why should I answer your question? Are you going to break my neck?

"Is your hair color natural or dyed? Why is your eye color so strange?"

"Come on, break my neck, you bastard!"

Bayonetta watched with a smile as Salomon and the boy argued. Although Salomon kept threatening to kill the boy, no matter how rude the boy was, Salomon didn't take any further action, instead trying to threaten him with a menacing tone. It must be said, the boy's courage was extraordinary; neither he nor Salomon was willing to reveal any information about themselves. The comical argument only stopped when Bayonetta brought out three times the amount of hot drinks from the still-intact shop, suggesting that Salomon and the boy take a break.

The complete death of a high-ranking seraph is no small matter, especially for the angels after Jubilus's death. When Jubilus was resurrected, almost all the high-ranking angels sacrificed their souls; however, that grand sacrifice resulted in the witches' cooperation and Jubilus's demise. The once numerous high-ranking angels are now few and far between, and the leader of the angels received the news directly.

"There he is, isn't it?"

"Yes... I will never forget that face..." A man wearing a golden mask and a white robe stared intently at the image projected by the detection magic. Although his eyes were hidden by the magical mask, anyone could see that his gaze was closely following Bayonetta's every move. He watched as Bayonetta beckoned Salomon and the boy to sit on the bench to talk, and he twirled the spear in his hand slightly.

"Who is that person? Who is that man in golden armor with long black hair?" The man looked at Salomon. "And that sword, I think I've seen it before."
