Chapter 815 Killing Time

Chapter 815 Killing Time (First Update)

"You finally dare to face me. This is not your world, you shouldn't be here," the indistinct voice said.

The boy's headache flared up again, this time unexpectedly.

Salomon suddenly realized that viewing the boy as a time bomb was entirely reasonable, because the boy's headaches could also affect others. Previously, both Bayonetta and Salomon had assumed the boy's headaches were due to memories, that the image was merely a projector—not only could the boy recall things, but others could also watch the movie. Initially, Salomon viewed it with a mocking eye, even joking about the boy's projector function, but no one expected it to also have the ability to interact with reality.

"What was originally one should remain one; you must be destroyed!"

In the blurry image he displayed was a boy who looked exactly like him. Apart from the boy himself, the sorcerer and the witch could only hear indistinct words. The boy in the image seemed to simply wave his hand, and the boy in the real world was sent flying as if punched. This was on a completely different level. They immediately opened fire on the image while simultaneously rescuing the boy who had been knocked off his motorcycle and nearly fallen off the Bridge of Heaven.

"What on earth is going on?" Now they couldn't walk anymore, and no one could feel at ease until they figured it out. The boy who had been pulled up by the back of his collar by Salomon was also confused; he couldn't understand why this memory image had this ability. "Why are your memory images attacking you? What did you remember?"

"I..." The boy was dizzy and incoherent, his expression one of agony, seemingly unable to process his memories anytime soon. Salomon didn't dare to use magic to probe his brain right now. Such spells require a quiet, focused environment, and the recipient must be completely unprepared; otherwise, the uncontrolled magic could burn away his nerves and cause him to become mentally impaired.

What he wants is memory, not a prefrontal lobotomy.

They were in the middle of the Bridge to Heaven, a steep incline so steep that the motorcycles wouldn't have been able to climb it for thousands of meters if they weren't so powerful. The distance from the ground was considerable; if Salomon hadn't reacted quickly, the boy would have been smashed to pieces. The sorcerer gently poked the boy's head, trying to bring him back to his senses.

"Want some medicine?"

"Be careful, have you forgotten what I was in back then?" the witch said softly. "This isn't that simple. I don't think he'll remember until he reaches his destination. Put him down and let's take it one step at a time. The road ahead is long."

"Damn it, nothing's been easy since we got here!" Salomon shook his head and put the boy back on the back of the motorcycle. Bayonetta saw him suddenly turn his head, as if listening to something. Then Salomon drew his holy sword, startling the boy. The witch thought Salomon had discovered something amiss and was about to attack the boy. However, the sorcerer simply pointed the sword tip to the sky. Bayonetta reacted quickly, twisting the throttle and speeding towards Mount Finnbowent.

"What happened?" The boy was still in the dark and couldn't figure out what was going on for a long time.

However, he soon found out.

At first, the sorcerer and the witch were puzzled as to why no other enemies attacked the boy after the Archangel. Now it seemed the angels were gathering, intending to overwhelm the sorcerer, witch, and boy on the Bridge of Heaven through sheer numbers. Bayonetta, riding the roaring beast, pressed a switch, and two scorching plasmas melted the two centaur-shaped lower-ranking archangels who had just emerged from the portal at extremely close range. Salomon jumped off the vehicle, his jetpack blasting power, propelling him through the angelic remains to clear a path for Bayonetta—the lower-ranking archangels were just an appetizer; ahead, both the sky and the ground were covered with countless portals.

The sorcerer spoke briefly to Bayonetta, then was propelled by the thrusters into the largest creature in the sky. It was a high-ranking cherub wielding a golden greatsword, its face embedded in the hilt; Salomon had once killed one in New York.

At the same time, a missile, trailing a long plume of white smoke, accurately struck the largest of the higher-ranking angels. Instantly, a violent burst of fire and a deafening explosion swept across the sky. The assault transport ship, accompanied by the roar of its engines, roared through the air. The angels initially wanted to give chase, but those who tried to stop them were all smashed to death against the thick armor plates.

Catherine was so excited in the passenger seat that she was practically dancing around, wishing she could jump out and give those angels a good whack.

The heavy machine guns mounted on the assault transport ships opened fire at full speed, slaughtering the lower-ranking angels like cavalry charging into an infantry phalanx. When they encountered ultimate angels blocking their path, the massive cannons mounted on top of the gunships would fire, slamming supersonic explosive shells into the angels' bodies. Bayonetta, braving the gusts of wind from the missile explosions, burst through the dust and smoke, hurtling towards the summit of Mount Finnbowent. Salomon brandished his holy sword, his jet thrusters propelling him to a terrifying speed; the G-forces generated during his maneuvers would instantly knock someone unconscious.

Almost no angel could withstand his attacks for long. Even if they weren't cleaved in two by the holy sword, they would be smashed to pieces by his shoulder armor or knees. Even the largest cherubim was pierced through after being subjected to the effects of his technological creations. Yet, even with the help of assault transport ships and arcane mages, the number of angels was still outrageous. Many angels changed targets, heading straight for the witch and the boy.

"Little thing, hold on tight!" The witch pulled up the front of the car, turned around, and leaped onto the handlebars, facing the pursuing angel. The wind howled in the boy's ears, forcing him to lie prone on the seat and cling tightly to anything he could.

"Why are there so many angels!" The boy had barely opened his mouth when a blast of cold air filled his stomach. "How many more are there?!"

"No matter how many there are, just kill them all!"

Bayonetta drew her pistol, pointed it at the angel, and pulled the trigger. The first, rapidly advancing silver bullet left a small dent in the angel's armor. The subsequent bullet struck the first bullet precisely, like a chisel repeatedly hitting the same spot until it pierced through the armor and flesh, shattering the angel into a bloody mass with scattered white feathers. She tiptoed, her figure graceful, dancing a close dance with the passing angel and the sharp blade.

Let us dance! Until death do us part!

The android piloting the assault transport vessel used its superior maneuverability to dart left and right, carving a bloody path through the dense array of angels. The corpses of lower-ranking angels and fragments of mid-ranking angels rained down, the sky filled with scattered, blood-stained feathers. "Open the ramp hatch!" Catherine commanded the team to activate the steel wing thrusters. She tapped her toes excitedly, her steel boots clattering against the steel plates. She gripped the hilt of her longsword repeatedly, seemingly wanting to activate the power blade even before jumping out of the cabin. "Sisters, it's time to kill!"
