Chapter 835 Sincere Education

Chapter 835 Sincere Education (First Update)

"Sorry, it's you! I didn't notice!" The boy smiled rather embarrassedly.

However, Bayonetta remained vigilant, continuing to block the path leading to Rosa's back, preventing anyone from approaching her mother. "I'm still showing you the way, just like before! Looks like someone sent you back five hundred years." Just as the boy was about to continue, Bayonetta fired another shot. However, the bullet was blocked by the boy. He didn't seem surprised by Bayonetta's attack, instead displaying a "I knew it" expression. "Looks like you've discovered the truth. They didn't call you 'left eye' for no reason, did they?"

"Let me guess what your relationship is with that little thing..." Bayonetta took a few steps with a relaxed expression. "I didn't expect your taste in clothes to be so bad now that you've grown up, Prophet."

"You're really clever." The prophet glanced around to make sure he didn't see the person he didn't want to see. He laughed, his voice as gentle as a fallen leaf drifting on a tranquil stream. "But even if you recognized me, it doesn't matter. The witch and the sage are still alive. Two vile ants, I must get rid of them as soon as possible. I want their things, I want mine back, which is the Eye of the World." Bayonetta didn't show the expected surprise. Thanks to Salomon's extensive memory and the books in Kamar-Taj, plus the clues provided by the boy's memories, she and Salomon had almost figured out the facts. She already knew what the prophet was saying. However, she still felt that this future guy with terrible fashion sense was now wearing the exact same face as that boy, which was still a bit eerie.

"My other half has escaped to the future, and I can't entrust the Eye of the World to him. That's why I'm killing you, my sweetheart!"

"Is that all? Try harder, I can't feel anything."

Bayonetta scoffed, leisurely dodging the several translucent ghostly arms extended by the prophet's spell, as well as the rain of azure crystals. She retreated while firing, luring the battlefield away from Rosa. The witch's plan worked; the prophet seemed quite taken to Bayonetta's taunts. Once she was certain the distance was sufficient for her to unleash her fists, the witch with her dark left eye immediately stopped. She drew two longswords called "Asura" and charged forward, instantly closing the distance to within weapon range, barely allowing half the length of her melee weapons.

"When a girl tells you to go harder," the witch swung her two longswords with incredible speed, the magical blades repeatedly slashing at the same spot, painstakingly severing a ghostly arm. Before the prophet could react, the fist of Lady Butterfly, summoned by [Shadow Weaving], slammed into him like a warhammer falling from the sky. Bayonetta spun and kicked back, adding to the terrible blow, successfully knocking the prophet off the cliff. "That means you're not so good, little guy."

"This isn't enough, my dear." The falling prophet floated up abnormally, her ghostly arm suddenly extending and piercing the cliff face, forcefully breaking the rock where Bayonetta stood from the cliff and throwing it into the sky like a rocket rising from the ground. Bayonetta, along with the massive rock several meters long, pierced through the clouds in an extremely short time. As the upward acceleration slowly disappeared, the giant rock began its unstoppable descent. The thick atmosphere rubbed against the rock, and the air, compressed by a terrifying force, rapidly heated up, turning red-hot, like a meteorite burning from outside the atmosphere.

"A persistent man is never popular." Bayonetta cast a spell, standing firmly on the rock enveloped in scorching air. Without hesitation, she launched an attack on the prophet floating above the giant rock. This battle was even more dangerous than before. The witch not only had to dodge the ever-growing ghostly arms within a few square meters, but also had to avoid the scorching air and the constantly peeling, burning hot small rocks.

The prophet believed he could achieve at least half of his goal this time, obtaining at least one Eye of the World.

Salomon continued to follow in the footsteps of the Sorcerer Supreme, and along the way he was attacked by angels more than once.

The Sorcerer Supreme of this era seemed to be testing Salomon's swordsmanship, thus allowing Salomon to wield his sword and kill. However, to avoid the commotion affecting the reality at hand and to prevent the angels from discovering a tough nut to crack and coming to attack, the Supreme Sorcerer used a mirror dimension to shield Salomon from the gaze of other angels, preventing other potential enemies from seeing anything that was happening here.

"You shouldn't have used your arm armor to block that sword." After what seemed like the umpteenth battle, the Sorcerer Supreme said reproachfully, "Even Uru metal and vibranium are not indestructible. You'll lose your arm sooner or later if you keep doing that."

"At least they only left scratches on the armor, didn't they?" Salomon said breathlessly.

Fighting an angel several meters tall without activating his stigmata was indeed troublesome, but only slightly so. He caught his breath and recovered. He knew the Venerable One didn't want him to use his arm armor to block the several-meter-long golden greatsword of the high-ranking cherubim [Heroism], but he was pursuing maximum damage. His berserk fighting style of trading blows not only psychologically suppressed the enemy but also achieved tactical objectives in the shortest time. As the battle was about to end, the cherubim even felt fear on a psychological level, making it unable to lift its sword. In the end, Salomon used the greatsword to pin it to the moss-covered rock wall—at that time, the cherubim was not completely dead; its true spirit resided in the face on the greatsword. However, Salomon shattered the marble and ceramic on the face with his fist, peeling away the bleeding muscles and tendons, letting the cherubim howl in agony. This scene even instilled fear in the mid-ranking angels, who all tried to escape the Mirror Dimension.

"Then the only thing I can criticize is your fighting style." The Venerable shook his head. "It's so unlike a knight's style."

"Teacher, combat isn't an art, but a pragmatic philosophy," Salomon said with a smile, looking up at the fire-lit sky and the falling meteors. "Knights are just a class, and I won't let the culture derived from a class bind me. To achieve victory, I don't mind using any means necessary. That's the lesson you taught me, isn't it?"

"Perhaps I'll agree with you in the future, but for now... well, I agree too. Anyway, we've all done pretty much the same thing." The Sorcerer Supreme thought for a moment and then laughed. It was obvious who Salomon had learned from; if the Sorcerer Supreme had to blame anyone, it would be himself. "That's just a beautiful vision in education, like parents teaching their children not to lie, only to fail to do it themselves. Now that you've come this far, there's no need to insist on such hypocritical rhetoric." While the Sorcerer Supreme was somewhat lacking in educational skills, he was honest with other Sorcerers. He wouldn't hide anything his disciples needed to know, and he wouldn't even mention things his disciples didn't need to know, much less deliberately incite competition between Loki and Thor like Odin did.

"We're almost there. You'll witness the end of the witch race and the impact you've had," the Venerable said. "After that, I need to leave Earth to deal with some issues. Just as you guessed, because of this turmoil, the extradimensional beings won't be peaceful. Kamar-Taj's main forces are currently deployed to the Sanctuary and the Pain and Redemption Isles in the Scrambled Realms. But I'd like to test you further: can you guess how to return to your own time?"
