Chapter 842 Titans
Chapter 842 Titans (Second Update)
"I am Aesir, the God of Chaos! I am the master of the Eye of the World!" The prophet tossed the unconscious boy back. He nonchalantly watched the others' alarmed expressions, then smiled at them all. "Take him. He's nothing but an empty shell to me. Witness your death!"
Salomon took the boy and cast a spell to erect a Seraphim Shield, shimmering with orange-red sparks, blocking the explosion, debris, and sound waves. Even the elite mortal soldiers were somewhat overwhelmed by such a scene, and even the usually oblivious Andrew was a little bewildered. But Salomon had no time to consider the soldiers' mental well-being, because something even more astonishing was about to happen.
"Reinforcements are on their way; let's leave the rest to the wisdom of mortals."
Salomon, anticipating the prophet's arrogance would give him time, calmly pointed to a few inconspicuous shooting stars in the sky and spoke loudly. This was the foundry project, which the Sorcerer Supreme, Malbus, and he himself had been involved in, and so far only an experimental prototype had been obtained. Considering that they would face more enemies similar to the Chaos God Asar in the future, Salomon ordered the Martian foundry to prepare. This is why Malbus was able to respond so quickly when Constantine requested Martian support according to Salomon's orders; the Martian foundry had already completed the necessary logistical work for departure.
The prophet slowly descended from the altar and approached the crowd huddled in a corner.
Salomon dismounted, slung the Holy Lance over Pegasus, and continued casting protective spells. To the prophet, this was merely a mortal struggle; these protective spells were hardly an insurmountable barrier. He even stood before the shield, taunting Salomon, claiming that this meager magic couldn't even delay him from obtaining the Eye of the World for a second. The prophet wasn't lying. The protective magic from the Book of Vishanti couldn't hold him off for long. He merely touched it with his finger, and the Seraphim Shield, capable of withstanding meteors, burst like a soap bubble.
It seems that no one can stop the prophet from wielding the power of the Chaos God Aesir.
Bayonetta and Baldr were merely holders of the Eye of the World; the Chaos God Aesir clearly possessed far greater authority, and almost no one could stop the Prophet from seizing it. Although the cause and effect were unknown, the unparalleled pressure still chilled the mortal soldiers to the bone; only the Sisterhood could stand firm with sheer willpower. Baldr gripped his spear tightly, preparing to strike the Prophet when he broke through the protective magic. Only Bayonetta remained relaxed, confident in her countermeasures. Constantine was the same; he saw nothing to fear. Arcane magic and chemicals had long since erased fear from his mind. He stood firmly beside Salomon, ready to fight alongside him at any moment.
Just as the prophet was about to continue his taunts of Salomon, two twenty-meter-high drop pods, like two enormous cannonballs, crashed down from the sky with a thunderous roar, slamming into the platform atop Mount Finnbowent, which had been churned up by the artillery fire. As the recoil system activated, the engines spewed flames and white smoke downwards, resembling the dust from a chemical rocket launch. For a moment, it was as if a volcano had erupted, and the entire Mount Finnbowent trembled. The siege artillery fire had somehow shifted its target. Simultaneously, a dense swarm of assault transport craft surrounded the summit of Mount Finnbowent, leaping from the ramp hatches—virtually all the Sisterhood's mobilizable armed personnel—and beginning a massacre of the surviving extradimensional creatures.
Constantine replaced Salomon and issued the order. Salomon demanded that the Sisterhood use this time to cover their retreat. No matter how unwilling Tita was, the current situation was not something ordinary people could participate in, let alone those mortal soldiers whose hearts were already filled with fear. Asking them to continue fighting here was tantamount to ordering them to their deaths.
The prophet was also puzzled by this sudden situation. He waved his hand, summoning a gale to disperse the smoke and dust. He saw that the heavy alloy plates of the drop pod, painted deep red, were covered with traces of atmospheric erosion. Hundreds of bolts, each as thick as a person, used for fixing it, exploded one after another, flying everywhere like bullets. Two bipedal machines, loaded with a large number of weapons and heavy armor, strode out from the sloping ramp that had crushed almost all the extradimensional creatures present. The mysterious cannons engraved with runes on their shoulders emitted a dim light. Mysterious energy from the astral plane was poured into the core of the machine without being filtered or integrated. This energy even made the prophet feel threatened.
Salomon removed his shield at the opportune moment.
In an instant, he activated his Holy Mark, drew the Holy Sword from his waist, and used his unparalleled power to deliver a devastating blow to the shocked prophet. The two massive cannons on the shoulders of the bipedal war machine, controlled by an extremely advanced fire control system, rose swiftly, and the arcane pulse cannons aimed and fired mysterious black beams, precisely striking the prophet who had been blasted into the sky.
"What on earth is this...?" Bald gasped, taking a deep breath of the air filled with the stench of ionization, dust, and exhaust fumes from burning chemical fuels.
Even without the Prophet as their target, the war machine continued firing, this time targeting the giant extradimensional beings attempting to block the evacuation of the assault transport ships. The Sage witnessed the war machine crush a Quadruple Angel with a single shot; the mysterious energy seemed to be some kind of magical black hole, creating a vortex of souls to shatter the souls of extradimensional beings. Even a secondary weapon could easily kill an extradimensional being. However, what shocked him even more was not just this terrifying war machine, but the figure jumping off the last assault transport ship.
"Rosa!"

The Battle of Finnbowent marked the first time the terrifying war machine was used in actual combat.
Prior to this, I had never known that such terrifying war machines, like those of the Titans in mythology, actually existed. Even now, the Martian Foundry has not opened its records on this subject to me. However, I did glean some fragments from the monarch—that even now, with war machines being used on a large scale to form legions, the war machines I saw at the Battle of Finnbowent were still quite extraordinary. They were products of a high degree of integration between magic and machinery, and I firmly believe that the monarch personally participated in their construction, for he is the most outstanding alchemist and sorcerer I know. He seemed to have some concerns about such war machines, claiming that each use of one came at a terrible cost.
After that, Kamar-Taj dispatched a large number of personnel to a top-secret location, which I speculated might have been for maintenance of the war machines. It could also have been for destruction—I think this because all the soldiers who participated in the Battle of Finnbowent and reached the mountain altar were brainwashed, while I was spared due to my clearance. The soldiers could only remember the first half of the war; their memories of the war machines in the second half were hazy. They only remembered a red dragon and sword emblem.
This part of the mystery has been lost to history forever, because Mount Finnbowent and the town of Noahtun no longer exist. There are only uneven plains left, nothing more.
