Chapter 878 The Shadow of the Coup

Chapter 878 The Shadow of a Coup (Second Update)

Prince Nijchob's son, Nijadaka, was actually on S.H.I.E.L.D.'s special personnel list, not only because he had a Black Panther Party father who "seriously threatened American public safety," but also because he later became an extremely ruthless mercenary. While other Black Panther leaders were either monitored or "shot eight times in the back and committed suicide," Prince Nijchob died at the hands of his own family, simply because King T'Chaka considered his ideas too radical. One wonders what King T'Chaka would think now, walking through the slums of America, but at the time, he believed that bloodshed in revolution was wrong. For this reason, Salomon never considered him a true partner.

The Immortal City had fought against local warlords in Africa and knew their methods were not much different from those of Middle Eastern Muslim terrorist organizations. Prince Nijjadaka, son of Prince Nichobu, was one of them; he left a scar on his body for every person he killed. Such a person would be under close surveillance by S.H.I.E.L.D. if he entered the United States. However, smuggling into the US was far too easy; any smuggler with some skills could do it. Therefore, Nijjadaka was never arrested within the US. Meanwhile, US foreign intelligence agencies and the military were either busy with drug use, drug trafficking, or fulfilling orders from domestic tycoons; they had no time to deal with such a lowly mercenary.

Nijadaka certainly wouldn't have imagined that the person he was dealing with was a former S.H.I.E.L.D. agent.

After taking over part of S.H.I.E.L.D.'s intelligence network, Immortal City began contacting Nijadaka. In other words, Immortal City is now Nijadaka's financial backer, and Nijadaka himself had previously slaughtered various indigenous warlords in Immortal City's African colonies (ostensibly called the Company). This was Victoria Hand's idea; she thought that since they were going to pay the mercenary Nijadaka anyway, why not let this notorious mercenary do some work—until Salomon told her about Nijadaka's importance, Nijadaka moved to the rear, fighting against the anti-government (the government controlled by Immortal City) armed forces funded by diamond conglomerates, banks, and oil tycoons. Generally speaking, he was the anti-government force, working for hundreds of warlords who held considerable power across the African continent; after all, armed coups in Africa don't require much cost or force. Thanks to the excellent matching mechanism in the African region, the heads of government are all spineless proxies. They may only need to occupy a radio station to declare the coup successful. Therefore, for Nijadaka, becoming a member of the government army is a rather novel experience.

Regardless, Nijadaka is now an absolute hero to those in the Immortal City colonies.

Now there are schools, houses, factories, and large-scale farms there; things that were never there before have been acquired under Nijadaka's guns. Even if Nijadaka didn't realize the current situation, he could sense that the Immortal City was vastly different from the capitalists who used to employ him. He never imagined that war could bring prosperity and peace. If he were to look back at his father, Prince Nicholas's, belongings, he would surely find this sentence in one of the books—"Political power comes from the barrel of a gun." This is the path that King T'Chaka rejected. The Black Panther Party of today has lost its former backbone; even with rifles on their shoulders, they dare not pull the trigger, their courage less than that of the black gangs in the slums.

"Nijadaka!" A middle-aged white man, wearing a knitted sweater, faded camouflage trousers, and mud-caked military boots, entered the cave where the government troops were temporarily residing, his hands raised. He only lowered the assault rifle he had been holding to the leader's back when he reached him. This government force was not only equipped with the same weapons as the US Army, but its composition was also quite diverse. There were anti-government officers from South America, black mercenaries, and white agents. If Agent Coulson were here, he would certainly recognize the Latina woman leading the group as his old acquaintance, Camilla. The Immortal City had rescued her from the Peruvian government's guns, and she now belonged to Sofia's department.

To the outside world, Camilla is dead, but the one thrown into the mass grave is a petty thug.

"Nijadaka is now on a mission." Camilla's gaze shifted from the television screen to the agent. "What are the orders?"

"I can't say, dear Camilla," the agent chuckled. "You know how the big bosses operate."

“Sophia promised me that I wouldn’t be kept in the dark about any orders in this area.” Camilla pulled a pistol from its thigh holster and pointed it at the agent’s head. The atmosphere in the cave instantly tensed; the soldiers who had been idly chatting and smoking immediately put their hands to their weapons. During her time leading this team, Camilla had earned the soldiers’ trust through her excellent tactical skills. “I kept my promise and led the government forces into battle. Now it’s time for the Immortal City to keep its promise.”

"This wasn't an order for you, Camilla, I can't reveal it. It was a mission for Nijadaka alone. I couldn't recall the order until I saw Nijadaka, and I forget it after giving it." The agent's smile vanished. "Don't forget the big bosses' ability to hide secrets. If they don't want you to know, you won't see a single word. Think about how much the big bosses spent to get you and your companions out. If I die here, to erase this cost, a missile will launch from the warship and land centimeters from you. Even without the missile, without the Immortal City, you won't have bullets or food, and you'll soon die in this forest. You should learn a lesson: never disobey the Immortal City's orders."

Camilla stared intently at the agent's face. After a long pause, she said, "I'll call Nijadaka and have him come back."

"Thank you, Camilla." The agent's face broke into a smile again. "I knew you wouldn't let the Immortal City down."

"Shut up, now get out of the way and don't disturb my viewing of Downton Abbey."

"Can I stay and watch it together? I missed a lot of the plot because of my business trip."

"The order has been delivered, and Nijadaka is on his way back to the United States."

This is an excerpt from a report submitted by Victoria Hand a day later. Accompanying Nijadaka to the United States was an entire container of weapons and several agents tasked with monitoring and assisting him. Salomon instructed Nijadaka to build a force in the US by recruiting radicals from the Black Panther Party, then bring this briefly militarily trained force to Wakanda to launch a coup. If T'Challa won, Wakanda's cooperation with the Immortal City would continue, and Wakanda would be annexed using war machines produced at the Martian Foundry. If Nijadaka won, the Immortal City could annex Wakanda, completely transforming Wakanda's technology into productive forces.

"Winner takes all." Salomon moved his pieces. "I'm always the winner."
