Chapter 912 Repentance and Punishment (Second Update)

The Immortal City's intelligence and internal affairs departments' biggest adversaries are multinational financial conglomerates and secret societies and wealthy families, such as the Moro-worshipping cult that Hilary Clinton joined, and the Wallenberg family, the Rockefeller family, and their cronies, the Clinton family's private army. This was Salomon's strategy from the beginning: rather than directly attacking the puppets they openly displayed, the Immortal City, with its powerful deep-strike capabilities and aerospace technology, directly hunted down these masterminds behind the scenes. No matter where they hid on this planet, they couldn't escape the Immortal City's armed spy satellites. Highly modified assassin drop pods were always ready to launch—these people thought they were completely safe after kidnapping military-industrial hybrids onto war machines, clearly not expecting to be attacked from a higher level.

They formed alliances through cross-shareholdings with financial conglomerates; they instigated infighting between the Democratic and Republican parties to prevent society from ever uniting; they used knowledge monopolies and religion to fool the lower classes, ensuring they could never find the truth; they used exaggerated conspiracy theories to drown out their existence in urban legends; they manipulated public opinion by funding internet media; they funded the assassination of opponents (such as the Black Panther Party); they launched foreign wars and genocide to plunder resources and then used the media to glorify their actions; and they overthrew opposing regimes by inciting populism, human rights, animal protection, women's rights, and racial discrimination.

If this hadn't been done, these guys who had absorbed so much social wealth would have been hanging from streetlights long ago.

Hydra is one of these clandestine groups. Its exposure stemmed from Alexander Pierce's brainwashing by the radical Hydra ideology, leading him to believe he possessed absolute technological superiority and brazenly revealing it in broad daylight. It would be an injustice if such a faction didn't fail. Those tycoons who committed far more heinous crimes would only point at Hydra and laugh, while simultaneously ordering government agencies to arrest Hydra and using the media and self-established international awards to whitewash and glorify themselves.

This contradicted Salomon's ideals, which envisioned uniting everyone on Earth, regardless of skin color, gender, or age. Therefore, there was no room for compromise between him and these organizations. Stephanie, of course, was unaware that Salomon's ideas came from a red-covered book. His ideas were so advanced that ordinary people couldn't understand them, and even the sorority closest to him avoided the opportunity to understand him due to excessive worship.

However, killing a few people wouldn't make them submit to the Immortal City's established strategy. The only correct course of action was to seize their assets and convert their wealth into the Immortal City's military equipment. Stephanie ambitiously executed this plan, replacing the conglomerates' companies with those established by the Immortal City, using unconventional business methods for acquisition and coercion. Gideon Malik, in turn, used the Immortal City's money and offensive to cultivate a group of congressmen and lobbying groups, leveraging their influence over legislation and Stephanie's media network to secure opportunities for the Immortal City.

The chaebols certainly know who their enemies are and have tried to fight back through the international market.

However, on one hand, the Immortal City's slow, debilitating treatment of the tycoons prevented them from resorting to desperate measures. On the other hand, after the Langley attack, the Immortal City copied the intelligence it had gathered and sent it to the various tycoons as a warning. The weakness and compromising nature of the bourgeoisie were vividly displayed under repeated blows. They also attempted to classify the Immortal City as a terrorist organization, but each time the Immortal City acted under different names and with unrelated groups. The other side only knew that Hydra was involved, so all the blame was once again placed on Hydra.

"See? You may be the king of spies, but you're just one of the countless weapons among those conglomerates."

"A weapon that has escaped control."

"A weapon that can be cut down by countless other swords, Hydra alone is something you can't resist, Nick Fury." Victoria Hand looked at her former boss through the camera on the holographic projection table. "Don't forget, you're still the leader of the terrorist Hydra. To protect its reputation, the US government has portrayed Alexander Pierce as a hero who fought against Hydra."

"Is this to undermine my confidence?" The King of Spies sneered twice. "This is nothing new; I already knew about it."

"Not only do you not try to change the status quo, you even participate in it. In a sense, you are indeed the leader of Nazi Germany, even if you are unaware of it. With your help, more innocent people have died in this world than during World War II, so stop using 'unnecessary bloodshed' as an excuse. Even pressing a red-hot knife to a wound is much better than dying from blood loss," Victoria Hand said calmly. "The monarch's purge of war criminals has already begun. You survived because you are human, Tony Stark survived because of his talent, and among the Avengers, only Steve Rogers is someone the monarch truly forgives."

"Now you're resorting to threats of death?"

“There’s no need. The monarch just wants you to know what you need to know, to understand his true ideology,” Agent Hand said. “What we wanted to know was already obtained through those Skrull prisoners; we made them thoroughly repent. Then we discovered your ignorance and stupidity. You have neither the courage to change the status quo nor do you know who the real enemy is.”

"Are your methods any different from mine?" Nick Fury turned around, sizing up the two First Secret Regiment soldiers of Fimbulb Winter standing in the doorway. "I've long seen through Salomon's true nature. He's the same kind of person as me, but he's far more ruthless and merciless."

“There’s a difference, because we know we’re fighting for the benefit of all humanity, while you’re fighting for some tycoons hiding behind the scenes. The children you see today are survivors whom the monarch rescued from those atrocities, and for that alone, he’s done hundreds of times better than you, or the Stark Foundation.” Victoria Hand laughed, brushing her red highlights behind her ear. “Even if you never profited from it, it doesn’t give you the right to be ignorant. Even if you were unaware, it doesn’t mean you can be forgiven. You need to repent, Nick Fury, for the sins you’ve committed against the human race. But don’t worry too much, the punishment you’re about to receive is far lighter than that of the real war criminals.”

"I have experienced war, and I have been captured."

“I believe you are not afraid of physical punishment, but we have professional interrogators who can break a person’s spirit,” Agent Victoria Hand said. Immediately afterward, two soldiers from the First Secret Regiment of the Fimbulb Winter, who were standing in the doorway, opened the alloy door to the cell, and a short-haired man wearing bulletproof armor painted with white skulls walked in. Nick Fury showed shock for the first time; he never expected this man to be here.

"He has already repented," Agent Hand said. "Now it's your turn."
