Chapter 920 Who is the Big Brother?
Chapter 920 Who is the Big Brother? (Second Update)
Compared to Nijadaka, Stephanie valued Camilla, who had served in the Peruvian anti-government guerrilla forces, more.
However, the Immortal City's current operations in South America require Camilla to be the commander. This experienced anti-government figure is simply too busy, and besides, she's not Black, so her lethality to Wakanda is obviously not as great as Nijadaka's. Even if Nijadaka is in a bad position, his status advantage outweighs his other disadvantages. The forceful claim to the right of succession is simply too powerful. Even if Nijadaka has ulterior motives, Salomon can only pretend not to see them—in fact, Salomon doesn't care about Nijadaka's loyalty at all. Loyalty or betrayal, as long as Nijadaka's interests are temporarily aligned with the Immortal City, that's enough.
Salomon needed a pretext to attack Wakanda, so Nijadaka was actually a "Count of Glamorgan".
"If they obey, they can be used as pawns; if they disobey, they are killed. It's that simple."
Salomon's words successfully persuaded Stephanie to drop the charges against the Earl of Glamorgan for his poor performance, and she even provided him with another batch of ammunition as instructed. The Immortal City only shipped weapons to New York, and even if Nijadaka could procure ammunition himself, it wouldn't be enough to sustain the enormous future consumption. Therefore, he had no choice but to continue relying on the Immortal City. He was unaware that Stephanie had already spoken to Wilson Fisk (Stephanie didn't think much of Wilson Fisk, believing such a partner was unreliable and would eventually die in gang warfare). The large quantities of ammunition from East Coast black market arms dealers absolutely could not be sold to Nijadaka; the only ammunition Nijadaka could buy were handgun and rifle bullets from Walmart.
Furthermore, Nijadaka's current recruits are a group of criminals who have not undergone military training, whose shooting skills are only slightly better than those of African warlords who rely on faith and momentum, and who are even disliked by judges (because they interfere with his performance evaluation). It would be truly surprising if he could still succeed.
Nijadaka wiped the blood from his hands, then pulled back the slide to check if there were any bullets left in the chamber. In the dim light, the still-warm shell casings lying on the concrete floor reflected the light. The early summer air was still a bit chilly, but the adrenaline rush from killing someone made him ignore the cold.
"Who else? You'd better hurry, I'm in a rush." He used the toe of his military boot to push aside the corpse's head and asked impatiently.
The body also had marks on its face that were not gunshot wounds, indicating that the person had been brutally beaten before death.
This idiot kept urging him to seize Wilson Fix's territory. After Nijadaka refused, he turned to recruiting other members of his group, attempting to kill Nijadaka and become the new leader. Nijadaka was somewhat helpless about this. He had already made his intentions clear to these people, but perhaps due to excessive drug use, many of the hardened criminals he recruited were short-sighted fools. Some of the smarter ones even collected evidence, preparing to act as tainted witnesses in the future.
The evidence was now in his hands, and Nijadaka turned and threw it into the burning empty oil drum.
The oil drum used for heating originally belonged to four homeless men, but they turned and ran the moment they saw Nijadaka with a gun, without pausing for a moment. Once the adrenaline-fueled blood cooled, none of the hardened criminals stood up to oppose him. He heard cowardice in his men's shoving and muttering—this was what he wanted. He was about to give his men a speech when the evening breeze on the rooftop gave Nijadaka goosebumps. Although he wasn't superstitious, he still felt this might be some kind of omen; even the screams of the nearby cats fighting bothered him.
Stephanie had no intention of letting Nijadaka off the hook so easily.
"We're now in FBI service, my lord." She hung up the phone triumphantly and reported to Salomon. "Everyone in the intelligence community is in service. My father spent a fortune to get us this opportunity under the name of the Congressional Black Ops Group. It seems quite easy to infiltrate the U.S. intelligence community now. I don't know how Alexander Pierce took so long; he's a complete waste of space."
Regardless of how much Stephanie despised the radical Hydra, given Hydra's "winner takes all" mentality, Salomon carefully reviewed her plan outline—Stephanie intended to place Immortal City agents within the FBI. Once Nijjadaka's organization attracted the attention of the US government, she would assign an undercover FBI agent to an Immortal City agent, sending them to infiltrate Nijjadaka's organization. This was actually standard FBI practice: ordering agents to infiltrate non-governmental organizations (truly non-governmental, without financial backing), instigate the organization's leaders to commit serious crimes, allowing the FBI to catch them red-handed, and then have the prosecution prosecute and detain them for felonies.
Due to their professional skills, some of these undercover FBI agents have even risen to the position of second-in-command within organizations, and it's not impossible for them to become leaders. This has happened before; many domestic non-governmental organizations have committed serious crimes that could be classified as terrorist attacks under the leadership and instigation of these agents. This is fundamentally illegal, and therefore, in recent years, the FBI has once again adopted the methods of Director J. Edgar Hoover, who dominated US intelligence for half a century, by investing in Hollywood to produce movies and television series about FBI agents infiltrating terrorist organizations, attempting to whitewash the FBI by projecting a virtuous image.
However, the most mysterious aspect of the FBI is not their daily work, but their agent organization.
No one knows exactly how many agents the FBI has (except for those who conduct interstate law enforcement), and no one knows whether their relatives and friends are agents. Even the current FBI director doesn't know how many people are under his command. After all, many agents cannot carry their identification with them, and many agents simply do not exist or have already left the company. These people are just there to collect salaries without working.
Local police often arrest people claiming to be FBI agents. Genuine FBI agents only need verification; some are imposters, but when local police call to inquire, the FBI cannot confirm whether the person is an agent not currently on file. Therefore, agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. in the past and those of Immortal City now frequently impersonate FBI agents because the FBI simply cannot keep track of them. Like the book *1984*, often cited by the US when touting freedom and satirizing the Soviet Union, it is completely unaware that it is the Big Brother. Whether it's the FBI collaborating with Facebook to investigate users, or conglomerates investing in Silicon Valley to manipulate the status quo through social media, everything aligns with George Orwell's descriptions—truly a joke of the century.
Nijadaka's organization will inevitably have FBI agents infiltrated in the future, so it's better to let the Immortal City do it themselves. On the surface, there are soldiers from the First Secret Service of Fimbulwinter monitoring them; secretly, there are assassins hunting down Wakanda's agents and the Immortal City's undercover agents who have become FBI agents. Even if Nijadaka has other plans, Stephanie can easily take his life.
Even back on the smuggling ship, Nijadaka knew that the Immortal City would never allow him to escape its control, and he also knew that his only path to survival was Wakanda. Only by entering Wakanda could he use its power to escape all surveillance and the mysterious assassin on the smuggling ship. To this end, he had to ruthlessly eliminate a highly respected criminal among his men and seize control of the entire organization in the most brutal way.
He was quite relaxed and under no pressure when he did these things.
