Chapter 116 Jiang Yan Wants to Move
Taddy picked up his phone, glanced at the time, and then stood up: "That's all for today. I have some things to do later. I'll go through the agreed-upon process tonight, and you can listen to it again when you come tomorrow."
"Okay, then I'll head back now."
Go ahead, be careful on the road.
Jiang Yan picked up his notebook and coat, and as he walked to the door, Teddy suddenly called him back.
"Jiang Yan".
"Um?"
"After you listen to the new version tomorrow, if there's anything you're not satisfied with, just change it without worrying about me. From now on, the songs for this group will be made together by you and me. It's not me making and you learning, nor is it you making and me reviewing. It's about making them together, understand?"
Jiang Yan gripped the doorknob, paused for a moment, responded earnestly, and then pushed open the door and walked out.
In the elevator, Jiang Yan took out his phone and glanced at it. There were two unread messages on the screen, both from Cui Xueli.
The first post is a photo of the clock tower at Seoul Station. The evening sky was dyed orange-red by the sunset, and the silhouette of the clock tower was particularly clear in the backlight.
The second message was in text: "I finished work early today, I'm going to pick up Min-jung. You go ahead with your work, see you at home tonight."
Jiang Yan stared at those lines of text for a moment, his thumb hovering over the screen for a split second, before replying: 【I'm finished here too, I'll be right back.】
After sending the message, he leaned against the elevator wall and closed his eyes.
Lin Xiaolu leaned closer to look at his phone screen, but he twisted his wrist and put the phone in his pocket.
"Stingy." Lin Xiaolu snorted and drifted to the corner of the elevator, hugging her arms and sulking.
After leaving YG headquarters, Kang Yeon drove his white Hyundai into the evening rush hour traffic.
As the car crossed the Hanjiang Bridge, the neon lights on the opposite bank began to light up, casting dappled patterns of light on the river surface.
The car was quiet. Lin Xiaolu was still pretending to be angry, floating on the back seat and turning her semi-transparent head to look out the window.
After parking the car, Jiang Yan turned off the engine. Before he could even take the key out, Lin Xiaolu floated out first. She then floated to the stairwell entrance, turned back, and stuck her tongue out at him: "Come on up, those two in your room are already laughing like crazy."
Are you laughing hysterically?
No, you can hear all of that?
Jiang Yan took out the key, locked the car, and carried his laptop and coat up the stairs.
When he reached the corner on the fourth floor, he heard laughter.
A crazy old lady laughed, and a sharp, shrill laugh rang out.
Jiang Yan peeked cautiously at the neighbor's door, afraid they might rush out, and quickly took out his keys to open it.
I was thinking that maybe I should move to a house with better soundproofing. Anyway, I have money now, so I don't need to return this place. It would be nice to use it as a secret base.
Next to the shoe cabinet in the entryway, Jin Zheng's sneakers were crookedly kicked on the ground, while next to them was a pair of beige low-heeled shoes, neatly arranged.
In the living room, several takeout boxes were on the coffee table. Chicken bones were piled up in the cardboard boxes, and water droplets condensed on the sides of two Coke cups. Next to them, there were several unopened boxes of stir-fried rice cakes and seaweed rice rolls in a plastic bag.
On the sofa, Kim Chan nestled in Choi Sulli's arms, burying his face in her shoulder and laughing so hard he was shaking.
Choi Sulli had one arm around her waist and the other holding a phone across their faces. The screen showed a filter interface from a selfie app, with a funny cartoon pig nose stuck to each of their faces.
"Oppa!"
When Kim Min-jung saw him come in, he jumped up from Choi Sulli's arms, still wearing a silly grin that he hadn't had time to shake off, his hair a mess.
"Mari unnie said she could braid hair, and then she braided it like this for me!"
She covered her mouth and turned around with a laugh, revealing a crooked braid on the back of her head. The braid started to go astray from the back of her neck, becoming more and more crooked as it went down. The ends of her hair were not even tied tightly and were already half loose.
Jiang Yan changed into slippers and walked over, reached out and picked up the braid to look at it, then turned his head to look at Cui Xueli.
The latter looked away guiltily at the ceiling, his lips pressed tightly together, clearly showing he was struggling to hold back.
Jiang Yan sighed, "Zhenli, all these years, your hairstyling skills haven't improved at all."
"Tch, it's just that I accidentally pulled out a tuft of hair when I was doing your hair as a kid, and you still remember that? You're such a stingy person."
Kim Min looked at this person and then that person, then naturally moved closer to Kang Yeon, tilting her little face up to complain: "Oppa, Jinri unnie's photography skills are worse than her braids. She took ten photos of me, nine of them were blurry, and the last one made me look like a squinty-eyed monster."
"Hey! Kim Min-jung!" Choi Sulli jumped up from the sofa and reached out to catch her. "You just said she looked good, and you said you liked Jinri unnie the most!"
Kim Min-soo nimbly hid behind Kang Yeon, peeking half her head out from beside his arm and sticking out her tongue: "I was just kidding, Pab."
Choi Sulli's almond-shaped eyes widened in anger. She bypassed Jiang Yan and chased after him. Jin Can took off running towards the master bedroom. The two of them chased and fled, making a ruckus in the living room, which was less than 20 square meters.
Jiang Yan looked at this scene and rubbed his temples, feeling a headache coming on. It seemed that moving to a new house was imminent. In two more days—no, he probably wouldn't even get through this night—the downstairs neighbors would probably come knocking on his door.
Choi Sulli chased after her twice but couldn't catch up. She leaned against the sofa armrest, panting, and shouted, "Kang Yeon, you need to control her!"
"Oppa, don't help her. She just said that you used to wear braids when you were little. Does she have some kind of leverage over you?" Kim Minchan hid behind the dining table, on high alert.
Jiang Yan finally couldn't help but laugh. He walked to the dining table, pulled out the two chairs that were blocking the middle, and then pulled the two people out from behind their respective covers, one in each hand.
"Alright, have you eaten yet?"
"We ate fried chicken," they both said in unison.
"Go wash your hands. I'll heat up some seaweed rice rolls. Fried chicken isn't enough to fill you up."
Kim Min-jung obediently went to the bathroom to wash her hands. Choi Sulli slowly followed behind her, and when she passed by Kang Yeon, she suddenly stopped and looked up at him.
"How was today? Did it go smoothly?" she asked in a voice only the two of them could hear.
"Don't worry, everything will go smoothly. With me here, there's nothing I can't handle." Jiang Yan reached out and ruffled Choi Sulli's hair, then quickly withdrew his hand. Choi Sulli silently smiled, turned her head to look at Kim Jung who was about to step into the bathroom, tiptoed and quickly kissed Jiang Yan on the cheek, then turned and followed Kim Jung into the bathroom.
Lin Xiaolu floated over the entrance hall, watching this scene, twitched the corner of her mouth, and silently turned her face to the side.
Jiang Yan cleaned up the takeout boxes on the coffee table, took the seaweed rice rolls to the kitchen to heat them up for two minutes, and then poured three cups of barley tea.
By the time he had put the food back on the table and rearranged it, Jin Deng had already come out of the bathroom.
She picked up a piece of seaweed rice roll with her chopsticks, blew on it, and then carefully took a bite. She mumbled, "Oppa, Jinri unnie said she'll pick me up every Friday if she's free."
Jiang Yan turned to look at Cui Xueli, who had just come out of the restroom. She sat down next to him as if nothing had happened, picked up her teacup, blew on it to cool it down, and said casually, "I don't have many things to do lately, and I'm free anyway, so it's no problem for me to pick up your child."
Upon hearing this, Kim Min-jung immediately became displeased, swallowed the food in her mouth, and solemnly declared, "Unnie, I'm not a child!"
Choi Sulli raised an eyebrow and reached out to rub Kim Jung's head: "Yes, yes, yes, our Jung is an adult, and also a future superstar of SM."
"Hey, unnie, don't use that childish tone!"
