Chapter 101 Li Ang's Actions
Chapter 101 Li Ang's Actions
Free time.
Eloi stood alone in the empty cell at the end of the corridor. Seeing Leon approach, she spoke, "Did you vote for Emily?"
"Why do you think that?" Li Ang asked, frowning.
"It's just a gut feeling."
Li Ang did not admit it, and Eloi did not press further; some things are best left unsaid.
As for why she subconsciously felt that Li Ang had voted for the other side, it was because that was the only possibility.
Emily was very timid. She spoke softly to everyone and never dared to raise her voice. She was also the least active participant in discussions, spending most of her time as a nodding listener.
She is the most innocent judge, and also the most likely to become a witch.
If I were in Li Ang's shoes, I might also vote for the other side and see their reaction.
Emily's reaction was also normal; she was just as at a loss and helpless, which made her feel extremely sorry for her.
How she wished that this poor girl was just an innocent victim caught up in this game, and not that damned witch.
"I need your help," Leon said, looking at Eloi. "If I get killed tonight, I hope you can chair the next voting session and keep them voting for Sherry as much as possible, or at least keep everyone in the running."
"May I ask why?"
In Eloi's view, identifying the witch through voting is also a method, although there is a possibility of sacrificing innocent people, it is better than letting everyone be killed by the witch.
Even if she felt reluctant, she would still make this choice.
But Leon's request left Aloy momentarily confused. Come to think of it, during the voting phase, they had everyone vote for Sherry, thus preventing anyone from being executed.
Could it be that this man has discovered something?
"I found the hidden rule in this game: if no one is executed for voting for five consecutive days, the trial day will begin, and everyone's identity will be forcibly exposed."
"I see." Eloi suddenly realized.
This rule seems to favor the adjudicators, but the condition of no one voting to execute someone for five consecutive days is too harsh, unless everyone agrees in advance.
However, this presents a significant problem: during these five days, the people will be unable to identify the witch through voting and will be left to their own devices to kill.
There will inevitably be people who can't withstand this pressure and instead hope to find the witch through a vote.
"Don't worry. I will do my best to get everyone to agree on an execution without a vote," Eloi assured him.
After giving a few more instructions, Li Ang left.
At this moment, Caltacia was in Bridget's cell, squatting beside the haystack that the jailers had cleaned up, twirling a blade of hay in her hand.
Even when Li Ang came up behind her, she didn't look up.
"What is it?" Caltacia asked, as if she knew the identity of the person from the footsteps.
"I want to ask you a favor. If I'm still alive tomorrow, I hope you can grant me one request."
Caltacia turned to look at him. "What is it?"
"I can't say right now. But it's related to your abilities."
"You know who the real witch is now?" the latter asked excitedly, looking at him.
"It's just a guess. We should know after tonight."
Caltacia was somewhat dissatisfied, but she didn't say anything, only leaving with a "I understand" before departing.
Boudica, sitting on a pile of hay in her cell, asked Leon when he appeared, "What is it?"
"I need you to follow someone tonight." Li Ang walked in and sat down opposite her. "Lilith."
Boudica frowned. "You think she's a suspect?"
"It's just a suspicion. After all, didn't she say she'd be checking Emily's identity tonight? So if you follow her, you can eliminate both of them as suspects tonight."
Boudica pondered for a moment, then thought Leon made a lot of sense. "Okay. I understand."
Li Ang then searched around and found Helena's small room, which was barely bigger than a prison cell. He knocked on the door, and without waiting for a response, he pushed it open and went inside.
Helena was sitting behind a narrow wooden table. When she saw Li Ang walk in, she immediately stood up and looked nervously behind him, as if to make sure that no one was following him.
"You shouldn't have come here. People will get suspicious if they see you."
"The voting results. Who cast Isabella's vote?" Leon didn't waste any words, closed the door, leaned against the door panel, and crossed his arms over his chest.
Without hesitation, Helena lowered her head, flipped open the cards in her hand, and handed one of them to Li Ang. "It's Faibel."
Li Ang had no intention of accepting it, since he couldn't see the writing on it and only needed Helena to tell him.
Upon hearing the unexpected answer, he raised an eyebrow. "Are you sure?"
"It's all clearly written on the card." Helena took back the card, looked up at him, and said, "Besides, I have no reason to lie to you."
Li Ang pondered to himself, why would Fibel, that taciturn girl who sat in the corner and only occasionally joined the discussion, vote for Isabella? It seemed like he hadn't even exchanged more than a few words with her.
Could she be a witch?
He walked to the door, placed his hand on the doorknob, and asked, "Where is Faibel now?"
"The second to last cell at the far east end of the corridor. She has never come out."
As a neutral unit in the game, she can share certain information with the jailers to some extent, and it's natural that she can know the location of everyone during the day.
Li Ang opened the door and walked out, Helena's voice following behind, "Be careful. I have a feeling she's noticed our relationship."
"Oh!? How come I had no idea there was any special relationship between us?"
After leaving a sarcastic remark, Li Ang immediately closed the door, which angered Helena so much that she raised her foot to kick it, but instead kicked the iron gate. She immediately clutched her foot and grimaced in pain.
When Li Ang arrived in front of Fibel, he found the other sitting on a haystack, seemingly having been waiting for him for some time, and the scene seemed strangely familiar.
"You seem to be waiting for me?" he asked tentatively.
"Yes. I voted for Isabella. Once you find out, you'll definitely come looking for me, so I've been waiting for you."
"What? Isabella? So you cast your vote for Isabella?" Leon feigned surprise. "Why did you vote for her?"
"Pretending to be something you're not."
Faibel stood up from the haystack, brushed the crumbs off her skirt, and walked up to Li Ang, the two of them less than a step apart.
She was almost a head shorter than him, so she had to slightly raise her chin and look up at him.
"You and Helena made some kind of deal. She would help you in the game, which is why you knew that I voted for Isabella." She revealed the deal between Leon and Helena.
