Entertainment: Starting with a complete collapse

Chapter 132, "Unexpectedly," aired.

On another short video platform, Kuaishou, it was just as impressive, reaching 890,000 views.

Such data.

Even Su Qing, who had once held a senior position in a large company, was somewhat surprised. She knew that the two short video platforms had cost her company's operations department a total of 200,000 yuan for promotion, which would amount to 100,000 yuan per platform.

It's not that Su Qing doesn't want to spend more on advertising.

The main reason was that she really didn't think highly of the short drama written by Huang Min—not only did she not think highly of it, but even Wu Han, the head of the company's operations department, and Zhang Jianhua, who was trying to secure sponsorship for the web series, didn't think highly of it either.

Wu Han didn't say anything after reading it, but her disappointed expression said it all.

Zhang Jianhua from the Ministry of Commerce was much more direct, saying only one sentence: "I estimate that after the broadcast, I'll have to treat someone to a meal and apologize." But the data is right here.

The company did not spend money to inflate data.

There's no need for that.

now.

Su Qing and Wu Han arrived at the company's office area and stood behind a staff member, looking at the data on the computer screen in front of him. The staff member pointed to the upper right corner of the screen and said, "President Su, Minister Wu, the first episode of 'Unexpectedly' is over five minutes long, and the completion rate is as high as 72%. That means that after three people came across it, two of them watched it to the end. Such a complete viewership is very rare. I personally suggest that the company increase the promotion of this web series."

Done.

The staff member switched to another data chart: "The data on Kuaitui is slightly lower, but the completion rate is as high as 60%. Here—this is the total attention, with 890,000 views, meaning about 160,000 people clicked to follow. This means that after watching the web series 'Unexpectedly,' most netizens not only finished watching it, but also actively followed it, intending to watch the second episode."

Su Qing was somewhat bewildered.

After reviewing all the analysis data, Su Qing and Wu Han returned to their office.

"I don't understand some of it."

Wu Han gave a wry smile.

The web series was produced by the company. As a senior executive of the company, Wu Han even went to the filming location to see it. However, after seeing it, she, like General Manager Su, did not have high hopes.

This web series is not only short but also fragmented, making it purely for self-entertainment.

But now Wu Han realizes that sometimes, the market doesn't really need them to understand it, because their thinking is a bit outdated.

"As long as the number of views is high, that's all that matters."

Su Qing, on the other hand, took it all in stride.

It's okay if these women in their early thirties don't understand it. Some things aren't made for people their age. Just like TV dramas starring young actresses and actors, their target audience is young people aged thirteen or fourteen to twenty-five or twenty-six. The same goes for "Unexpectedly," which is produced by our own company.

It's fine as long as young people like it; whether they like it or not is not important.

Given the high viewership and other metrics on the first day on both short video platforms, Su Qing immediately decided to increase the promotion of the web series on these platforms.

The promotional expenses alone increased to one million.

The company's operations department also started working on this web series, editing high-energy scenes, plot twists, and funny memes and posting them on social media and Bilibili.

the next day.

The number of views has reached a new high.

The Moyin short video platform has 2.1 million users, and the Kuaijiao platform has 1.85 million users.

Day three.

Both platforms directly surpassed three million views. With the airing of three days, plus the airing of the first two episodes, the total number of views for the three episodes of "Unexpected" directly reached 6.2 million on Moyin platform and 70,000 on Kuaishou.

On that very day, Su Qing received calls from senior executives of the marketing departments of two short video platforms, both of whom wanted to acquire the exclusive broadcasting rights to the web series.

The price offered by the Moyin short video platform is 600,000 yuan per episode.

Kuaijiao is worth 800,000.

After some negotiation, Dongsheng Pictures signed an exclusive broadcasting agreement with the Moyin short video platform. The price was 750,000 yuan per episode. After deducting the total production cost and promotion costs of the web series, which consisted of twelve episodes, they could earn several million yuan.

This is the first profitable project since the movie "The Terror Live," apart from the revenue sharing from Teacher Zhou's endorsement, and it brought in so much money all at once.

This greatly boosted morale within the company.

After finalizing the exclusive broadcasting agreement, Su Qing drove to the set of "Memories of Murder".

"Sis, am I famous now!?"

Upon seeing his sister appear, Su Yan, who was dressed in 1980s clothes and working as a guest actor on set, immediately ran over. In addition to him being called over for a guest role, Li Tian was also thrown into the crew by Huang Min for a guest role.

He actually wanted Li Tian to reach his peak right from his debut.

Then he went on to star in several films and became an action star.

But that's obviously impossible.

Even if he wrote "Shaolin Temple" and used Jet Li's template to fit Li Tian, who looks very much like him, it wouldn't make a difference. Times have changed. "Shaolin Temple" could sweep the globe in the 1980s, creating an unprecedented viewing frenzy in the history of Chinese cinema. Now, nobody watches that kind of hard-hitting kung fu.

The production cost is indeed not much.

But without even trying, Huang Min knew that the film would flop.

Every era has its own market and cinematic aesthetics. Right now, kung fu movies where one person fights ten are popular. And Li Tian is only twenty-two or twenty-three years old, with a very youthful face. If he wants to carry the box office, in addition to good acting skills, he also needs to shed his immaturity.

So we have to take it one step at a time.

Anyway, he has the person in his hands, so he can't escape.

"Um"

It certainly wasn't a viral sensation, but the number of views was incredibly high, especially the line "I am Wang Dachui." Su Qing glanced at it and it seemed poised to become a new internet meme. After receiving confirmation from her sister, Su Yan was overjoyed and turned to Li Tiandao, who was also dressed in clothes from the 1980s, saying, "Brother Tian, I'm a hit!"

"Your sister said she wants me to be the male lead in a movie next year."

Li Tian's words silenced Su Yan.

"sister----"

Knowing what her younger brother was about to say, Su Qing said, "I'll arrange a role for you in the movie." Then, Su Qing looked at Li Tian and smiled, "How's your learning going on set?!"

"It was quite fun. Teacher Zhou and Teacher Zhou Bo's acting was really good; it felt just like watching a real movie."

Li Tian replied.

"If you study hard, you can definitely achieve what they have."

After giving Li Tian a few more words of encouragement, Su Qing walked over and sat down next to Huang Min, saying, "Unexpectedly, 'Unexpectedly' has become a hit. I've come to take him away."

"Assistant Director Wang Xiao is not up to the task; we need to move to another location for filming."

Huang Min replied, "Your brother and the other staff members can take them with them. The camera company has one, right? Let Xiao Xing direct. He used to be a cameraman, so it shouldn't be a problem."

Not far away, a young man who had been eavesdropping quietly after Manager Su arrived was trembling with excitement after hearing the director's words.
