Kingdom Come: Deliverance, but Warhammer 40k
Chapter 9 Chaos Knight
Cultists are the most common Chaos faction in Warhammer 40.
Basically, wherever there are people, there will be traces of their activities.
Even in the common homeland of all mankind, at the feet of the Emperor, on the sacred Terra.
They were mostly composed of misled civilians, defected soldiers, and mutants.
Due to their complex composition, Chaos cultists exhibit a severe duality between the divine and the demonic. Dangerous cultists can incite widespread riots and summon demons in densely populated areas, while weaker cultists are no different from ordinary people who have lost their minds.
Fortunately, these few people in front of us were clearly just low-level cannon fodder incited by words, some bastards who were bewitched into killing their compatriots.
Their bodies had not yet begun to mutate, and chaos had not yet begun to pay attention to them.
To put it bluntly, they were just a bunch of crazy farmers.
The problem was that Henry's hands were locked together by electronic shackles, limiting his range of movement, and he didn't even have a brick at hand.
After a brief standoff, the four men let out a series of strange, off-key screams and charged forward, brandishing their broken gadgets.
"Hold!"
Henry turned and ran.
A wise man doesn't fight a losing battle; who knows what those guys have painted on their weapons?
If I were to get grazed or injured, I would most likely lose my life.
However, having his arms bound prevented him from swinging them to maintain balance while running.
He had only taken two steps when he stepped into a pool of sticky blood. He slipped, lost his balance, and fell.
The churchgoers at the front were caught off guard and couldn't stop in time, crashing solidly into Henry's back.
The two immediately rolled around in a ball.
The two followers behind them couldn't dodge in time and were tripped up, falling to one side and piling up like drunken bastards in a tavern.
The scene was a complete mess.
Someone kicked Henry in the face, and someone else tried to bite his boot. In the chaos, Henry's finger pierced a cultist's nostril.
In his panic, a line of words flashed before his eyes.
The "Do or Die" strategy has been activated.
Strength +2, Agility +2, Weapon Skill +2
Henry was startled.
The enemy outnumbers us, this is the perfect opportunity!
The cultist underneath was still thrashing about aimlessly. Henry clenched his fists and delivered a punch to the man.
Bang! Blood splattered from his nose.
The second punch.
The third punch.
With double the force, the person beneath him quickly fell still.
Henry pushed the body aside and stood up.
A rusty machete came crashing down on me.
Henry's agility, twice as fast as usual, gave him a reaction speed far exceeding his normal ability, and he dodged to the side.
The blade grazed past his ear and embedded itself in a crack in the wall, where it could not be pulled out.
The two stood facing each other, stunned.
The cultist's face turned red, and he desperately tried to pull the knife handle back with both hands.
Henry glanced at the knife on the wall and, without hesitation, kicked the other man in the stomach.
With a scream, the man fell backward to the ground.
Thank you.
Henry gripped the hilt and drew the weapon, which was now in his hand.
With the right tools, he felt much more confident. Improving his weapon skills would allow him to master various weapons more quickly.
The remaining two retreated in panic, but the narrow corridor didn't leave them much room to escape.
With the help of system skills, Henry swiftly brought down his knife.
Moments later, the last cult member collapsed, clutching his neck.
Henry leaned against the wall, his heart pounding in his chest, his hand holding the knife trembling uncontrollably.
After all, it was his first time killing someone, and his stomach inevitably churned.
But the sounds of cannon fire outside grew louder and louder, and the roar of the mechs shook the walls, making it seem as if the castle's guards wouldn't be able to hold out for much longer.
"Why did this have to happen of all times since I came here?"
As soon as he finished speaking, a sharp pain shot through his shoulder.
"When were you injured?"
"Fortunately, the opponent wasn't a farmer or a dog."
He tore a relatively clean strip of cloth from the corpse at his feet, wrapped it around his wound, and continued walking down the corridor.
After turning a corner.
boom!
Gunshots pierced the darkness. A sprinting thug fell to the ground.
A few meters away.
A young man is holding a finely crafted flintlock pistol.
The smoke from the gun barrels slowly dissipated.
After confirming that the rioter was dead, the young man went forward to examine his body.
Just then, a thin, black thread slipped out from the corpse's collar. It slithered along the floor tiles, silently climbing up the man's leather boots and slipping into the hem of his clothes.
The parties involved were completely unaware.
The sound of footsteps behind him alerted him.
The man with the gun turned his head and met Henry, who was walking towards him with a knife.
The air was a little tense.
The young man sized up the man's attire and asked the question first.
"civilian?"
"Where did you come from? Why are you still outside! Go to the shelter immediately."
Henry frowned.
"Wait, sir."
"I don't even know where this is, or where the shelter is. That old man Ian Carlos hasn't mentioned a word about it."
Upon hearing the name, the young man's expression finally changed.
"Who?"
"Ian Carlos".
"There has never been anyone in the Carlos family with that name."
Henry's expression froze.
"What did you say?"
The young man stood up straight and looked straight ahead.
"I don't know who brought you here."
"But I can tell you clearly that there is no such person as Ian in the Carlos family."
A chill ran down my spine.
Henry opened his mouth.
Many things flashed through my mind in an instant.
Another hallucination?
If what he said is true—
Who was I talking to just now?
"Wait, you—"
boom!!!
A deafening roar interrupted him.
The entire corridor suddenly jolted.
The floor beneath their feet trembled.
next second.
The outer stone wall suddenly shattered.
Tons of bricks and stones flew outwards like a torrential rain.
Before the two could even stand up straight, a thick steel arm smashed through the wall and pierced into the corridor.
The airflow, carrying pebbles, rushed in, knocking Henry and his knife to the ground.
He coughed as he got up and looked out through the gap in the wall.
Then I saw the knight mech.
Or.
It used to be a Knight Mech.
The steel behemoth that was swallowed up outside the castle not long ago has now risen again.
But it has completely lost its original appearance and has been corrupted by chaos.
The armor plates seemed to melt and grow together with the flesh.
Thick blood vessels pulsate around the steel skeleton.
Bone spurs grew wildly from the shoulder blades and joints.
The machinery and the unidentified tissue structure had become one. The paint that once represented the glory of the empire had been replaced by a foul-smelling substance, and as the machine operated, the veins filling the mechanical structure continued to rise and fall.
Every single movement.
The exposed muscles will contract and wriggle.
The power of blasphemy grants the dead the right to live, as punishment for those who refuse to be corrupted.
Henry felt a churning in his stomach.
Compared to weapons of war, it looks more like a distorted living thing magnified to tens of meters tall.
Opposite it, another uncorrupted knight mech was raising its arm to clamp down on its attack.
The massive chainsaw sword and the battle blade clashed without restraint, sending sparks raining down like a waterfall. The commotion from the two behemoths' struggle nearly shattered the castle.
"By the Divine Emperor..."
The young nobleman's face turned pale.
The sound was almost squeezed out between his teeth.
next moment.
The corrupted knight mech roared, the loud noise stunning everyone present.
The massive chainsaw sword, covered in flesh and blood, forcefully crushed through the opponent's defenses, its buzzing serrations gnawing into the opponent's breastplate.
The heavy metal barrier was torn open like a piece of waste paper.
The cockpit deep inside is revealed.
The monster reached behind and, like opening a can, pulled out the opponent's cockpit along with the tangled cables.
The steel twisted.
Sparks flew everywhere.
Those inside had no chance of escape, and the entire defensive mech came to a complete halt amidst wailing cries.
Through the large hole that had been opened, Henry was able to see the face of the mutated mech.
Where the family crest should have been, a corpse was hanging upside down by iron chains.
It was a woman wearing a driver's suit.
The uniform fabric had become one with the surrounding environment, and chains pierced her torso, hanging her on the mecha's chest like a trophy. Her dry, long hair swayed from side to side with the mecha's movements, and her empty eye sockets drooped towards the ground, as if she were looking down at this crumbling battlefield.
Looking at the sins his car now bears, it is a punishment for the defeated.
Henry felt an uncontrollable spasm in his stomach.
For some reason, he suddenly felt sad, and his heart felt empty.
A moment of blankness.
A hand suddenly grabbed his collar.
"run!"
The young nobleman was practically shouting.
Before Henry could react...
He was being dragged backward by the other person.
Behind.
The monster knight let out a deafening roar, and the collapsing stone wall continued to pour inward like an avalanche.
The entire corridor began to collapse.
Basically, wherever there are people, there will be traces of their activities.
