I made up magic and taught a world-destroying witch?

Chapter 73: Hospitality Begins with Two Cakes

Chapter 74 (Seventy-Three): Hospitality Begins with Two Cakes

Mia squatted down beside it, her eyes fixed on the slowly rising cake base inside. She didn't really know why she suddenly wanted to make this.

Perhaps she was genuinely hungry, or perhaps her husband had been too busy these past few days, dealing with all those troublesome adult matters.

The man always seemed to know everything, as if he could handle anything. But Mia thought, even a great magician gets tired, doesn't he?

When her husband comes home, he'll be happier to see the cake she and Grace made together on the table.

She thought for a moment, then reached out to adjust the fire, but Grace quickly reminded her, "You already added fire once."

"But if we don't add fire, won't it not grow big?"

"If you add more, the outside might burn first."

"Then let it cook faster inside?"

Grace: "————" This request sounds simple, like asking someone to run faster than everyone else without falling down. If it could be done, there wouldn't be any problem.

The problem is that neither of them knows how to do it, and she even sent away the servant who was cleaning earlier.

"It should be about time, right?"

"Wait a little longer."

"But I can smell a fragrance."

"Smelling the aroma doesn't mean it's cooked inside."

"How do you know?"

The two were silent for a while, and finally Mia found a clean, thin wooden skewer and carefully poked it into the center of the cake. When she pulled it out, there was still some wet batter stuck to it.

Mia closed the oven door again, and the two waited for a while until the edges of the cake began to turn a dangerously dark brown before finally taking the baking tray out.

The freshly baked cake lay crookedly on the plate, one side bulging high while the other side collapsed as if it had been crushed by something, with a very obvious crack in the middle.

The appearance was nothing like something a court pastry chef would allow to be served, but the aroma was really wonderful, and even Mia couldn't help but swallow.

"Isn't it a little crooked?" Grace asked softly.

"There's only one thing, it won't affect anything at all, believe me," Mia said very firmly.

Grace looked at the cake on the left, which was almost half again as tall as the one on the right, without saying a word.

Mia quickly added, "Anyway, the cake doesn't need to walk by itself, so it doesn't matter if it's a little crooked."

Leaving it dry like that wouldn't do, so they mixed the remaining sweet milk and honey together, hoping to make a coating. However, Mia stirred it too vigorously, causing a lot of the sweet milk to splatter, making her hands dirty.

Grace wanted to help, but as soon as she reached out, Mia immediately said, "You guide me!"

Grace had no choice but to withdraw her hand. As the gentleman had said, a facilitator cannot do things for others.

All she could do was stand by and remind them, "Slow down."

"There seem to be too many on the left."

"You can cover up the tear a little more."

"Mia, did you just pour the whole spoonful in?"

Finally, the two of them managed to spread the slightly yellowish sweet cream onto the surface of the cake. Because the cake itself was uneven, the spread naturally wasn't very smooth either.

Mia found a few more small red berries and tried arranging them in a pattern on top. Grace used the remaining white icing to draw a small flower in the center of the cake.

She had intended to draw it more neatly, but in the end, the whole flower looked askew, as if it had been blown askew by the wind. Grace looked at her work with a little disappointment.

"Is it ugly?"

"It's beautiful!" Mia exclaimed immediately. "At least you can tell it's a flower at a glance!"

Grace: "————" This evaluation doesn't seem particularly high.

Mia then drew a small hammer with red jam next to the white flower, but the jam flowed too fast and veered off to the edge of the cake, making it look more like a melting red mushroom.

However, after standing by the table and looking at it carefully for a while, the two of them still felt that it wasn't too bad, after all, it was their first time doing it.

Mia carefully moved the cake to the living room table, and Grace found a relatively clean tablecloth to rearrange the teacups.

After they finally managed to tidy everything up, the two belatedly realized that their clothes were covered in flour and dust. Mia bent down and patted them off, which only stirred up more white dust.

"Let's leave it at that for now. Anyway, the master won't mind us."

Grace lowered her eyes and did not refute.

Yes, how could you possibly dislike them, sir?

Meanwhile, the carriage returning to the Royal Academy had already passed through the North Gate. Joseph had originally planned to take Evelyn and Allen directly to Academician Wade.

Professional matters should be left to professionals, especially when it comes to reviving an old project that is perfect for Academician Wade to contribute his remaining energy. Not handing this task over to him would be a waste of the Royal Academy's academic resources.

However, when they arrived at Academician Wade's experimental tower, the students inside told them, "Academician Wade is in a meeting."

The student asked somewhat nervously, "Professor Grantham, should I pass on your message?"

Joseph: "————" He had already brought the pot to the door, but the person to take it was nowhere to be found?

But we can't just let the nun knight stand by the academy road forever.

The academy does have rooms specifically for receiving visitors, but after sending them there, is he really going to sit there and wait idly? It would be much more comfortable to just send them back to his own experimental tower.

"After Academician Wade returns, please have him contact me. I have something important to discuss with him."

"Okay, Professor."

"Let's go back to the experimental tower first," Joseph said.

Evelyn nodded gently and said, "Thank you for your help, Professor."

As she followed Joseph, she became even more certain.

Professor Grantham was indeed a kind person; the experimental towers of great wizards were not places that outsiders could just enter at will.

That area often represents the study of secrets and personal space, which is the most important foundation for a mage.

But the professor was willing to take her and Allen back to wait for news from Academician Wade.

Only those with kind hearts would willingly step into troubles that don't belong to them, time and time again.

The three quickly arrived at the experimental tower. Joseph pushed open the door and took just one step inside when he smelled a very distinct sweet fragrance.

When did the experimental tower start baking things on its own?

The next second, hurried footsteps came from beside the stairs, and Mia and Grace walked out of the living room almost at the same time.

"Sir!" Mia's eyes lit up as soon as she saw Joseph, and Grace smiled instinctively as well, but she soon noticed Evelyn next to Joseph.

Evelyn was still wearing her black nun's habit and stood next to Joseph; the two had obviously returned together.
