This adventurer is overly righteous.

Chapter 30 I really have to control you, goblin.

Some elderly oxen struggled to pull their wooden carts along the rugged path. At that moment, this was the only lonely creature moving along the entire path, its hooves lifting and slamming down with a monotonous "thud." Wild grass, waist-high to adults, grew on both sides of the road, and the trees were sparse. Sunlight fell on their shoulders, making them feel uneasy and restless.

Perhaps it was a gentle breeze, for a soft rustling sound came from the wild grass, as if some creature was moving among it, which made Kroya even more cautious.

"Young man, I think you're being a bit too tense." The coachman was initially startled by Kroya's reaction and was genuinely panicked for a moment. However, after a long silence, he could only dismiss Kroya as one of those overly alarmed cowards and said impatiently, "Goblins don't have that kind of patience. If they wanted to attack us, they would have already done it!"

"Besides, goblins aren't that brave. They're quite clever; they know that powerful adventurers sometimes pass through this road. If they dared to ambush here, wouldn't they be afraid of being wiped out by the adventurers?"

Even goblins know how powerful humans are. The areas they ravage and harass are mostly small villages. There has never been a goblin that dares to go to White Rock Town.

Even though the driver said so, Croya was still unwilling to relax. He could clearly sense the creatures hiding in the grass that were up to no good. They were just too far away for him to pinpoint their exact location. He only knew that they were not moving and did not seem to have any intention of following the oxcart.

The coachman stopped paying attention to Croya; let him do whatever he wanted. These young people were easily frightened by themselves.

However, going to kill goblins like that seems a bit unreliable.

But that has nothing to do with him...

"Alright, we've arrived."

The oxcart stopped at the entrance of a small village. The driver put out his belongings, which he had brought from White Rock Town, to sell. The villagers gathered around, each taking what they needed. Kroya jumped off the cart and showed his badge as a veteran adventurer to the elderly village chief to prove his identity and obtain information related to the quest.

"I'll probably be heading back the same way from here the day after tomorrow afternoon," the driver reminded Croya, hoping to earn some more money. "If you still want a ride, you can come and take a taxi."

"The price remains the same?"

"Of course."

"Okay then," Croa said helplessly after thinking for a moment, but he planned to try to bargain later.

The primary task now is to deal with that goblin camp.

The old village chief, with his white hair and thin, withered figure, led Kroya through the village. Men and women alike cast their gazes upon Kroya, captivated by his presence.

A moment later, the two stopped in front of a house that looked rather old. Kroya looked it over. The house used birch trees as beams and supports, the walls were made of stacked stones of different sizes, and the roof was probably made of bundled thatch. The structure was roughly the same as the other houses Kroya had seen on the road, only much larger in scale.

Perhaps this is related to geography, Kroya thought. The houses he had seen in Nome Village were all made of pure wood, which was very different from those here. Perhaps it was because Nome Village was close to the Misty Forest and had lush trees, while there were no such conditions here.

This village is located southwest of Whitestone Town, while Nome Village is to the west. To the west lies the Misty Forest, and to the southwest is a towering mountain range that is said to be inhabited by giant stone giants, hence the name Giant Mountain Range.

All these wild thoughts occurred within a few minutes after the old village chief led Croya into the house. Croya sat on a wooden stool, and the village chief took out some sun-dried tea leaves from a small jar, intending to brew them for Croya to drink.

It tastes quite bitter, but there's a slight sweet aftertaste after swallowing it.

"Thank you so much for coming to help us get rid of those dangerous goblins, adventurer."

After seeing Kroya drink the tea, the village chief began to slowly recount what he knew.

"A brave young man once went to check it out. In that goblin camp, there were three very tall guys. The other goblins only reached their waists. They were all wearing animal skins and carrying big clubs..."

He gestured with his withered hand in the air, and Croya roughly understood the situation.

The goblin camp was located northeast of the village, and there were three mutated goblins there. Their exact species was unknown, but it was certain that they were not very strong.

Ordinary goblins are about 1.2 meters tall with slender limbs, but they are much stronger than human children of the same size. If what the village chief said is true, then those three mutated goblins would be over two meters tall and their strength would be overwhelmingly greater than that of ordinary people.

Even ordinary adventurers would find it difficult to confront them head-on.

But for Croa, the problem wasn't so big.

If he couldn't even handle common monsters like goblins, then Kroya wouldn't have chosen to become an adventurer.

"I'll clean them up soon."

"That's wonderful, adventurer." Seeing that Kroya had drunk the bitter tea, the old village chief poured him another cup. "Recently, quite a few goblins have appeared. If it weren't for adventurers like you, we really wouldn't know what to do..."

"Is that a lot?"

Kroya recalled the malicious stares he had received while riding in the oxcart, which he figured must have been from goblins.

"A lot." The old village chief's wrinkles gathered together, seemingly more bitter than the cup of tea. "I think it's probably because the goblin lairs in that cave developed and couldn't fit underground anymore, so they all came up here."

Clearing out goblin lairs is a fairly common task in the Adventurers' Guild. Goblins are creatures with an incredibly high reproductive rate. If their lairs are left unattended, their numbers will grow at an extremely rapid pace until their lairs can no longer support so many goblins.

Although Kroya had seen goblins build complex underground cities in fantasy works from his previous life, such a situation would not occur in this world.

There is no sunlight or oxygen underground, crops can hardly grow, and it is impossible for goblins to catch prey. It is impossible for goblins to live underground for a long time, let alone expand their nests to that extent.

Therefore, once the population grows to a certain size, they will try to establish their own territory on the ground, and those goblin camps are the best evidence of this.

However, the Adventurers' Guild has not yet determined which large goblin lair these goblins came from, and therefore has no way to issue any hunting quests.
