On the third night after the martial arts competition, Xiao Yan was meditating in his room when he suddenly opened his eyes.

He released his spiritual power and sensed three auras climbing over the north wall of the Xiao family compound. Their movements were very light, their footsteps were deliberately low, and they had applied powder to their bodies to mask their scent, making them undetectable to ordinary people.

But Xiao Yan is no ordinary person.

"Here it comes," he thought to himself.

The old doctor also sensed it: "Three people, the highest being a Grand Dou Shi in the early stage, and the other two are Dou Shi. They're coming for you."

"I know."

Xiao Yan didn't move. He waited.

Three shadowy figures crept up to the outside of Xiao Yan's courtyard. The leader made a gesture, and the other two flanked him from the left and right, their movements practiced and skilled, clearly indicating they were used to dirty work.

The leader pushed open the door.

The room was pitch black, with only moonlight streaming in from the window. A figure lay on the bed, breathing evenly.

He drew his dagger and approached silently.

Then he saw those eyes.

Xiao Yan lay on the bed, eyes open, looking at him.

"You shouldn't have come," Xiao Yan said, his tone as indifferent as if he were commenting on the nice weather.

The leader reacted quickly, suddenly leaping up and thrusting his dagger straight at Xiao Yan's throat.

Xiao Yan raised his hand and pinched the blade of the dagger between two fingers.

Just like that, with a gentle pinch.

The leader exerted all his strength, but the dagger remained completely still.

"A Great Dou Master?" Xiao Yan tilted his head. "That's interesting."

With a flick of his finger, the dagger snapped in two.

Two more people rushed in from outside, unleashing their fighting spirit and attacking from the left and right. Xiao Yan stood up from the bed and released his crimson fighting spirit.

Both of them were thrown back by the force of the impact, crashing through the wall and landing in the yard, unable to get up.

The leader turned pale and ran away.

Xiao Yan didn't pursue. He condensed his soul power and directly locked the opponent's meridians. It was a battle between two Great Dou Masters, but Xiao Yan's Dou Qi was of Dou King quality, so he crushed the opponent without any skill.

The leader's legs buckled, and he knelt on the ground.

"Who sent you?"

"I...I..."

"Galiebi?"

The leader shuddered.

"No need to answer," Xiao Yan stood up. "Your reaction has already told me."

The next morning, Xiao Yan went to find Xiao Zhan.

"Father, the Jia Lie family sent men to kill me last night."

Xiao Zhan was drinking tea when his cup slammed onto the table with a "bang".

"What?!"

"The three assassins, from the Blood Wolf Gang, have already confessed—they were paid by Galebi."

Xiao Zhan's face turned ashen. He stood up, his fighting spirit overflowing uncontrollably, shattering the teacup into pieces.

"Galebi..." he said, emphasizing each word, "He dares to touch my son? The Blood Wolf Gang also dares to provoke the Xiao family."

"Father," Xiao Yan said, "the Jia Lie family is no longer fighting covertly; this is openly tearing each other apart. Leaving future troubles is neither my style nor the style of our Xiao family."

Xiao Zhan looked at Xiao Yan and remained silent for a few seconds.

"What do you want to do?"

"Extermination of the entire clan."

These two words came out of Xiao Yan's mouth without the slightest hesitation.

Xiao Zhan was stunned. For the first time, he saw something on his son's face that didn't belong to a fourteen-year-old boy.

It wasn't anger, nor was it murderous intent; it was a calm and decisive decision ingrained to the core.

"The fact that Jia Liebi dared to send someone to kill me shows that he has no intention of leaving any room for maneuver," Xiao Yan said. "If we only drive him away, what if he comes back again in the future? We should nip it in the bud and get rid of it once and for all."

Xiao Zhan nodded affirmatively upon hearing this.

Then he said, "Okay. I'll handle it."

---

Xiao Zhan took action that very day.

He personally led his men to the Jia Lie family's house. There was no sneak attack, no sabotage; they simply walked in openly and honestly through the main gate.

Galebi waited in the living room, his face pale. He already knew the assassin had failed; the news had spread faster than he had anticipated.

"Xiao Zhan," Jia Liebi struggled to his feet, "you—"

"Galebi," Xiao Zhan stood in the center of the living room, his aura as a peak Dou Ling cultivator causing the entire house to tremble, "you hired someone to assassinate my son, do you admit it or not?"

Galebi opened his mouth, but no words came out.

"It's fine if you don't want to acknowledge it," Xiao Zhan said. "I'll keep the person alive. But I don't want to waste any more time—the Jia Lie family is destroyed today."

"You—you're going to kill us all!"

"Exterminate them all?" Xiao Zhan sneered. "When you sent people to kill my son, why didn't you say 'exterminate them all'?"

With a roar, Jialiebi unleashed his full power as a nine-star Grand Dou Master, throwing a punch at Xiao Zhan.

Xiao Zhan struck out with his palm.

A peak Dou Ling cultivator is a whole major realm weaker than a nine-star Great Dou Master. Jia Liebi's fist force was like paper before Xiao Zhan's palm wind, crumbling at the slightest touch. Jia Liebi was blasted away, crashing through three walls before landing in the courtyard, spitting blood.

"Xiao Yan...you will die a horrible death!" Jia Liebi struggled to get up.

Xiao Yan stepped out from behind Xiao Zhan and looked down at him.

"What a joke! I'm too lazy to reason with you; you're not worthy to listen."

A flash of resentment crossed Galebi's eyes, but it was quickly swallowed up by fear. He knew it was all over.

Xiao Zhan did not give Jialiebi another chance to speak.

That day, the Jialie family was completely wiped out. Jialiebi was killed, and the core members of the Jialie family were either killed or surrendered. All their assets were swallowed up by the Xiao family. The three-family structure that Wutan City had cultivated for decades collapsed overnight.

The head of the Obama family arrived at the Xiao family that afternoon, his attitude unusually respectful. He expressed his willingness to submit and follow the Xiao family's lead.

Of the three major families in Wutan City, only one remains.

"The Jialie family has been wiped out," said the old apothecary. "Cleanly and decisively."

"Leaving problems for the future is not my style," Xiao Yan said.

"You're only fourteen," the old apothecary said, looking at him. "You've been far too decisive in committing murder and exterminating an entire clan."

"Master, when Galebi sent people to kill me, he didn't hesitate. Being merciful to the enemy is being cruel to oneself—you understand this better than anyone else."

The old doctor remained silent.

He thought of Han Feng.

"You're right," the old doctor said softly, "to be merciful to the enemy is to be cruel to oneself. This is a world where the strong prey on the weak."

Xiao Yan looked out the window, his gaze calm.

The Jialie family is just a minor player. The real enemies—the Soul Palace, the undercurrents within the ancient clans, and those forces far larger than Wutan City—are still far away.

But at least, the Xiao family has established a foothold in Wutan City.
