Fairy Tail: This Healing Mage's hits hurt so much!
Chapter 31 Snail Rice Noodles
The council's temporary camp at the foot of the Blackbone Mountains was currently in a state of chaos yet still organized.
Off-white medical tents lined up along the mountain path, and soldiers in silver-gray rune uniforms carried supplies back and forth.
The smell of disinfectant mixed with the fragrance of herbs wafted far and wide.
The stretchers carrying plague patients who had just been brought over from the surrounding towns had already lost much of their blackness.
Sunlight dragged the sealing rope all the way to the main tent entrance, then with a flick of his wrist, he tossed the tattered sack-like Nildo Lonra at the feet of Rune Troops Captain Raymond.
The captain, known for his seriousness and rigidity, was frowning as he held the disaster report. When he looked down and saw the person at his feet, he was first stunned, and then his pupils dilated in shock.
The guy in front of them, with his hair matted together, his face covered in blood and mud, and his eyes vacant as if he'd just been trampled on by a monster, is the Black Light Society leader they've been hunting for three years, with hundreds of lives on his hands.
If it weren't for that half-masked, cold, metallic face, he would have thought that Riyao had just dragged a homeless person along to make up the numbers.
Nieldo groaned when he was thrown, but didn't struggle. He just stared blankly at the sky with clear eyes, like a college student. Raymond called his name three times, but he didn't respond. He just chuckled foolishly.
Riyao stood by, hands in his pockets, delivering the finishing blow.
"Oh, he got a mild concussion from being jostled on the way. It won't affect the interrogation. If he really can't remember anything, just call me and I'll give him a couple of acupuncture treatments. The treatment fee will be charged per treatment and put on the Council's account."
Raymond's lips twitched. Just as he was about to turn around to thank him, he saw that the blond boy standing behind Riyao showed no intention of stopping and didn't even say hello.
Riyao was already used to his arrogant nature.
With the Blacklight Society's headquarters destroyed, the deadly plague that had raged for half a month lost its magical supply, and its toxicity subsided at a visible rate.
Riyao didn't leave in a hurry; he stayed for three days to join the research and development of a special medicine for the plague.
There are just too many people. If we use healing magic to treat them one by one, the people at the back might not be able to hold on during the process.
In less than a week, the epidemic in several affected towns was completely eradicated.
The residents who were on the verge of death are now out of danger. Even the hidden lung injuries they had sustained were slowly repaired by the trace amounts of life force that the sun had dispersed in the air. All that's left is to drink herbal soup for half a month to fully recover.
When Raymond personally handed the bag of bounty money to Sunrise, the rigid expression on his face relaxed considerably. Previously, his impression of Fairy Tail was entirely that of "troublemakers" and "rule-breakers".
At the same time, a document bearing the vermilion seal of the council was handed over, with the words "Special Approval" specially stamped in gold on the cover.
"This is a certificate of permanent tax exemption, which is only valid for the land you use to cultivate medicinal crops. No matter how many acres you expand it to later, the land tax and crop transaction tax will be completely exempted. This is a special exception granted by the Kingdom specifically for your contribution to this disaster relief effort."
Riyao's eyes lit up for a moment, then he scratched the back of his head, his mind quickly making up the details.
In the past two years, I have treated many old nobles of Fiore for their long-standing magical injuries, and I have also treated the old ailments left by several high-ranking members of the council.
Those employers were very generous; they had already saved up the bounty and acquired five acres of land on the sunniest, gentlest slope on the southern slope of Magnolia.
The fruits and medicinal herbs I grow are enough for my own use, and I'm too lazy to sell them.
After thinking it over, Riyao waved his hand.
"We already have enough land; we can't manage any more, and I'll have to go out and do commissioned work."
"How about you convert this tax exemption into rare seeds from the Council's inventory? Grandma Porusica has been talking about Edelweiss for almost half a year, saying she needs it to make a new antidote. It's unavailable outside, but your Council's herb warehouse must have some in stock, right?"
Raymond was stunned. He had seen many mages scrambling to take advantage of the kingdom's preferential policies to hoard land for profit, but this was the first time he had ever seen someone give up the benefit of permanent tax exemption in exchange for a few packets of seeds.
"Okay, I'll go back and submit an application. I'll have someone send the Edelweiss seeds to the Fairy Tail guild next week."
Riyao was so happy his eyes crinkled into crescents. He stuffed the heavy bounty bag into his arms, waved, and ran towards the town's train station.
Sitting on the train, Riyao was thinking about how to make up for his lack of attack power. In his mind, the little Riyao figure was crawling wildly, moving in the shadows, and rolling all over the ground.
I want to learn Enchanting Magic, but I've discovered that all the current Enchanting Magic spellbooks are incomplete. I suspect it might have been made by Irene Belserion, since she's the founder of Enchanting Magic and she's still alive. I can't afford to mess with her.
Little Wendy hasn't yet traveled through time and space to do her best... oops, she hasn't traveled over yet. She still has to wait until July 7th, X777. She only knows that it might be near the Gas Forest, but she can't find it.
Receiving magic is quite good, but a normal receiving soul is not as good as one's original physique.
If all else fails, I'll just have to get a weapon to play with.
After thinking about it all the way back, I finally returned to Magnolia. I didn't go to the guild; I was going to go home and get a good night's sleep.
The entire park is situated on the sunniest gentle slope of the southern slope of Magnolia, backed by a lush oak forest, and overlooking the rows of red rooftops of the town.
The most distant Fairy Tail guild's spire clock tower gleamed with gold paint, and the sounds of playful fighting could be faintly heard coming from inside the guild when the wind blew.
Five square acres of land spread out along a gentle slope, surrounded by a vine fence created by Riyang with the magic of life. The fence is covered with pale blue flowers and can effectively keep out wild animals. It can also spray itching powder on unauthorized strangers. Once, a thief who stole medicinal herbs was tied to the fence and laughed for three hours.
Three two-story cottages stand side by side on a high ground at the northernmost end of the garden. The roofs are covered with tiles, and the walls are covered with yellow jasmine flowers. When the wind blows, the fragrance can be smelled for half a mile.
The house in the middle is where Riyao lives, with a half-covered trellis of grapevines on the second-floor terrace.
It's furnished with many of Riyao's favorite pieces of furniture, creating a very cozy atmosphere.
The building on the left is specifically reserved for receiving guests. On the first floor, there is a long oak table that can seat fifteen people, enough for those idiots to come and freeload a meal. There are also a few rooms.
The one on the far right is the experimental hut. The windows are all made of special magical glass to prevent magic from leaking out. Inside, there are rows of terracotta pots on the shelves, where various experimental magical crops are planted.
The walls were covered with crooked growth records, and in the corner were medical balances and magic detectors given to them by Porusica.
There was also a small cage on the windowsill, containing the medicinal green butterflies that Polius had sent. The scales produced by their flapping wings could accelerate wound healing.
Next to the experimental cabin was a dusty, solid wood warehouse with a door made of thickened magical wooden planks that were insect-proof, moisture-proof, and fireproof.
Half of the room was filled with farm tools, fertilizer, and various seeds.
The evening sunlight slanted down, casting long shadows of the three small houses, and an enticing aroma wafted from the chimney of the master house.
On that day, Yao was cooking snail rice noodles. Occasionally, the guild's bell could be heard in the distance. The wind swayed the rice paddies, and even the air was filled with a sweet aroma.
