Fairy Tail: This Healing Mage's hits hurt so much!

Chapter 5 The Cunning Little Doctor

The morning mist had not yet completely dissipated from the streets of Magnolia, and the air was filled with the fragrance of earth and the fresh scent of the distant forest.

In the Fairy Tail guild's backyard, a layer of glistening dew covered the lush green lawn, reflecting the faint light of the rising sun.

Wearing loose clothes, Riyao stood in the middle of the courtyard with his feet slightly apart. He slowly raised his hands and began to practice a set of movements that appeared slow and soft to outsiders—Tai Chi.

This set of boxing techniques was the same kind that he often saw retired old men practicing in the park in his previous life.

In order to earn enough credits and to improve his health and relieve his cervical spondylosis, he enrolled in several elective Tai Chi courses.

He never imagined that this set of boxing techniques, which in his previous life could only be used to loosen up muscles and bones and was even jokingly called "elderly calisthenics" by young people, would produce such incredible effects when combined with healing magic.

Riyao slightly bent his knees and quietly cast a healing spell. In coordination with Tai Chi, he lowered his center of gravity and held his hands as if embracing Tai Chi, slowly drawing a smooth arc in front of his chest, generating a force.

It's a pity I didn't learn any other martial arts in my previous life. If I had learned a few more, like Bajiquan, Baguazhang, Palm Thunder, Nine Heavens Thunder Court Double Kick, or Rasengan, I could have put aside all my messy thoughts.

Riyao turned around, looked at the two drunkards, and immediately a gentle yet chilling smile appeared on his lips.

He slowly and deliberately pulled two glass test tubes containing a strange purple liquid from his wide sleeves.

"Good morning, Macao, Wakaba." Riyou walked up with a smile, his voice so gentle it could melt your heart.

"It seems you all had a great time at last night's banquet. As the guild's personal healer, how could I bear to see you suffer from hangovers? Here, try the 'Clarity Potion 3.0 Enhanced Version' that I worked on for you last night."

Macao and Wakaba's pupils dilated instantly. Although they were still not fully conscious, their survival instincts made them feel extreme danger.

The pungent smell hit them right in the head, making their eyes water uncontrollably.

"No...no need, Sunrise, I feel fine, ugh..." Macao dry-heaved as he tried to back away, but his legs, weak from the hangover, wouldn't obey him.

"Ignoring illness and avoiding medical treatment is not a good habit."

Sunrise reacted swiftly, grabbing Macao's chin and forcing him to open his mouth, then pouring the tube of purple liquid into his mouth without hesitation.

Then, using the same method, he smoothly poured another tube into Wakaba.

"Gulp!"

The moment the potion was ingested, Macao and Wakaba's faces underwent a dramatic transformation, from deathly pale to ashen, then to purplish-red, and finally to a bizarre liver-colored hue.

Their eyes bulged out and were bloodshot, and their hands were tightly gripping their necks, as if someone were burning their esophagus with hot coals.

An indescribable, intensely bitter and spicy sensation exploded simultaneously in their mouths and stomachs, a feeling akin to swallowing a whole, live, poisonous toad, which was frantically spraying venom inside their stomachs.

"Aaaaaah!!! Water! Give me water!" Macao let out a pig-like scream, rolling around frantically on the lawn.

Wakaba knelt on the ground, tears and snot streaming down his face, frantically pounding the ground with his hands, not even caring that his pipe had fallen to the ground.

"See, the effect is immediate! Don't you all feel incredibly energetic and not sleepy at all now?"

Riyao looked at his masterpiece with satisfaction, quickly jotting down notes in his notebook.

"After taking it, the subjects struggled violently, were extremely excited, and their hangover symptoms completely disappeared. The side effects were possible temporary loss of taste and psychological trauma... Hmm, next time we can consider adding a little Coptis chinensis to neutralize the spiciness."

Just as this "human tragedy" was unfolding in the backyard, the window of the second-floor dormitory was gently pushed open.

Kana, who had just woken up, was wearing a slightly oversized pajama. She rubbed her sleepy eyes and peeked out.

She was still a little dazed, but when she saw Macao and Wakaba rolling around on the ground, she was startled awake. Her face turned pale, and she looked helplessly at Riyao, who was standing to the side, smiling and taking notes.

Riyao keenly noticed the gaze from upstairs. He looked up, his sly smile vanishing instantly, seamlessly transforming into the gentle and reliable older brother next door.

He waved to Kana and called out softly, "Good morning, little Kana. Did you sleep well last night? Come down and wash up. I've prepared some hot milk and freshly baked buttered bread for you. Don't mind these two silly old men doing their morning exercises."

Kana paused for a moment, looked at the "idiot uncle" foaming at the mouth and convulsing on the ground, and then looked at Riyao, who was smiling brightly in the sunlight. Although she had a vague feeling that something was wrong, she still nodded obediently: "Okay, Riyao, I'll come down right away."

In this Fairy Tail guild full of oddballs and eccentrics, Cana's first day of daily life began in this strange yet vibrant atmosphere.

Sunlight put away his notebook, stepped over the two "corpses" on the ground, hummed an unknown tune, and turned to walk towards the guild's kitchen, ready to enjoy his peaceful and wonderful breakfast time.

The guild kitchen was filled with the aroma of roasted wheat. Sunshine skillfully took two trays of golden, crispy buttered bread from the oven and warmed a pot of fresh milk on the stove.

A moment later, soft footsteps came from the stairs. Kana had changed into clean clothes and her hair was neatly combed. However, there was still a hint of nervousness in her big eyes as she entered the new environment.

"Come, sit here." Riyao pulled out a wooden chair and pushed a steaming cup of milk and a plate of bread covered with thick jam in front of Kana. "They're freshly baked, eat them while they're hot."

"Thank you, Riyue-ge," Kana said softly, holding the warm mug in both hands and taking a small sip of milk.

The rich, creamy flavor spread through my mouth, dispelling the last chill of the morning.

She secretly glanced at Riyao, who was leisurely slicing an egg across from her, and finally couldn't help but ask, "Riyao-ge... were Uncle Macaou and the others... really alright?"

Riyao swallowed a bite of fried egg, picked up a napkin and elegantly wiped the corner of his mouth, smiling innocently.

"Don't worry, they're perfectly fine. My potion may have a slightly unusual taste, but its effects are absolutely immediate. Look, aren't they already heading to the guild hall full of energy?"

Just then, a powerful roar came from the direction of the guild hall.

"Sunshine! You bastard, get out here! My sense of taste has completely disappeared! I just ate a bite of salted fish, and it felt like I was chewing wood!" That was Marcao's voice.

Then came Wakaba's tearful wailing: "My pipe... it tastes nothing but your damn bitter gourd! I'm going to kill you!"

Kana's hand holding the bread trembled slightly as she looked at Riyao with some fear.

Riyao seemed oblivious to the clamor of condemnation. He calmly picked up his coffee, took a sip, and winked at Kana.

"Listen, how loud and clear their voices are! This shows that their lung capacity and mental state have fully recovered. This is a medical miracle!"

Kana chuckled twice and decided to focus on the bread on her plate. She felt there was still a lot she needed to learn in this guild.

"Hey, Riyao, are you torturing people with those weird potions again?"

An old yet energetic voice rang out from the kitchen doorway.

Sunrise chuckled and said, "Old man, I was doing it for their own good. Without my 'wake-up potion,' they would have been slumped over their desks like limp shrimps all day. I'm improving the guild's overall work efficiency."

Don't give me that.

Makarov took a big gulp of water, then turned to look at Kana, his expression instantly becoming incredibly kind.

"Little Kana, did you sleep well last night? Was the bed comfortable? Did anyone bully you?"

Kana was flattered and put down the bread in her hand, nodding quickly.

"I slept very well, Chairman Grandpa. The bed was soft, and no one bullied me."

"That's good, that's good."

Makarov chuckled and patted Cana's head. "In Fairy Tail, we're all family. If anyone dares to bully you, just tell me, and I'll use my gigantification magic to crush them into a pulp!"

"Yes!" Kana nodded vigorously, her eyes slightly warm.

Although she didn't reunite with any relatives, she felt a long-lost warmth here.

"Brother Riyao, are you really good at making a lot of amazing potions?"

Kana looked curiously at the seemingly inexhaustible test tubes in Riyao's sleeve, her eyes sparkling with admiration.

"Of course."

Riyao proudly raised his chin.

"In Fairy Tail, you can come to me anytime you're injured or sick. However..."

He paused deliberately, then lowered his voice and leaned close to Kana's ear.

"If you want to play a prank on someone, you can come to me. I have a lot of 'fun' little inventions here."

Kana's eyes lit up, as if a new world had opened up for her. She nodded vigorously, a mischievous smile creeping onto her lips.

From that moment on, she knew she had truly become part of this quirky, noisy, yet incredibly warm family.
