Chapter 40 Decision Making
Blackie's expression also changed.
The Spider Queen is often three points stronger than the Spider King. He is confident that he can defeat the Spider King alone, but if the two join forces to attack him, he is afraid that he will be in grave danger today.
Not to mention there were more than a dozen ordinary hunters below. If the two second-tier beasts were allowed to unleash their full power, no one in the entire arena would survive.
But the black man hardly hesitated at all.
Taking advantage of the moment he blocked the Spider King's front legs, he shouted towards Lin Yun in the direction of the door, "Kid, break down the door and get them out!"
Before he could finish speaking, he dodged the Spider Queen's sweeping leg, rolled to the side of a hunter's corpse, grabbed an alloy dagger from the ground, and with a sudden burst of strength, hurled it at the Spider Queen on the load-bearing beam.
The dagger, like an arrow released from a bow, pierced straight into the spider queen's swollen abdomen with a whooshing sound.
The spider queen let out a sharp hiss, and her two short, thick forelegs quickly crossed in front of her.
With a crisp clang, the short knife was deflected by the leg blade and embedded deeply into the ceiling.
The attack failed to harm the spider queen, but it enraged her.
Its dark purple markings on its belly suddenly lit up, and its eight legs gripped the crossbeam, moving rapidly. Its massive body descended from the sky, rushing straight towards Blackie.
It abandoned its strategy of suppressing others remotely and instead joined forces with the Spider King to eliminate the biggest threat on the field.
Just as Lin Yun turned around to rush towards the door, his ears suddenly twitched.
With the boost of combat stimulants, he could hear faint crawling sounds and deep roars coming from outside the mall's outer wall, with at least a dozen presences in the distance.
He immediately stopped in his tracks.
If they broke through the gate when the attack first occurred, they might have been able to escape before the surrounding monsters gathered.
But now that the fighting has been going on in the hall for so long, the commotion has already spread for miles around.
In the dark ruins, countless strange beasts lurk, ready to pounce at the mere sound of their approach.
Pushing open the door now would be like plunging headlong into a horde of monsters; in the pitch-black night, you'd only die faster.
What's more, Blackie is still inside.
If they abandoned this stronghold leader, who was at the Martial Master level, and tried to escape on their own, they wouldn't live to see dawn.
Conversely, if they join forces to kill the Spider King and Spider Queen, the Shadow Spider swarm, without its leader, will inevitably collapse. The surrounding beasts will also be wary of the dissipation of the second-tier king's aura and dare not approach easily.
This is the only way out.
Lin Yun immediately turned around and shouted at the bearded man by the gate, "Don't break it! Going out now is certain death! We have to cooperate with Brother Hei and kill those two beasts!"
Upon hearing this, the dozen or so remaining hunters were all greatly alarmed.
Kill a second-tier alien beast?
With just this group of martial arts apprentices?
What's the difference between this and courting death?
The bearded man tightened his grip on the knife. He glanced at Blackie, who was fighting a bloody battle deep in the hall, and then at Lin Yun, whose expression was resolute.
Having spent time with him, he knew that Lin Yun was both brave and resourceful, and never boasted.
He made a snap decision, immediately kicked his stunned companion, and shouted, "Brother Lin is right! Going out will only mean feeding the beasts anyway, so we might as well fight these bastards! Only by killing the Spider King and Queen can we survive!"
The other hunters exchanged glances, their faces showing resolute determination.
Either way, death is inevitable; taking a gamble might offer a chance of survival.
Everyone gripped their weapons tightly and abandoned their attempts to break down the door.
Without any delay, Lin Yun led five of the strongest hunters, including Beard, towards the center of the battlefield to provide reinforcements.
The remaining hunters stayed near the stairwell, continuing to fend off the endless stream of ordinary Shadow Spiders.
Fortunately, the elite first-tier peak level had already been wiped out by Blackie and Lin Yun. Although the remaining spider swarm was large, they were all in the mid-to-late stage of the first tier. The group gritted their teeth and managed to hold on.
Blackie caught a glimpse of Lin Yun and his group rushing over out of the corner of his eye and instantly guessed Lin Yun's plan.
After a moment's thought, he also felt that Lin Yun's judgment was correct.
There's quite a commotion outside; it must be surrounded by strange beasts. Opening the door rashly would be like walking into a trap.
Rather than scattering and being defeated one by one, it's better to concentrate our forces and take down the leaders first.
With that in mind, Blackie no longer held back.
He took a deep breath, and his blood and qi suddenly surged. The blood-red light on the thick-backed sword increased several inches, and even the surface of his skin glowed with a faint red light.
"Exceeding the limit!"
Someone cried out in disbelief.
The hunters present all changed their expressions.
The Limit Break is a Martial Master's trump card, burning their foundation to gain power. If Blackie wanted to leave, with his Martial Master strength, breaking through alone would be no problem at all.
But he didn't leave. Instead, he activated his super-limit state, clearly indicating that he wanted to stay and live or die with them.
Lin Yun felt a surge of admiration.
The reason why the human race has been able to preserve the flame of life for a hundred years in a land surrounded by strange beasts has never been because of its unique natural talent. It is because of countless people like Blackie who, knowing the danger, refused to abandon their companions and used their own flesh and blood to carry out a path to survival.
"I've almost exhausted the Spider King's strength. You guys hold it off, I'll go deal with the Spider Queen!"
Blackie's voice was a little hoarse, but still loud and clear.
Before he finished speaking, he swayed, his speed nearly twice as fast as before, and his thick-backed sword, accompanied by a sharp whistling sound, precisely struck the old gash on the Spider King's foreleg.
With a crisp snap, the Spider King's thick foreleg broke off, and dark green fluid spurted out.
The Spider King let out a mournful hiss, its massive body staggering backward.
Taking advantage of the Spider Queen's retreat, Blackie continued his advance without stopping, transforming into a streak of blood-red light as he charged straight toward the Spider Queen who had just landed.
Enraged, the Spider King dragged his broken leg and tried to ambush Blackie from the side.
Just then, two figures rushed over at the same time.
"You beast, look this way!"
Lin Yun and the bearded man approached from the left and right, their short and long swords simultaneously slashing at the Spider King's flanks.
Ding!Ding!
Two crisp sounds rang out almost simultaneously.
With a casual flick of his side leg, the Spider King's sharp leg blade clashed with the weapons of the two men.
The first-tier high-grade short sword in Lin Yun's hand shattered instantly, breaking into two pieces; the long sword in the bearded man's hand also broke in response, the blade flying far away.
The two felt a tremendous force coming from them, their arms went numb, and they quickly used the recoil to retreat, barely avoiding the Spider King's other leg blade that followed.
They were so close; they were about to be cut in two.
Before anyone could react, the other four hunters arrived.
They were all at the late stage of Martial Apprentice cultivation, and at this moment they all raised their weapons and launched an attack on the Spider King from four directions.
Lin Yun tightened his Po Jun gauntlets, and the bearded man picked up a intact battle sword from the ground. The two of them, one on the left and one on the right, patched up the gap.
Six people surrounded the Shadow Spider King, which had lost a front leg.
With a loud shout, Lin Yun charged out first.
With his Windwalk technique pushed to its limit, his Swift Boots stomped across the corpses of insects, his figure moving so fast it was like a fleeting shadow, and in the blink of an eye he pounced straight at the Spider King from the front.
He gathered his strength in his right fist, channeling all the power of his Vajra Fist into his gauntlet, and slammed it hard into the Spider King's only intact foreleg joint.
With a muffled thud, Lin Yun's arm went numb.
The Spider King merely shifted its body slightly, its thick leg blade remaining completely still, leaving only a faint white mark on its carapace.
Enraged, the Spider King exerted force with all seven legs, its massive body suddenly turning towards Lin Yun, its intact front leg sweeping across with a whooshing sound.
Lin Yun was prepared. He twisted his waist and slid across the ground. His leg blade grazed Lin Yun's hair, severing a few strands, and he slammed heavily into a load-bearing pillar behind him, sending cement fragments crashing to the ground.
After landing, Lin Yun pushed off with his feet, once again widening the distance to the side.
His plan was simple: he was the fastest and drew the Spider King's full attention to himself, giving the five bearded men an opportunity to attack his old wounds.
The bearded man didn't waste the opportunity.
Almost at the same instant Lin Yun led the Spider King to the left, the bearded man and the other four hunters pounced from the right.
The five men formed a fan shape and simultaneously attacked the old wound where the Spider King's carapace had shattered after its leg was severed.
