Returning to my senior year of high school before college, I became addicted to dating.
Chapter 313 The Counselor's Difficulties
When Lin Feng and his two companions entered the teaching building, a long queue had already formed in the corridor.
Li Mo was in the same building as them, but not as a counselor, nor on the same floor; he went up to the third floor.
Lin Feng and his classmates' counselor was in charge of two classes in civil engineering and three classes in building electrical and intelligent systems. Nearly three hundred students all had to sign in with this one counselor.
There were twenty or thirty people crammed into the corridor waiting to sign in. People were still coming in.
The line started out of the office door, turned a corner, and stretched all the way to the stairwell.
The people in front of them walked quite quickly. Actually, signing in was very simple: just hand over your student ID, get it stamped, and you're done. It only took about ten minutes for Lin Feng and Zhang Wei to get their turn.
Lin Feng handed over his student ID.
Behind the desk sat a young man in his mid-twenties, wearing thin-rimmed glasses, with a few strands of dyed blond hair in his bangs, and a black windbreaker with the zipper halfway up, revealing the Adidas logo on his white T-shirt underneath.
He took Lin Feng's student ID, glanced at it, then looked up, his gaze carrying the scrutinizing quality typical of a counselor. "You're Lin Feng?"
His voice wasn't loud, but his tone was aloof.
Lin Feng nodded. "Mm."
The counselor placed the student ID on the table, without stamping it. "You were always taking leave last semester, and I even heard you were dating several girls at school. I didn't have time to deal with you last semester, but you'd better tone it down this semester. This is really bad for our school's reputation. Do you understand? Break up with those girlfriends immediately, you can only date one."
Lin Feng stood there, hands in his pockets, his tone indifferent, "What? Does university interfere with people's freedom to date? I can date as many people as I want, that's my business, what's it to you? Just do your job and mind your own business."
The counselor was stunned; no student had ever dared to speak to him in such a tone. He adjusted his glasses. "How dare you talk to me like that? Your student conduct is poor, and as your counselor, it's my responsibility to discipline you. You dare talk back to me? You want to lose points on your conduct, don't you?"
Lin Feng said nonchalantly, "If you like, you can deduct all my points. I don't need scholarships or grants, and I'm not interested in the title of 'Three Good Student,' so deduct as many points as you like."
The counselor tapped his fingers on the table a few times. "You...you think you're so great, huh?"
Zhang Wei leaned halfway out from behind, "What does it matter to you whether someone's awesome or not? Can you hurry up? There's a line of people waiting behind you, what are you dawdling about?"
The counselor turned around, pointed at Zhang Wei, and said, "And what the hell do you do?"
Zhang Wei retorted, "What the hell do you think I do? I'm a student, that's all. I'm next, and you're just spouting your sissy nonsense?"
The counselor's finger was still pointing at Zhang Wei, "You swear, right? You want points deducted too, right?"
Zhang Wei raised his voice, as if he had been waiting for this opportunity for a while, "Didn't you fucking start the insults? Everyone was listening! You were the one who spoke first with that banging, this is just me retaliating."
The counselor slammed his pen on the table, leaned back, crossed his arms, and said in a tone that sounded like an ultimatum, "Come on, you two, bow and apologize to me, or I won't be able to stamp this attendance record."
Lin Feng said coldly, "You can't explain anything. Hurry up, stop dawdling."
Zhang Wei added, "Exactly! You graduated from university and couldn't find a good job, so you stayed at the university as a lousy counselor, and you're acting like you're in charge? You're a piece of trash!"
The counselor's face changed several colors rapidly under the light, and the frequency of his chest heaving increased noticeably.
He really wanted to beat up those two arrogant freshmen, but so many students were watching! He took a deep breath and gritted his teeth, saying, "Fine, fine, you two have guts. If you're not going to apologize, get out of here. Next one."
He reached out and took a student ID.
Zhang Wei stopped the classmate who was about to step forward, saying, "Don't you know about first come, first served? Go stand at the back and wait patiently."
Although Zhang Wei was thin, he was taller than Lin Feng. The classmate only reached his chest. He looked up at Zhang Wei's big donkey face and silently returned to his original position.
Zhang Wei turned around again and shouted at the crowd queuing in the corridor, "Our counselor is controlling everything, even people's dating lives. Now he's abusing his power by not stamping our attendance records. If he doesn't stamp them, all of you have to wait."
The corridor fell silent for a moment. The students in the back exchanged glances. Some looked down at their phones, while others took a half-step forward and then retreated, but no one dared to speak up.
The counselor was trembling with anger, and shouted sternly, "What right do you have to stop them from signing in?"
Lin Feng said calmly, "Because we were ahead of them in line, what right do you have not to stamp our papers?"
Just as the two sides were locked in a stalemate, footsteps came from the stairwell at the end of the corridor.
A man in a dark gray jacket walked around the corner; his hair was gray, and his steps were steady. He was the vice dean.
He heard Zhang Wei shouting from upstairs and came down to see what was going on.
What a big thing happened yesterday, and he was even extorted by Lin Feng. He's got a lot of anger and nowhere to vent it! Anyone who dares to mess with him now is just asking for trouble.
The students bowed and greeted the vice dean, each with a gloating expression.
Those two were so arrogant just now, and the counselor was pretty stupid too. Now that the vice dean is here, things are going to get interesting.
The vice dean looked inside with a gloomy expression. His gaze first fell on the counselor, and then he saw a familiar figure.
He stared intently, and his whole body trembled. This person was the last person he wanted to see in his life—Lin Feng.
He pretended not to see it, turned around and was about to leave; that matter wasn't over yet! He was afraid that Lin Feng would try to extort him again.
In fact, Lin Feng had already seen him, and with a smirk, he said, "Oh! Dean, you've come at the right time. Please come and judge this matter."
The vice dean froze when Lin Feng called out to him, slowly turned around, and gave a smile that looked more like a grimace. "Oh! Isn't this Lin Feng? What's up?"
Everyone was stunned by the vice principal's attitude, speechless and frantically trying to imagine Lin Feng's background.
The counselor was also stunned and panicked.
Lin Feng said, "When I came to register, this counselor kept rambling on and on about a bunch of useless things. When I argued with him a couple of times, he refused to stamp my form. Isn't that an abuse of power?"
The vice dean frowned and looked at the counselor: "What are you all standing there for? Stamp it."
The counselor realized what was happening and quickly stamped Lin Feng and Zhang Wei's student ID cards with an attendance stamp.
Lin Feng looked at him and said two words: "Apologize."
The counselor stood up in a panic, bowed his head and said, "I was too nosy and made a mistake in a moment of impulse. I'm sorry."
Lin Feng nodded and patted him on the shoulder: "Okay, I forgive you. Be more careful next time, understand?"
The counselor nodded vigorously, "Understood, understood."
Lin Feng walked to the vice dean's side, put his arm around his shoulder, and said, "It's alright. He's a young man! It's easy for him to get arrogant when he has a little power. That's normal. We should give him a chance to make amends."
The vice dean nodded and said, "Yes, yes, you are so generous! You truly deserve to be our school's most outstanding student."
Lin Feng laughed and said, "Okay, I'll be going now. I have things to do this afternoon! I'll treat you to dinner another day."
After saying that, Lin Feng left gracefully amidst the shocked gazes of the crowd.
