Wizard: This mushroom is too fierce.

Chapter 23: Hunting Runes

After reviewing the knowledge he remembered, Roland finally understood why Professor Asius had repeatedly asked him if he was willing to join the ceremony.

Hunters are hunted by people. In the harsh environment of the hunting ritual, each reward requires you to complete a seemingly impossible task.

This mission is all about fighting!

All the participants from the astral plane who were involved in the ritual were fighting each other!

Battles can occur anywhere in the arena, otherworld, abyss, hell, or even the wizarding plane and the astral plane.

Cruel and bloody!

After the relevant knowledge was explained, a colorful rune suddenly appeared in Roland's mental space.

The rune, in seven colors and in the shape of a rhombus, occupies a corner of the space, with the word "Hunting" inscribed on its surface in wizarding script.

Roland projected his consciousness into it, and immediately a signal came through.

【leave】

In an instant, Roland understood the use of the rune; it was roughly like a portal that allowed him to enter the hunting plane and participate in the ritual.

Before leaving, Roland suddenly heard a voice in his ear: "Truth seeker of the Hunting School, your next hunt will be in ten years. Your enemy is 'Gabbs,' a level one fire elemental from the Infernal World. This hunt will take place in the 'Hunter' Arena in the Astral Plane."

"Victory means everything!"

"Failure means losing everything!"

.......

Roland opened his eyes and found himself lying on a warm and comfortable wooden bed. Outside the window was a lush green forest.

"You're awake?" a voice rang out, and Roland turned his head to find that it was the parrot with the beautiful feathers.

"Where is Professor Ashus?" Roland tried to stand up, but his head felt heavy, as if he had forgotten something.

"You mean that jerk?" The parrot opened its beak in a human-like manner. "Him? He's probably off sleeping somewhere again. I haven't seen him all day."

"Why do you always say that Professor Ashius likes to sleep?" Roland asked, puzzled.

The parrot blinked its black eyes, then flew to Roland's side and whispered in his ear, "Ashius has a problem with his body..."

Upon hearing the reason, Roland was slightly taken aback. He seemed to have heard some earth-shattering secret, and his expression suddenly became melancholy: "Is that so... I see."

Roland gradually regained consciousness. The sun was shining brightly outside the window. He asked softly, "I disappeared for several days, and then I was unconscious for a long time?"

"You only disappeared for a moment, but you were unconscious for three days," the parrot replied.

Roland nodded and continued, "Could you contact Professor Ashius? I have many questions I'd like to ask him."

The parrot's large beak twitched, and it spread its wings, saying with a human-like disdain, "Since you've just woken up, Lord Haik will let it go."

"Next time you ask me for free, I won't be so polite." Haik the parrot's voice grew louder: "Remember, I like to eat the 'star-striped bamboo worms' sold by the Witch's Workshop."

As the sound faded, its seven-colored feathers shimmered, and in an instant, only a seven-colored phantom remained in the sky.

Three seconds later, Professor Ashius, dressed in a white wizard's robe, appeared in the room.

"How are you feeling?" Ashius sat down and first used his mental power to examine Roland's body: "Your body doesn't seem to have changed much."

"Did the ritual's enhancements primarily affect the mushrooms you chose?"

Roland nodded and asked, "Teacher, why don't I see Karak?"

Ashius looked rather pale. He pointed to his head and explained, "Carefully sense your own spiritual world and observe the special rune that originated from the hunting ritual."

Roland closed his eyes and entered his mental space, a deep blue space divided into two areas, one of which was the largest and exuded the scent of plants.

Roland turned his gaze there and saw three wood-attribute runes linked together by his mental power, resembling a vine.

On the other side is the special rune [Hunting], which is seven-colored and prismatic in shape.

According to his memories before falling into a coma, there was only one rune there. However, when Roland looked again, he suddenly discovered that another rune had appeared in the lower left corner of the first rune.

As he focused his consciousness on it, his pupils constricted and his body trembled involuntarily. This white, square-shaped rune actually represented a summoning!

This is a complete spell that can summon creatures from a public space.

"You should have seen it, right?" Ashius's voice rang out at the right moment. He said nostalgically, "This rune is a summoning spell, a legacy accumulated by our Hunting School in hunting rituals."

"This spell allows you to establish a connection with your contracted creature, and even if you are far away from countless planes and even if you are under special suppression, you can still summon it through targeted summoning."

Roland's mind stirred slightly, and an unimaginably complex spell model was automatically constructed by his mental power.

The next moment, white summoning runes lit up, and a large amount of magic power poured into them, causing magic runes to appear in the magic hut.

As the voice rang out, a swordsman clad in sky-blue plate armor slowly emerged from the white magic circle and respectfully knelt down: "Great King, in accordance with your will, the Swift Wind Swordsman, Gukarak, answers your call."

Ashius's pupils contracted slightly, but soon a look of curiosity appeared on his face. He stared at Karak with a scrutinizing gaze, his mental energy sweeping over him.

"Unborn magic!"

"The body is still made of fungal matter."

"The armor is plate armor made of a special material, and the longsword also seems to be made of some kind of plant material."

Ashius asked, puzzled, "Didn't your contracted creature condense an energy core when it was baptized in the hunting space?"

"This is impossible." A strange expression rose on Ashius's face. For a few moments, he wanted to dissect the creature in front of him and explore the questions within.

"In the astral plane, for a being to become stronger, it must master some kind of energy. This could be magic, the Force, or even the static electricity that a being possesses..."

"Could it not be biological evolution?" Ashius circled Karak for a while before standing aside, deep in thought. "Could it be some kind of cultivation method?"

"Yes, teacher... Karak seems to have received a legacy from another dimension," Roland explained. "Its evolutionary trajectory seems to be shifting towards becoming a powerful Storm Swordsman."

"I see the power of storms in its evolution."

"However, it seems that specific breathing techniques need to be trained step by step in order to continuously become stronger."

"Wind Breathing Technique?" Ashus smiled slightly after hearing Roland's explanation. "Very good... Roland, it seems your first hunt has been quite successful."

"This kind of reward is the best for a newcomer, especially for us wizards."

Ashius pointed at Karak and then explained, "You can write many good articles through this otherworldly inheritance."

"These articles can be transformed into relevant resources, and can give you a significant advantage when you are admitted to a higher-level wizarding academy in the future."

"By the way!" Ashius suddenly frowned. "What's your next hunting target?"

"Where is it, and what time is it?"
