Wizard: This mushroom is too fierce.

Chapter 39: Spells and Snail Speed

April 1st in the Wizarding Calendar marked the third day of Roland's experiment.

"The first experiment has failed!" Roland stood on the lab bench, staring at the Puji in the first petri dish. Placing the Puji completely in the converted drug solution was perhaps too radical.

The wild Puji's body had turned completely black, and wisps of black smoke were emanating from its body.

Puji was far too weak. The bloodline purification potion altered the structure within Puji's body, completely reversing the previously balanced negative characteristics hidden within it during the magical experiment, which then took over Puji's body entirely.

This resulted in a failed experiment producing a magical toxin.

Puji's body gradually collapsed, Roland's expression stiffened as he cleaned up the experimental subjects one by one.

On April 5th, a wild Puji that had undergone bloodline modification exploded and died. Roland conducted multiple assessments and found that this method is not currently applicable to plant bodies. Although the internal hyphae and biological blood vessels of the Puji are very similar, they do not have internal organs. They only have tendrils hidden on the surface of their bodies that can convert energy.

failure!

Another failure!

Five days later... only one of Roland's ten petri dishes remained.

In the petri dish, a thin, blood-red twig is stuck in the right arm of the black Puji, tightly connected to Puji's body.

Looking at the experimental project for which there were no immediate results, Roland took a deep breath, took off his clothes, and left the experimental cabin.

Outside the door, Jin Duoduo was leading a group of little Pujis back and forth in training, trying to find a way to become stronger.

The mushroom population has grown a bit more recently. After the experimental subjects from Roland's failed experiment were planted in the corner of the yard, another batch of mushrooms, about five in total, has sprouted.

In other words, there are currently twenty-six Poogies obeying Roland's orders: one Luck Poogie, one Swordmaster Poogie who has inherited the Swordmaster's legacy, and twenty-four ordinary Poogies.

"Lord Roland... there's a letter for you!" The minotaur Quinn stood respectfully beside Roland and pointed outside the courtyard.

A middle-aged male wizard dressed in a black wizard's robe was sitting on the back of a magical snail. His face was yellowish and he had a curious look on his face, as if he was looking out over Roland's villa courtyard.

Roland left the house, walked towards the door, and came to his side: "Hello... May I ask who you are?"

The middle-aged wizard quickly jumped down from the magical snail and took out an envelope from a closed box on the side of the snail: "My lord... hello, I am a deliveryman from Snail Express, responsible for the business in Northwind City."

"Here is a letter from the student union organization 'House of Magic Plants'."

Roland blinked, took the letter, and looked at the snail curiously, asking, "Is this a magical creature that has undergone bloodline modification?"

The middle-aged wizard chuckled awkwardly: "No, sir... Bloodline modification magic is very difficult to learn outside the Deep Caverns."

"This snail is a type of giant snail. It doesn't possess magic by itself. It was our Snail Express that specially engraved some runes on its body, giving it the magic of floating close to the ground and accelerating."

"Amazing!" Roland exclaimed, gazing at the snail with an expression of amazement. "Thank you for your explanation..."

"It is my honor to serve you, sir!" The middle-aged wizard bowed hurriedly and said, "You live in this villa and are so young, you must be a wizard with outstanding talent."

"My name is Ryan Ford. This is my contact information. If you need to transport goods, you can send someone to me."

"Thank you for using Snail Express!" Although Ryan was older than Roland, his eyes were full of respect. Clearly, in his eyes, Roland's future was bright.

Upon returning to the courtyard, Roland opened the letter:

"Congratulations, junior Roland, on winning first place in this knowledge competition held by the Magic Plant House!"

"As advertised in the competition, I have prepared a magic crystal card for you containing one thousand magic stones. This is the winner's reward."

"Besides that, the Magic Plant House welcomes you!"

"Your potential has been recognized by our Magic Plant House, especially in terms of knowledge reserves. Internally, we have rated you as a three-star student and believe that you are definitely capable of becoming a first-class wizard apprentice."

"If you would like to join us, or if you want to further develop your career in the field of plant cultivation, you can come to the 'Plant Cottage' at 35 Mink Street to discuss the details. We can provide you with relevant jobs, knowledge, and related projects."

After reading it, Roland's face lit up with joy. He touched the deep blue magic crystal card, pondering to himself, "It came at just the right time!"

"My magic stones are indeed almost gone."

Although only half a month had passed, Roland's magic stones were being consumed like water slipping through his fingers.

The remaining three hundred magic stones were quickly consumed under the dual pressure of experiments and cultivation.

The magical materials used in the experiments, the energizing potions to accelerate meditation... fortunately, all the efforts paid off.

The Energizing Potion is a potion designed by the potion makers of the Deep Caverns specifically for third-class wizard apprentices. After use, it can accelerate the user's absorption of elemental particles in the air, increasing their original innate meditation speed by about fifty percent.

Yes... and this potion is significantly more potent than the mental potions specifically supplied to prospective apprentices. Not only does it cost ten magic stones, but it can only be taken three times a week.

Fortunately, Roland received a gift from Moro, a senior from the House of Wizards, at the last gathering, and successfully changed his class to Knight Squire, gaining related bonuses.

Currently, Roland's talent is roughly equivalent to a fourth-level wizard, and his physique far surpasses that of wizards of the same level.

[Attributes: Constitution: 2.0, Spirit: 5.5]

Roland has already constructed five main wood-attribute runes, and through the Fate Meditation method, he has absorbed the star-attribute magical material "Starlight Insect Powder" acquired from the forum to construct three speed runes, giving himself three spell slots.

These three spell slots are for the extremely simple and primitive "Bloodline Extraction Method," the classic planting spell "Plant Growth" from the Botanical School, and "Fighting Comrades," which allows wizard apprentices to connect with magical plants.

Plant Growth is a 0.1-level auxiliary spell that helps plants gather plant essence more quickly and achieve rapid growth. According to the Botanical School of Magic Encyclopedia, if cast by a powerful wizard specializing in this spell system, a single seed can instantly cultivate an army of magical plants.

This spell has great potential, with many advanced spells. In addition, Roland believes it is very suitable for him at present, as it can both assist in experiments and cultivate loyal followers who respect him as king in his spare time.

Fighting alongside comrades is the foundation of most plant-based wizards. This spell has no level, and its main function is to allow the wizard's spiritual power to be projected into the magical plant, enabling it to communicate, fight, and even grow stronger together with the wizard's apprentice.

This is also the most fundamental difference between plant-based wizard apprentices and wizards from other schools. In fact, in Roland's view, this thing is just a very low-level fungus master.

However, compared to its own innate talent as a fungus master, this spell imposes far more restrictions on magical plants.
