Simultaneous Transmigration: We Level Up Alone Across Multiple Worlds
Chapter 18 The Expected Surprise Attack
The safe house is located on the twelfth floor of a high-rise office building in the port area.
The area was originally the office space of a trading company, but it was temporarily vacated.
Long fluorescent tubes illuminated rows of empty workstations, and a half-cup of overnight coffee remained on one of the tables.
The elevator stopped on the eleventh floor.
The last section involved taking the fire escape stairs. Gojo Satoru pushed open the fire door in front of him, and the sound of the iron door hitting the wall echoed throughout the empty office area.
"Right here."
He pushed his sunglasses up his nose.
"It's bigger than a college dormitory."
Riko walked in through the fire door.
The backpack strap was slung over one shoulder, while the other hand held the hem of the school uniform skirt.
She stood at the entrance to the fire escape, her gaze sweeping from the empty workstations on the left to the pile of cardboard boxes on the right, finally landing on the floor-to-ceiling window.
The view outside the window is the skyline of the port area.
The sea surface in the distance shimmered with a grayish-blue hue, like a piece of glass that hadn't been wiped clean.
Misato Kuroi followed Riko in.
I went to the corner, opened the water tank, took out a bottle of mineral water, and placed it next to the tatami mat.
Riko walked over and sat down cross-legged.
He moved quickly, and sat down with his back ramrod straight.
She placed her schoolbag on her lap, pressed her hands against it, and looked out the window.
Xia Youjie was the last to come in.
He closed the fire door and fastened the latch. He took out his phone from his pocket, glanced at the screen, and frowned slightly.
Gojo Satoru leaned against the partition, the lollipop on his lips shifting to the other side.
"Before escorting her back to the high school, try to fulfill all of Riko's requests."
The office area was silent for two seconds.
Riko looked up at Xia Youjie.
"Then I'm going to school."
Xia Youjie turned his phone screen towards her.
The screen displays a marked map, with three red circles around the Lianzhi Women's College.
"Going back is not an option."
"I don't care." Riko's voice rose half an octave, and that deliberate tone returned.
"I also have a prayer service today. And..."
Tian Zechen leaned against the wall by the window, agreeing with Xia Youjie's consideration.
"The school is no good."
Riko turned and glared at him.
"Those people don't care if there are other students around. If you go, your classmates will get involved."
Riko glared at him, but in the end she realized they were right and turned her face away.
Tian Zechen took a step forward from the wall, walked to the French window, and glanced at the street below.
"If you want to go back to your old life... you can go somewhere else. You can live without school."
Riko crossed her arms over her chest.
"So I can go wherever I want?"
Xia Youjie nodded.
"In principle."
Riko walked to the floor-to-ceiling window.
She pressed her face against the glass, looking out, her nose almost touching the glass.
The sea stretches out in the distance, and from this height, the ocean appears incredibly vast.
"Okinawa...I want to go to Okinawa and see the sea!"
Gojo Satoru pulled the lollipop out of his mouth.
Xia Youjie and Wutiao Wu exchanged a glance.
"it is good."
Gojo Satoru shrugged.
"Anyway, staying here is just sitting in an office."
Xia Youjie began contacting and arranging transportation to Okinawa.
He went to a corner to make a phone call, while Kuroi was rebraiding Riko's hair.
Riko sat cross-legged, her hair ribbon pulled off by Kuroi, her hair falling loose over her shoulders.
She lowered her head, fiddling with a loose thread on the hem of her school uniform skirt.
Tian Zechen sat down on the cardboard box next to the tatami mat and took out the cell biology textbook from his pocket.
The cover was already a little frayed, and a small strip of tape was stuck to the creases on the spine.
He turned to the page with the note tucked inside... Immune rejection.
The paper had a pale yellow tint under the fluorescent light.
Riko's voice came from the side.
"What are you looking at?"
Riko turned her head to the side and looked over his shoulder at his book.
"biology."
"……textbook?"
"I guess so." He showed her the cover.
The fluorescent tube emitted a faint humming sound.
Gojo Satoru tossed the lollipop stick into the wastebasket under his workstation, stood up, and stretched.
Xia Youjie had just hung up the phone and walked back from the corner, still holding his phone in his hand.
"We've already made contact..."
Bang! ! !
The entire floor-to-ceiling window was shattered by the explosion.
Riko and Kuroi were on the tatami mats next to the floor-to-ceiling window.
Kuroi stood behind Riko, his hands still holding the unfinished braid.
The shockwave struck from the side, lifting both of them off the ground simultaneously.
Riko and Kuroi were enveloped by the blast wave, passing through the wide gap in the floor-to-ceiling window, and thrown into the sky twelve stories above.
Kuroi's hand was still outstretched towards Riko, her fingers spread open, but she couldn't grab anything.
Tian Zechen pushed off the ground with his right foot.
The tiles cracked like spiderwebs beneath his feet.
He lowered his body, stepped over the overturned desk, and landed on the remaining metal frame of the window.
The aluminum alloy was bent by being stepped on.
He kicked out with one foot.
He leaped out through the gap on the twelfth floor.
The wind blew into my ears.
The streets, vehicles, and roadside trees below rapidly zoomed in on the view.
He reached forward with his right hand, first grabbing Kuroi's wrist, and using the momentum of the grab to throw his body forward. He then stretched out his left hand, his fingers passing through Riko's loose hair, grabbing the back of her collar, and pulling her back.
Riko's body was pulled back by him and bumped into his chest.
Kuroi was pulled to his side.
The three people were stacked on top of each other in mid-air, below them was the height of a twelve-story building and a gray asphalt road.
The fall continues.
Tian Zechen tightened his arms, pulling the two people close to him. He didn't close his eyes. The wind filled his ears as he stared at the street below... the distance was rapidly shrinking.
"Summer oil!"
The cursed spirits appeared below them.
Xia Youjie's flying spirit circled around from the side, its wingspan fully extended, blocking out the sunlight overhead.
The cursed spirit's body was flat, like a flying carpet, and it lifted the three people up from below, catching them steadily.
Tian Zechen's back landed on Zhou Ling's back first, with Riko and Kuroi pressing down on him.
The impact was largely absorbed by the cursed spirit's body.
The flying spirit traced an arc in mid-air before slowly landing.
Riko's fingers gripped his collar.
"Alright, now let them handle it themselves."
Riko was still not quite recovered.
Kuroi came over and squeezed Tennori Riko's hand.
In the office area, the battle is over.
As Bayer burst in from outside the building, he stepped on the back of a low-level cursed spirit. Before his body had even fully entered the window frame, Gojo Satoru's "Azure" had already pushed against his chest.
He tossed it casually.
Bayer was thrown out of the broken window and his body crashed into the glass curtain wall of the office building across the street, shattering into pieces that fell downwards.
It crashed straight into the concrete pillar of the building opposite.
Ke Kun climbed over the access door, his feet not yet touching the ground... Xia Youjie's second cursed spirit circled around from the ceiling behind him.
The tentacles wrapped around Kekun's waist and arms, suspending him in mid-air.
They grabbed him and slammed him against the wall.
Boom!
Kekun's body was embedded in the plasterboard.
Xia Youjie stood in the middle of the office area, staring at Kekun embedded in the plasterboard for a moment. After confirming that the other party did not move again, he released the tentacles of the cursed spirit.
Kekun's body slid down the wall and collapsed into the pile of plaster.
"Done."
