Huayu: Starting with binding the front desk

Chapter 19 "The Light Chaser"

Wang Zhe let out a muffled groan, feeling the weight on his body. He slowly opened his eyes and saw Wang Cheran's face so close to his, a face that perfectly overlapped with the dream he had just had.

It's just that it's a different person.

Wang Churan had just washed her face, and a few strands of hair on her forehead were still damp. She was only wearing a loose-fitting house dress with the neckline hanging down loosely.

She lay on top of Wang Zhe, and through the thin blanket of summer, he could clearly feel the warmth and soft curves of the girl's body.

"Get up quickly."

Wang Zhe's voice was a little strained. He propped himself up and sat up halfway, not wanting her to see this embarrassing scene.

However, he did not notice the slight upturn of Wang Cherish's lips.

Wang Churan slowly propped herself up, her wide collar swaying gently with the movement.

Wang Zhe's gaze involuntarily fell upon her, his brain immediately shutting down. He turned his head to the side, refusing to look at Wang Cheran.

"You can go out now, I'll be right there."

"What, are you still shy?"

Wang Churan did not get up, but instead leaned forward a little more.

Now Wang Zhe could see it clearly, and he felt a warm current flowing out of his nose.

"You're not a child anymore, be careful," Wang Zhe said, gently pushing her away.

"What are you afraid of? I'm your sister."

"She's not related to me." Wang Zhe said helplessly, but didn't look at her.

Wang Churan noticed Wang Zhe's embarrassment and stopped teasing him.

She stood up nonchalantly, looked at Wang Zhe, and said, "Get up quickly, you still have to take me to the airport later!"

"understood."

After Wang Churan left the room, Wang Zhe lifted the covers and sat up, looked down at himself, and closed his eyes in pain.

He silently opened the wardrobe and pulled out a new pair of underwear.

So embarrassing.

Wang Zhe thought to himself, "Let you be arrogant for another year. You'll have to wait until I come of age."

He is now certain that Wang Churan did it on purpose yesterday.

……

Wang Churan, like Wang Zhe, is an art student in this year's cohort. She will be participating in intensive training and school will start soon.

So after celebrating Wang Zhe's birthday, she packed her bags and prepared to return to Shanghai.

After seeing Wang Cheran off in the morning, the house became quiet again, free from the bickering between the two girls.

Wang Zhe glanced at Tian Xiwei, who was curled up on the sofa, and couldn't help but ask, "Aren't you going home before school starts?"

"Train ticket for tomorrow afternoon."

Tian Xiwei put down her phone, glared at him sideways, and said in an unfriendly tone, "What, in such a hurry to get rid of me?"

"It's good that you know."

Wang Zhe slowly lay down on the other side of the sofa, his tone slightly arrogant.

Tian Xi snorted coldly. Without saying a word, she used her bare feet to strike, but she didn't use any force at all.

This is how she and Wang Zhe get along: playful bickering, neither willing to give in; if he says something to her, she'll punch him...

This time, Wang Zhe didn't dodge. He grabbed her ankle and started tickling her soles with his other hand.

"Hahahaha..."

"Wang Zhe! Let go... haha..."

Tian Xi was so ticklish that she rolled around on the sofa, almost laughing until tears streamed down her face.

But she wouldn't give up. While laughing, she grabbed Wang Zhe's neck with her other hand, and the two of them wrestled together on the sofa.

Just then, Wang Zhe's phone rang, and he quickly let go of his hand.

But Tian Xiwei still clung tightly to his neck, lying on top of him.

"Let go, the phone is ringing."

"To admit defeat or not?"

Wang Zhe said helplessly, "I admit defeat. Let it go."

Tian Xiwei then snorted and reluctantly let him go.

She shifted to a more comfortable position, and her bare feet rested on Wang Zhe's legs.

Wang Zhe didn't pay any attention, picked up his phone and glanced at it; the caller ID showed Bai Jingting.

The video call connected, and he greeted the person on the other end of the screen: "Brother Bai, what's up?"

Bai Jingting first offered a "Happy Birthday, little brother" greeting.

Although I already mentioned it yesterday, I'm going to go over it again today.

After exchanging pleasantries, he got straight to the point, first sincerely thanking Wang Zhe for recommending him to the "Rush to the Dead Summer" production team.

Guo Jingming initially wanted Wang Zhe to play Lu Zhiang, but Wang Zhe declined.

Wang Zhe thought of the character Lu Zhiang, which was Bai Jingting's representative role. The two got along well in the "Whirlwind Girl" crew, so he recommended Bai Jingting to him.

"Brother Bai, you're too kind. I just recommended you to the production team. Whether or not we use you depends on your own abilities."

Wang Zhe paused and then added, "Besides, you took good care of me a lot during 'Whirlwind Girl'."

Bai Jingting wasn't one to stand on ceremony. "Then I won't be polite with my brother. I'll treat you to dinner another day."

"I have other things to discuss with you today. Director Guo wants you to create the OST for 'Rush to the Dead Summer'..."

Wang Zhe understood immediately, but didn't press for why Guo Xiaosi didn't contact his studio directly, but instead went through such a long process to have Bai Jingting deliver the message.

"Okay, Brother Bai, just send me Director Guo's contact information."

Bai Jingting smiled and said, "Okay, I'll send your WeChat to Director Guo. Just accept it."

"Then I won't bother you any longer..."

He paused, glanced at the corner of the screen, and a meaningful smile appeared on his lips.

"But little brother, it's not good to fall in love too early."

The video call ended.

Wang Zhe was stunned for a moment, then realized that he was holding something soft and warm in his hand.

Looking down, he saw that Tian Xiwei's feet were still in his arms, and his fingers had been unconsciously playing with her bare feet while he was thinking.

By sheer coincidence, this scene was witnessed by Bai Jingting.

He looked at Tian Xiwei expressionlessly.

Tian Xiwei was covering her mouth and chuckling, her shoulders shaking slightly. She had clearly seen it all along but deliberately didn't warn her.

"What are you doing?" Wang Zhe let go and pushed her foot aside.

"It's not good to fall in love too early." Tian Xiwei mischievously repeated Bai Jingting's words from earlier.

The next second, the two started fighting again.

Let it be a misunderstanding.

Anyway, Bai Jingting isn't a talkative person and won't tell anyone.

Moreover, Wang Zhe was well aware of Tian Xiwei's thoughts, as well as those of Wang Churan and Zhang Jingyi; he knew them all.

He just hasn't figured out how to handle it yet, and besides, he's still just a high school student.

After dinner, Wang Zhe had just sat down on the sofa when Tian Xiwei pulled him out for a walk to aid digestion.

A few days ago, when Wang Churan was still around, the two of them were openly and secretly competing with each other, and neither of them had a chance to be alone with Wang Zhe.

Now that the annoying third wheel is finally gone, she has to seize this opportunity.

On the path in the community park, the streetlights shone through the gaps in the leaves, casting two shadows that were sometimes long and sometimes short.

Tian Xi skipped and hopped ahead, humming a cheerful tune, and occasionally glancing back at Wang Zhe.

Wang Zhe followed slowly behind her.

Tian Xi hummed "Wei Wei" from beginning to end. After singing it once, she turned around and walked backwards, looking at him with bright eyes: "I'm done singing, you sing one too."

Wang Zhe nodded, his mind racing as he was deciding what to sing, when he looked up and saw the scene before him.

The glow of the streetlights enveloped her as she walked ahead, and I followed slowly behind.

I remembered the invitation to sing "Summer Solstice" this afternoon.

He smiled gently and began to sing softly.

"I can follow behind you, like a shadow chasing the light in a dream."

I can wait at this intersection, whether you pass by or not...

As Tian Xiwei listened to his ethereal singing, her steps gradually slowed down, and finally she stopped.

The night wind passed between the two of them, and her large eyes were filled with undisguised and open love.

She didn't say anything, but slowly walked around behind Wang Zhe, following the lyrics, stepping on his shadow as she walked forward.

His shadow was cast on the bluestone pavement, and her toes landed right on the heart of his shadow.

Only after the last note faded did she speak, her voice a few decibels softer than usual: "A new song?"

Wang Zhe nodded: "The OST for 'Rush to the Dead Summer' is called 'The Light Chaser'."
