Kyoto Night Kiss

Chapter 1 Reunion

After standing in high heels for eight hours, Qu Yun's legs were incredibly sore.

Just as she was about to secretly tiptoe and relax for a moment, two people walked up to her. She immediately switched to her most standard smile: "Hello, do you need to check in?"

The moment Qu Yun looked up, her eyes met those of the man standing in front of her.

Her heart tightened, and an overwhelming pain choked her, making it hard to breathe.

The memories of the past become clearer amidst the suffocating numbness.

It feels like just yesterday that she spent half a year preparing for a precious internship opportunity, but still fell short, and burst into tears in front of this man.

Lu Junhe pulled her onto his lap and kissed her neck as if it were a precious treasure. "Don't cry. As long as you've tried your best, that's enough. I can give you the spots, connections, and resources you want."

"Things that others have to work their hardest to get, Yunyun can get just by reaching out to me."

Later, Lu Junhe was busy taking over the family business and often went on business trips. Whenever Qu Yun had a day off, he would take her with him.

He bought her houses in Beijing, Hong Kong Island, and Shanghai—those prime locations where every inch of land was incredibly valuable. Those houses were filled with traces of the two of them.

Looking back, it has been seven years.

Has the VIP reception manager at this hotel changed?

The woman who was with him wriggled out of Lu Junhe's arms and looked at Qu Yun, the receptionist, with a smile, and continued, "Please just search for the name Lu Junhe. We have a presidential suite to stay in here."

Qu Yun's excellent professionalism helped her calm down.

She typed those three words into the computer, and the notes quickly loaded.

Presidential Suite 8888, leased for five years, with guests staying twice a month.

The room key card has a gold-plated logo printed on it.

Qu Yun presented it with both hands.

The man's long, slender fingers took the room key and then coldly withdrew it.

It seemed as if he was deliberately avoiding her touch.

Lu Junhe turned and left.

Watching his back as he took the elevator up with the woman beside him, Qu Yun's fingertips turned white.

Pretending not to know each other is the best ending for her and Lu Junhe after going through so much.

Qu Yun felt a dull ache in the scar on her stomach.

She thought she hated more.

Just as she was about to leave work, Qu Yun received a call from the guest room.

The woman's voice was familiar, but compared to her coquettish tone when a man was beside her, it now carried a hint of arrogance: "Bring up two boxes of condoms."

"I want a dedicated employee who serves our VIP clients to come up here, not just some random nobody."

Qu Yun didn't look at the notes on the computer. She walked into the warehouse and took two small blue boxes off the shelf.

She knocked on the door, and it opened.

The other party had clearly been waiting for a long time.

Tang Bingqing had just finished showering. Her hair was still wet, and she was wrapped in a white bathrobe. The belt around her waist wasn't tied tightly, and the water droplets sliding down her chest made the atmosphere in the room ambiguous.

She raised her hand and slowly took the things from Qu Yun's hand. "Miss Qu, it's been a long time. I didn't expect you to be working as a receptionist now."

The tone, whether overt or covert, was full of contempt.

Qu Yun pursed her lips slightly.

Long ago, Miss Tang, who came from a privileged family and was considered Lu Junhe's childhood sweetheart, and whose families had almost arranged a marriage between them when they were young, looked down on her, along with Lu Junhe's mother.

Qu Yun replied neither humbly nor arrogantly, "It's just a job, to earn a living."

"That's true. Being good at serving people is your skill. Maybe among our VIP clients, there's another rich husband you can snag." Tang Bingqing nodded, her fingers rubbing the box in her palm.

She stared at Qu Yun, then abruptly changed the subject: "I shouldn't suspect that you found out Junhe and I were staying at this hotel and are trying to take advantage of the situation, right?"

Qu Yun wanted to laugh.

The suite behind the woman was deathly silent.

Her voice echoed the same sentiment: "I've long since let go of the past."

"Miss Tang, are you so concerned because you're afraid Mr. Lu still has feelings for me?"

Tang Bingqing felt as if she had heard a huge joke.

Her gaze sharpened, and she warned, enunciating each word clearly:

"Qu Yun, he hates you to death."

After closing the door, Tang Bingqing, who should have been the one with the upper hand and won, felt very uncomfortable.

Suddenly, the study door opened.

Lu Junhe had just finished dealing with official business, and there was a hint of fatigue between his strong brows.

His gaze swept over the woman in front of him, and he frowned, somewhat displeased: "Why are you dressed like this?"

"I just took a shower...it's too hot, so I didn't change into my pajamas yet," Tang Bingqing stammered as she explained, holding something in her hand as if it were a hot potato.

She hid it too obviously behind her back.

Lu Junhe grabbed her wrist and lifted her up.

The box appeared right in front of him, gleaming brightly.

"Did she come up here just now?" he asked, his deep voice as cold as a pool of icy water.

Unable to struggle, Tang Bingqing could only say in a soft voice, "Ouch, Junhe, be gentle, you're hurting me..."

The man ignored him and asked again, "You asked her to bring it up."

The room was silent.

Lu Junhe's eyes were dark as he strode outside.

Tang Bingqing's words were stuck in her throat, her long, sharp nails digging deep into her skin.

The elevator doors slowly closed, and Qu Yun leaned against the wall, closing her eyes briefly.

The phone rang at that moment.

Qu Yun immediately stood up straight, composed herself, and replied with a smile, "Cheng Chongchong, if I remember correctly, tomorrow is your first day of elementary school, right? Aren't you going to bed early?"

On the phone, the little boy mimicked her tone, his mischievous voice ringing out: "Qu Yun, I'm hungry! If you don't buy me a bowl of the most delicious bubble wontons in the world..."

"Your son won't die of handsomeness, he'll starve to death!"

Thinking of Cheng Tongzhou's special instruction to help the chubby boy lose weight before she returned to China, Qu Yun suddenly felt a headache coming on.

She walked back to the front desk, just as Cheng Chongchong was throwing a tantrum on the phone: "Mom, please, please buy it for me, Mom!"

The noise was so loud that I bet my two colleagues nearby heard it.

Qu Yun covered the speakerphone of her phone and smiled apologetically at the two of them.

She replied helplessly, "Okay, Mom will buy it for you."

Qu Yun packed her bag; it was time to go home.

The female colleague, who looked to be in her early twenties, handed her a cookie. She was curious about this newcomer who had only been there for a little over a week. "Sister Qu Yun, I didn't expect you to be so young and already married and have children."

"I'm not married yet," Qu Yun replied.

The female colleague's mouth dropped open, seemingly too shocked to speak.

Qu Yun smiled and said, "I was just kidding."

"Also, I'm not young anymore, and my son is starting first grade tomorrow."

As soon as he finished speaking, a black figure stood not far away.

Lu Junhe was still wearing his trench coat, his tall and aloof figure was accentuated by his fine, black hair that slightly obscured his eyes.

First grade, seven years old.

Seven years.

He looked at Qu Yun's departing figure.
