Kyoto Night Kiss
Chapter 37 With His Old House
The plane landed in the port city.
Buildings stand quietly on both sides of the river, the sea is calm and reflects the sky and clouds, and several private yachts are quietly moored on the shore, exuding an air of extravagance and decadence.
This is Qu Yun's first time visiting this place.
I heard Lu Junhe say before that his family had bloodlines from this area, and that his grandparents seemed to have settled here.
Why did she inadvertently think of that man again?
Qu Yun hated herself like this, so she took out her phone, took a picture of the harbor, and posted it on her WeChat Moments.
No caption.
She wanted her father to see it.
The old calligrapher lived on the mountain. Qu Yun arrived at the foot of the mountain according to the address. Just thinking about walking along the winding mountain road to the mountainside made her legs feel inexplicably heavy.
But she had no other choice but to bite the bullet and go for it.
Qu Yun had only walked for a few minutes when she stared at the stone steps and wanted to start climbing on all fours.
Just as she bent down, an elderly man with gray hair walked past her with brisk steps. "Little girl, it's about to pour rain. Don't go climbing the mountain anymore."
"Huh?" Qu Yun frowned, not understanding. She could only smile politely.
When Qu Yun finally climbed halfway up the mountain, the sky around her suddenly darkened.
The sunlight was suppressed by layers of thick, dark clouds, and the mountains and forests were so stuffy that not a breath of wind could be heard; the air was damp and sticky.
Qu Yun tapped her aching knees, already impatient, and just wanted to find the calligrapher's residence as soon as possible.
She took out her phone to check the navigation to confirm the route, but the location on the screen kept spinning in place, and the signal was intermittent.
Finally, the navigation system completely stopped working and couldn't find any routes.
"Is this Gaode Map or something else?" Qu Yun shook her phone in disbelief, unable to believe that the navigation had abandoned her at a crossroads in a forest surrounded by identical landscapes.
Fine, God, if you're so capable, make her suffer even more!
Just as Qu Yun finished thinking this, a moment later, large raindrops formed white lines and poured down from the sky, instantly enveloping the entire mountain forest in a rain curtain.
The wind, carrying cold rain, lashed down on Qu Yun, soaking her clothes so they clung to her skin, leaving her looking utterly disheveled.
Qu Yun had little experience climbing mountains, and in a panic, she took a few steps back, causing rocks to roll down the cliff at her feet.
She could easily slip and fall if she wasn't careful.
Fortunately, a few other hikers came up, and she also went into the pavilion to take shelter from the rain.
The rain intensified, and the rumble of thunder echoed through the clouds, sending shivers down people's spines.
The others all spoke Cantonese, forming a lively, chattering group.
Qu Yun sat in the corner, wrung out the rainwater from her clothes, looking somewhat lost and helpless.
After Lu Junhe arrived, he received a message from Zhao Yao.
Zhao Yao thought he had brought Qu Yun to Hong Kong as well, and asked why Qu Yun had posted a photo of Victoria Harbour on her WeChat Moments.
Lu Junhe's face darkened; he didn't know.
He had already been blocked and deleted by Qu Yun.
"Then I'll ask my wife. They've been getting along pretty well since the wedding. Let's see if she knows what Xiaoyunyun is doing in Hong Kong." Zhao Yao's tone was quite boastful.
He picked up a cushion from the sofa, covered his face, and cautiously approached the shrew in the house.
The windshield wipers were scraping the glass rapidly.
Lu Junhe gripped the steering wheel with one hand and sped along the road.
Zhao Yao switched from texting to calling: "Qu Yun seems to have gone up the mountain; we can't get through to her on the phone."
"See if you can contact the rescue team."
As soon as he finished speaking, Lu Junhe's eyes darkened. Without the slightest hesitation, he abruptly turned the steering wheel, crossed the yellow line, and turned the car around.
A chorus of car horns sounded from behind.
Zhao Yao's eyelids twitched. "You don't mean to think about going up the mountain, do you?"
"The torrential rain washed away the mountain road, and several sections of the road are now blocked, making it very dangerous."
Qu Yun felt aches all over her body. Leaning against the pavilion pillar, her eyelids drooped heavily.
She always felt that several subtle gazes were fixed on her, making her very uncomfortable.
Qu Yun pinched herself to clear her mind. After calmly composed herself, she grabbed the backpack next to her and gently hugged it to her chest to cover her chest.
Just then, among the men at the other end of the pavilion, a dark-skinned man with fierce eyes suddenly stood up.
The other person stared intently at her and strode toward where she was sitting.
The surrounding air instantly became quiet, with only the howling wind in the mountains remaining.
Qu Yun swallowed hard, her back stiffening.
The strange man approached step by step.
Just at this suffocating moment, two blinding beams of headlights suddenly broke through the heavy rain on the distant mountain road, shining directly into the pavilion.
The roar of a car engine grew louder as it approached.
Lu Junhe slammed the car door shut, his deep voice piercing the silence: "Qu Yun!"
Why is he here?
The stranger stopped in his tracks, looking annoyed, when he saw someone approaching.
Qu Yun raised her eyes and looked at Lu Junhe, who was standing against the light, feeling a little awkward.
Are you planning to mess with her again?
Lu Junhe told her to get in the car, and Qu Yun pursed her lips.
She retorted, "Hasn't Mr. Lu gotten tired of this yet? What new hero-saves-the-damsel-in-distress charade is it this time?"
Lu Junhe was taken aback as he watched Qu Yun, carrying her backpack, walk past him and out of the pavilion, seemingly intending to descend the mountain in the downpour.
If he doesn't catch up now, it will be too late.
"Here, take the car." Lu Junhe said to the man in front of him, then picked up his umbrella and rushed into the rain.
The man glanced at the car parked in the downpour, its door still open.
A Range Rover costs millions just to buy an umbrella?
Qu Yun kept her head down, focusing intently on walking forward, the mountain path beneath her feet slippery and muddy.
Suddenly, she slipped and stumbled down the steep slope to the side.
Lu Junhe reached out in time and grabbed her wrist, his strength steady yet urgent.
He pulled Qu Yun back to his side, the umbrella mostly covering her head. "What are you doing? Don't you know it's dangerous!"
He realized that his tone might have been too harsh.
Lu Junhe forced back his anger. "Don't you even think about the children at home waiting for you to come back?"
In short, it struck a chord with Qu Yun.
Qu Yun stubbornly raised her eyes, intending to say something, but when she saw that Lu Junhe was holding the umbrella almost entirely over her head while his own clothes were soaked, she realized that...
She got even angrier: "Can you please open the umbrella properly?"
Lu Junhe called another car to come up the mountain to pick him up.
The car was heated, and Qu Yun and the man sat on opposite sides.
Her wet hair clung to the car window.
Lu Junhe glanced at Qu Yun a few times, then hesitated to speak.
I don't know why she's so distant.
Qu Yun wanted to close her eyes for a while.
A thought suddenly occurred to her: the top private equity firm she was investigating was the Lu family, based in Hong Kong, with an unfathomable background.
Besides Lu Junhe's family, which other family has such scale and resources?
Or rather, how many Lu families are there in this world?
The melody was instantly enlightening.
She turned to look at the man beside her, suspecting that the person behind the operation was someone connected to Lu Junhe.
It seems she can't avoid this man anymore.
Why not make use of it?
Anyway, he took advantage of her quite a bit.
Lu Junhe noticed Qu Yun's gaze, and his eyes darkened.
He said in a low voice, "Take her to the hotel first."
The next second, his hand, which was resting on the seat, was suddenly touched by Qu Yun.
Her little finger touched his.
Lu Junhe paused for a moment, then looked up and saw Qu Yun's innocent gaze.
He subtly tightened his grip on her fingers, realizing that Qu Yun hadn't dodged.
Lu Junhe chuckled inwardly and said in a hoarse voice, "Turn around, she's coming back to the old house with me."
