Kyoto Night Kiss

Chapter 96 The Person I Like

The two men stood silently a few steps apart, their eyes meeting.

Neither of them made any unnecessary moves; they were silently vying with each other.

Lu Junhe's eyes were as deep and cold as a pool.

He recognized the person in front of him as Cheng Tongzhou.

The passenger door suddenly popped open, and a small figure emerged first, revealing a round head.

Cheng Chongchong nimbly jumped out of the car, his short legs moving lightly. When he saw Lu Junhe, his eyes lit up: "Uncle Lu, what are you doing here!"

Cheng Tongzhou frowned slightly, looked at his son, and asked, "Do you know him?"

"Of course! Uncle Lu is my deskmate's dad. He's taken me out for pizza!"

Cheng Tongzhou didn't say much, but bent down and said to his son, "Go find your mother first."

As soon as Cheng Chongchong entered the house, he walked a few steps up to Lu Junhe, his gaze fixed on him: "What are you doing here?"

Lu Junhe frowned, clearly annoyed by the man's assertive tone. He retorted sharply, "That's what I should be asking you."

The two were so close that even the air seemed to tense up.

Cheng Tongzhou looked away first and said in a low voice, "I came to pick up Yunyun."

She said it would be a few days later.

More painful than the affectionate address was that Qu Yun had asked this man to pick her up.

Where should we place him?

So she really did arrange everything well in advance.

She dragged him along until she had enough, then she left first.

And she was walking with other men.

A sinister look crept into Lu Junhe's eyes, his Adam's apple bobbing. "You guys had already made contact?"

Cheng Tongzhou wasn't lying. "We've been in contact since the day I returned to China."

"I see."

Lu Junhe said no more, turned around, opened the car door, and got in.

With a low hum, the four tires rolled over the road, kicking up clouds of dust, and in the blink of an eye, the car disappeared without a trace.

As soon as Qu Yun came downstairs, she thought she was seeing things.

How did she see Cheng Chongchong?

After rubbing her eyes vigorously, before she could react, the little dumpling pounced on her and hugged her legs tightly.

He called out in a childish voice, "Qu Yun, I miss you so much."

Qu Yun ruffled Cheng Chongchong's hair and walked outside. Lu Junhe was not there.

The car he drove here... is gone too.

So, he doesn't trust her at all?

He misunderstood her without her consent and then left.

Cheng Tongzhou opened the trunk of his car; he had brought many precious and rare tonics from abroad.

I carried the lightest one for Qu Yun.

He picked up the rest and carried them into his hands.

Rather than asking why the man in front of her had suddenly come to visit, Qu Yun asked first, "Did you run into...him?"

Did he say anything?

Cheng Tongzhou shook his head, not particularly concerned.

He asked with a smile, "Where is your mother? I'll take Chongchong to visit her."

Qu's mother remained inside, sitting on a bamboo chair with her eyes closed, taking a short rest.

Qu Yun watched her retreating figure and softly called out, "Mom, we have guests."

Mrs. Qu suddenly opened her eyes, her expression no longer as calm as this morning. She stood up, supporting herself on the chair, and demanded in a muffled, impatient voice, "Who are you people? What are you doing in my house?"

"Get out of here! Get out of here now!"

Qu Yun was taken aback. "Mom, you're not joking..."

"Don't you even recognize me?"

Qu's mother wouldn't listen to a word of advice. She only felt that the person in front of her might steal things from her house. With hostility in her heart, she picked up the mop behind the door and was about to chase the person away.

Just as Qu Yun was about to step forward, Cheng Tongzhou stopped her, saying, "Don't be in such a hurry. This is a typical rejection behavior that occurs when an aunt has an Alzheimer's attack."

He explained, "In her subconscious, we are now strangers. Forcing contact will only trigger her deep-seated unease."

"Moreover, she is currently too emotionally agitated, and her heart rate and blood pressure will also rise accordingly."

Qu Yun covered her face with her hands and squatted down helplessly.

Why did all the misfortunes have to befall her at the same time?

—What exactly did she greedily seek this time?

Before coming, Cheng Tongzhou specifically contacted a renowned professor abroad and conducted a lot of research on this disease.

While a full recovery is not always possible, there are ways to intervene and slow the progression of the disease.

He asked Cheng Chongchong to accompany Qu Yun while he went to give Aunt Qiu Hong detailed instructions.

As evening approached, Qu Yun suggested that she should go back.

Cheng Chongchong subconsciously touched his butt, which was almost worn out from sitting all day. Although it was a little painful, it was all worth it to see Qu Yun!

However, looking at Qu Yun, who was sitting in the passenger seat with her brows furrowed, he couldn't help but ask, "Pretty Mommy, why do you look so unhappy?"

Qu Yun's body stiffened for a moment.

She didn't want her bad mood to affect a lively child.

Just as he was thinking about how to explain, Cheng Tongzhou spoke up, "Because I told your mother that you only got 31 points on your math test yesterday."

Cheng Chongchong immediately lowered her chubby little face.

He's starting to hate going to this school.

The math teacher, in particular, made him stand for the entire class just because he felt thirsty and took a sip of water during class.

They used to be allowed to walk around in the classroom during regular school days!

Qu Yun noticed that the chubby boy was in a bad mood. She glanced at Cheng Tongzhou and comforted him, "Everyone has their strengths."

"Although Chongchong is a bit behind in math, his use of idioms has improved by leaps and bounds!"

Cheng Chongchong sat in the back and nodded frantically.

Upon seeing this, Cheng Tongzhou laughed.

The journey was long, and after watching two episodes of cartoons, Cheng Chongchong rested her head on the seatbelt and fell asleep.

The car was silent. Cheng Tongzhou said in a low voice, "If you want to bring Auntie to live with you, you can tell me anytime."

"I will make the most thorough preparations."

Qu Yun politely said "thank you".

Even if she was willing, her mother was not.

And right now, she's thinking more about Lu Junhe.

Where did he go?

Cheng Tongzhou was a little tired after driving all day.

He turned towards the nearest service area, intending to get off and buy a cup of coffee.

Qu Yun felt very guilty and whispered, "Don't do this again next time."

"I can come back by myself."

In the past few days, Cheng Tongzhou had mentioned that he would drive to pick her up.

But she rejected them all.

Cheng Tongzhou smiled and said gently, "No more trouble."

"Visiting someone you like will never feel like a hassle."

In the back row, Cheng Chongchong gently smacked her lips twice in her sleep.

Qu Yun's hands, hanging at her sides, unconsciously clenched. She didn't dare to look into the man's earnest and sincere eyes. After a few seconds of silence, she said with a heavy tone, "I'm sorry."

"Dr. Cheng, there are some things I want to make clear to you."
