A leisurely life starting in a bar after being reborn
Chapter 58 What's at Home
I attended several concerts in a row.
When Zhao Gang went to see it a second time, he understood some of it, but he sat upright next to Fu Yan the whole time, like a door god.
"Zhao Gang, could you please not sit like that?"
"How should I sit?"
"Relax! Don't act like a bodyguard; everyone around you is watching you."
"I'm both the bodyguard and the driver."
Fu Yan gave up.
In the evening, he would either go to a bar to chat with Qiu Kai and listen to some late-night singing; or he would go home to be with Xu Wenshu, and the two of them would snuggle on the sofa to watch TV. Xu Wenshu would watch her dramas while Fu Yan scrolled through his phone next to her—occasionally glancing up at the screen and commenting, "This guy's acting is so fake," or "Who wrote this line? It's so awful," before Xu Wenshu would slap him back.
Later, Fu Yan discovered a new place to go.
Next to Guichu Bar, separated by three storefronts, there's a nightclub called "Mei". Two security guards in black shirts always stand at the entrance. Inside, the lighting is dim, the DJ booth blasts loud music, and the dance floor is packed with men and women.
Fu Yan's first visit was just a passing by. He glanced at the entrance and was so overwhelmed by the loud bass from inside that his chest felt tight. He was about to leave when a girl in a short skirt came out for some fresh air. Seeing him, she smiled and said, "Hey bro, why don't you come in and sit down?"
Fu Yan followed him inside as if possessed.
Once inside, he found a corner booth, ordered a whiskey, and sat there watching people dance.
It must be said, the young women were truly beautiful when they danced. The lights were a riot of colors, their curves were subtly revealed, and they swayed to the rhythm of the music—Fu Yan, holding his wine glass, thought to himself that this was more exciting than listening to Mozart.
He went a few more times after that, each time sitting at the corner table, ordering a drink, watching for half an hour, and then leaving. Zhao Gang wouldn't go in with him; he would just wait at the door—Zhao Gang felt extremely uncomfortable in that place.
Fu Yan knew in his heart that he wasn't there for any particular reason; he simply enjoyed the lively atmosphere. Sometimes, when people are idle for too long, they need a little noise.
One time, after singing at a bar in the early hours of the morning, I saw Fu Yan coming back from next door with a faint smile on his lips, and I couldn't help but take a second look.
Fu Yan noticed her gaze, sat down, and asked, "What's wrong?"
"It's nothing." Ling Chen lowered his head to tidy up the sheet music. "Brother Fu, is that place next door fun?"
"Not bad." Fu Yan picked up the drink Qiu Kai handed him. "Hmm~ Watching the young lady dance is really cool."
He said "Oh" in the early morning and didn't ask any more questions.
Qiu Kai was wiping glasses behind the bar, not even lifting his eyelids.
This boss is great in every way, except that sometimes he's too honest.
……
Just as Fu Yan was still enjoying the sight of the young lady, he was somehow "fired" by someone and his life took a turn for the worse on an ordinary night.
That day, after leaving the "Charm" bar, he sat in his own bar for a while as usual, listened to two songs performed in the early morning, and then strolled back to the courtyard house. Everything was normal when he entered. Sister Zhou was already asleep, the lights in the main living room were on, and Xu Wenshu was sitting on the sofa watching TV with her feet on the coffee table and a cup of yogurt in her hand.
"You're back?" She didn't even turn her head.
"Mm." Fu Yan changed his shoes and walked over, sat down next to her, and casually took an apple from her table and took a bite.
"How's business at the bar tonight?"
"It's alright, always the same. But the song you sang early this morning was pretty good. 'Woman Flower'..."
"Oh." Xu Wenshu changed the channel. "Is our own bar doing well, or is the bar next door doing better?"
Fu Yan paused in his bite of the apple, almost choking on his saliva.
He slowly turned his head to look at Xu Wenshu and found that she was still staring at the TV, with a slight smile on her lips, but it wasn't a happy smile; it was the smile of a hunter waiting for a rabbit next to a trap.
"What, the bar next door?" Just as Fu Yan was about to make a futile struggle, seeing Xu Wenshu's expression change slightly, he simply admitted, "How did you know?"
"That's what Qiu Kai said."
Fu Yan cursed Qiu Kai a hundred times in his heart and decided to deduct two months' salary from him as a warning to others.
"I only went there a few times, just to sit for a while."
"Okay, have a seat." Xu Wenshu turned off the TV, stood up, and said, "Come to the study, I need to talk to you about something."
Fu Yan followed him into the study. The study was small, with a desk and two bookshelves. Xu Wenshu sat down in the chair, crossed his hands on the desk, and looked like he was interrogating a criminal.
"Is the girl's dancing pretty?"
If Fu Yan could travel back two seconds, he would definitely slap himself. But he didn't; he chose to tell the truth.
"nice."
The room was quiet for about three seconds.
Xu Wenshu stared at him for a while, her expression unchanged, and simply nodded: "Okay, wait a moment."
After saying that, he got up and left the study.
Fu Yan sat there, a little dazed, but also vaguely feeling that he might have stepped on a landmine. He thought about it and felt that his answer just now should be fine—good-looking is good-looking, why lie about that?
About five or six minutes later, the study door opened again.
Xu Wenshu walked in from outside.
When Fu Yan looked up, his eyes nearly popped out.
She changed her clothes—a tight black miniskirt that reached just above her thighs; topped with a cropped tank top, the waist area a stark white, like it was coated with cream. Her hair was down, no longer tied up neatly, but casually draped over her shoulders, with a slight curl.
She wore a pair of sky-high stilettos, which made her long legs look even more stunning.
"Don't you love watching pretty girls dance?" Xu Wenshu leaned against the doorframe, raising an eyebrow. "I'll dance for you."
She turned on the bedroom stereo, and a very rhythmic song started playing—Fu Yan recognized it; it was the kind that was often played in "Charm".
Then Xu Wenshu started dancing.
Fu Yan had seen plenty of women dancing in his life—New York nightclubs, Manhattan parties, Las Vegas shows—what hadn't he seen? But when Xu Wenshu started dancing, he was still stunned.
She was tall, just over 1.7 meters, with excellent proportions—long legs, a slim waist, and smooth shoulders. More importantly, she had a background in dance, having trained her physique from elementary school to university. Her body control and sense of rhythm were far superior to those of the girls in the "Charm" bar. The girls in the bar danced for excitement and carnal desire, while Xu Wenshu danced for flavor and ultimate seduction.
Every turn, every hip swing, every movement of her waist was perfectly timed—not a fraction more, not a fraction less. Her waistline, accentuated by her crop top, rose and fell with the rhythm, her legs sometimes together, sometimes apart, and under the light, she appeared as a flowing line.
Fu Yan sat motionless in the chair, his palms sweaty.
The piece lasted about three or four minutes. When she finished, Xu Wenshu stood there, slightly out of breath, with fine beads of sweat on her forehead. Under the lights, her face was slightly flushed, and her eyes held a hint of defiance.
She slowly walked over, stood in front of Fu Yan, and bent down slightly.
"Did I dance well?"
Fu Yan swallowed hard: "Beautiful!"
"Am I prettier, or prettier than the bar girls?"
"You are the most beautiful; they are not worthy to be compared to you."
Xu Wenshu straightened up and nodded with satisfaction: "So, will you still go to bars to watch the girls dance in the future?"
"I'm not going."
"Good boy." Xu Wenshu reached out and patted his head. "We have everything at home, so we don't need to go outside to see it."
"Okay!" Fu Yan nodded obediently.
