A leisurely life starting in a bar after being reborn
Chapter 60 Car Delivery
It's been about ten days since I watched the girl dance.
Has Xu Wenshu's anger subsided? Probably most of it. At least for the past few nights, Fu Yan no longer has to sleep in the west wing, but that's all they've done—share a bed. Any other thoughts—no, a single glance is enough to shut them up.
Fu Yan figured that all that was needed was a spark to melt her heart.
Just as I was thinking this, the fire broke out.
Around 10 a.m. that day, Fu Yan was curled up on the sofa flipping through a book about whisky when his phone rang. It was the number of the Ferrari Yanjing general agent; he had left his contact information with them before.
"Hello Mr. Fu, the 599 GTB you shipped has arrived at the store. All the registration and paperwork are complete. When would be a convenient time for you to pick it up?"
Fu Yan glanced in the direction of the bedroom—the door was closed, and there was no movement.
"Today. I'll be there in a bit."
After hanging up the phone, Fu Yan put down her book, stood up, and walked towards her bedroom.
Pushing open the door, Fu Yan saw a huddled figure on the bed, Xu Wenshu curled up in a ball, wrapped in a blanket, only half her face and a tuft of hair showing, fast asleep. It was her day off, and she was still sleeping at this hour—or, in her own words, not sleeping in, but taking her beauty sleep. Fu Yan had no idea when the Duke of Zhou (a figure in Chinese mythology associated with sleep) had learned this skill, able to give someone a beauty treatment in their sleep.
Fu Yan walked to the bedside, reached out and grabbed the corner of the blanket, then pulled it off.
The blanket flew away.
Xu Wenshu shivered, groggily turned over, reached for the blanket but couldn't reach it, and curled up into a ball again. She mumbled something indistinctly, something like "cold" or "get lost"—Fu Yan didn't hear her clearly and didn't care.
"Get up, the sun's already high in the sky!"
"Ugh... Go away!"
"Get up, I have a surprise for you."
"I don't want a surprise! I want a blanket."
Fu Yan bent down and scooped Xu Wenshu up from the bed. Xu Wenshu was still dazed as he carried her on his shoulder, her eyes half-closed, her head drooping, and her hair a mess.
Then she woke up completely.
It wasn't because of a pleasant surprise, but because of morning grumpiness.
"Fu Yan! What are you doing! You're so annoying!"
She slid off Fu Yan's shoulder, didn't land, and jumped directly onto his back, wrapping her long legs around his waist and holding his head with both hands—and then bit him.
First, the ears.
"Aww~~"
Then comes the neck.
"Xu Wenshu, shut up! Hey~ are you a dog or something?!"
Finally, the shoulders.
Fu Yan grimaced as he was bitten, spinning around in place several times, but he couldn't manage to pull the person off. Xu Wenshu rode on his back, biting him again and again, leaving neat, clean teeth marks like stamps, all the way from his ear to his shoulder.
This isn't just morning grumpiness; it's like vomiting up all the unfinished stuff from before.
Hearing the noise in the kitchen, Sister Zhou peeked out halfway before retreating back inside. She'd seen this kind of thing many times before; young people, after all, were just fooling around.
Fu Yan was bitten for about two minutes before Xu Wenshu finally let go. She lay on his back, panting, her chin resting on his shoulder, her warm breath hitting his neck—on the row of teeth marks.
"Is it done?" Fu Yan asked.
"Okay," Xu Wenshu said in a muffled voice, "my teeth hurt."
Fu Yan put her down from his back. Xu Wenshu stood barefoot on the floor, wearing a cotton nightgown, her hair disheveled, and her face still bearing pillow marks. But her eyes lit up; her morning grumpiness was over, and now it was time for curiosity.
"What surprise did you just mention?"
"Wash up first, we'll talk after we eat."
"cut!"
……
Breakfast consisted of hot porridge and fried eggs that Sister Zhou had left for them. The two sat at the table and ate in silence. Xu Wenshu kept trying to urge him on with her eyes while he ate, but Fu Yan pretended not to notice. He slowly finished the last mouthful of porridge, put down his bowl, and then said:
"Let's go, change our clothes, and head out."
"Where to?"
You'll know when you get there.
Xu Wenshu gave him a suspicious look, but still went to change her clothes. Ten minutes later, she came out wearing a light blue knit sweater and jeans, with her hair casually tied in a ponytail—Fu Yan always admired her quickness in getting out of bed.
Zhao Gang had already driven his A8 to the door and was waiting. After Fu Yan got in the car, he gave Zhao Gang an address, Zhao Gang nodded, and he stepped on the gas and drove off.
After driving for about forty minutes, we turned into an area with many 4S dealerships and finally stopped in front of a Ferrari flagship store. The storefront was huge, with a dark gray glass curtain wall and a massive Ferrari horse emblem hanging on it, gleaming in the sunlight.
Xu Wenshu got out of the car, glanced up at the logo, and turned to ask, "You brought me to look at cars? Are you planning to buy one?"
"Okay, let's go."
Pushing open the glass door, the showroom was quiet and peaceful. The air conditioning was at a perfect temperature, and the floor was covered with glossy dark stone, polished to the point of reflecting light. A row of cars lined the wall—red, yellow, and white—but all of them paled in comparison to the one in the center.
A red Ferrari 599 GTB was parked imposingly on the turntable in the middle of the showroom.
The car's color isn't your average red; it's Ferrari's signature Rosso Corsa, track red. The paint looks like liquid gemstones under the lights. The curves flow seamlessly from front to back, with two raised lines on the hood resembling taut muscles. The rear is rounded and full, and the four exhaust pipes gleam with a cold light.
Xu Wenshu's eyes widened immediately.
Women's appreciation for sports cars differs from men's. Men look at specs, horsepower, and 0-100 km/h acceleration; women look at lines, colors, and overall aesthetics. And this car—it truly is beautiful.
"This car is really beautiful..." Xu Wenshu walked around the car, bent down to look at the rims, and then reached out to touch the hood, her fingertips sliding along the raised line. "It feels like silk."
The sales manager, a man in his early thirties, dressed in a suit and tie, greeted us with a professional smile: "Hello Mr. Fu, this is your 599 GTB. The license plate is already in place, Beijing A·FY1207, and all the paperwork is complete."
Xu Wenshu's hand stopped on the hood, and she slowly turned her head.
"You bought it?"
"No, it was a gift from a friend."
"What friend gave you a Ferrari?"
"Zhang Fan, I mentioned him to you last time, he's my senior from Stanford."
Xu Wenshu glanced at Fu Yan, then at the car, opened her mouth as if to say something, but in the end, she only uttered one word: "Oh."
Her "oh" was completely different from the "oh" she made when she heard about buying a bag for Lin Xiaochen last time—last time it was a sinking tone, this time it was a soaring tone.
"Can I drive it away?" Xu Wenshu asked the sales manager.
"Of course, here's your car, you can drive it away now." The manager smiled and handed over the keys. "Would you like to take it for a spin first?"
Xu Wenshu snatched the keys—not Fu Yan's, of course, but the one with the character for "car".
"Walk!"
Fu Yanchong nodded to Zhao Gang: "You take care of the formalities, then drive the A8 back later. Wen Shu and I will go for a drive and go home ourselves."
Zhao Gang responded, and Fu Yan took the keys and went around to the driver's seat.
The driver's seat in the Ferrari 599 was lower than he had imagined; once inside, his field of vision felt almost touching the ground, and the prancing horse emblem on the steering wheel was directly in front of his chest. He adjusted the seat and mirrors, then stepped on the gas—the V12 engine roared behind him with a muffled roar, and the entire car trembled slightly, like a wild beast being awakened.
Xu Wenshu, sitting in the passenger seat, leaned forward excitedly, gripping the dashboard with both hands: "Let's go! Let's go! Let's go! Let's go!"
Fu Yan shifted gears, released the clutch, and the car slid out of the showroom entrance.
