The entertainment empire began with Liu Yifei's premarital pregnancy.

"If I hadn't seen it with my own eyes, I wouldn't have believed that Director Lin is so young."

Han Sanping looked at Lin Bufan's young and handsome face and sighed.

"Chairman Han, you can just call me Wofan."

Lin Bufan quickly said modestly.

Han Sanping is not Chen Jinfei, and Lin Bufan is not a hothead. There is no conflict of interest between them, so he naturally would not act arrogantly.

While it's true that a young person isn't considered young if they're not impetuous, it depends on who they're dealing with.

The man before you is Han Sanping, the future head of China Film Group, who is known as the "Mountain Eagle".

Han Sanping gave Lin Bufan an appreciative look.

It's remarkable that someone so young can achieve such outstanding results and still remain humble.

Following that, Han Sanping asked some simple questions about the movie, and Lin Bufan told him what he could say.

"If you have any film projects in the future, you can come to China Film Group to find me anytime."

Finally, Han Sanping looked at Lin Bufan and spoke.

"Mr. Han, there is indeed a movie that I need your help with."

Lin Bufan then briefly told Han Sanping about the movie "Love is Not Blind".

"No problem, China Film Group can help you with the distribution of this movie."

Upon hearing this, Han Sanping nodded in agreement without the slightest hesitation.

"As for the distribution fee, I'll take 10%, is that alright?"

Normally, according to China Film Group's rules, the distribution fee for a film is between 10% and 20%. Han Sanping only charged Lin Bufan 10%, which was already the lowest price.

"Spending a fortune to buy a horse's bones" is nothing more than this.

"Thank you, Chairman Han!"

Lin Bufan's eyes lit up, and he thanked him.

Back then, the domestic box office revenue sharing model required deducting 5% for the film development fund and 3.3% for value-added tax, leaving 91.7% as net box office revenue that could be distributed.

Currently, the production company receives 41% of the net box office revenue that can be distributed.

Taking a box office of 1 million as an example, first, 500 million of the film development special fund and 330 million of value-added tax will be deducted.

Of the remaining 9170 million, the production company can get 41%, which is 3760 million in box office revenue.

After deducting 10% for issuance expenses, the final amount received was 3384 million.

In other words, a film needs to gross three times its production cost to break even.

"If there are any good projects next time, don't forget China Film Group."

Han Sanping looked at Lin Bufan, his smile serious.

This is Han Sanping's real purpose in treating Lin Bufan well.

Whether a film makes money or wins awards, it's a political achievement for Han Sanping.

"Of course, please rest assured, Chairman Han."

Lin Bufan nodded seriously in response.

If you want to succeed in the entertainment industry, remember one thing: never try to do everything yourself. Doing so will lead to your demise.

Rather than looking for someone to collaborate with, the best partner would be China Film Group.

……

"Lin Bufan, congratulations on your Golden Globe nomination."

Just as Lin Bufan stepped out of the China Film Studio, he received a call from Yang Mi.

Yang Mi sounded very excited on the phone.

"You found out too?"

Lin Bufan was somewhat surprised.

"How novel is it? Not just me, the entire Beijing Film Academy knows about it now."

Lin Bufan is a student in the directing department of Beijing Film Academy. Now his film has been nominated for the Golden Globe Awards. The news spread from his teacher to his students in less than an hour.

"Brother Bufan..."

Just as Lin Bufan was deep in thought, Yang Mi's affectedly sweet and childlike voice came through the phone.

"Stop! What are you up to now?"

Lin Bufan instantly became alert.

From childhood to adulthood, whenever Yang Mi needed something from him, she would call him "Brother Bufan," but otherwise she would call him "scumbag" or "dog man."

"People have heard that the Golden Globes are a precursor to the Oscars, is that true?"

"That's a saying."

Lin Bufan nodded.

"So that means if you win a Golden Globe, you'll be nominated for an Oscar, right?"

Lin Bufan could sense that Yang Mi's voice was trembling slightly.

Even in later generations, if an actor were to be nominated for or even win one of the three major European awards or even the Oscars, it would be a very sensational event.

Moreover, this was in 05, when the entertainment industry was absolutely obsessed with the Oscars.

"It's possible, but not impossible."

Lin Bufan didn't give a definitive answer. Even though he was absolutely certain, until the nomination date, no one knew what unexpected things might happen.

"Brother Bufan, if you get nominated for an Oscar, could you take me with you on the red carpet?"

After Yang Mi finished speaking, she felt her heart beating very fast.

For any actor, no one doesn't want to win an award, especially Yang Mi at this time.

Even if the movie has nothing to do with her, walking the red carpet can increase her exposure, and in front of the whole world.

"Well..."

Lin Bufan had never really thought about having a female companion on the red carpet.

"Brother Bufan, please?"

Yang Mi's sweet, childlike voice reached Lin Bufan's ears once again.

After finishing her message, Yang Mi didn't hear a reply from Lin Bufan. She glanced around and realized she was all alone in the dormitory. So she gritted her teeth and made a decision.

"dad……"

"Okay, you're the one."

Lin Bufan made a decision instantly.

"yeah!"

Upon hearing Lin Bufan's agreement, Yang Mi instantly became excited.

Few Chinese actresses have ever walked the red carpet at the Academy Awards. Chen Chong walked the red carpet in 87 for "The Last Emperor," and Zhang Ziyi and Yang Ziqiong walked the red carpet in 01 for "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon," which was nominated for Best Foreign Language Film.

Compared to them, Yang Mi may not have any works, but being able to walk the Oscar red carpet is the greatest success for her.

"Thank you, Dad..."

Yang Mi said thank you, but after hanging up the phone, she cursed inwardly: What a jerk!

……

Since Lin Bufan's film "Manchester by the Sea" was nominated for a Golden Globe Award, various entertainment companies have been contacting Lin Bufan.

To avoid trouble, Lin Bufan simply changed his phone number, and handed over the original phone number to Bai Bing as his work number.

"Finally, I can finally relax!"

December 30th has arrived, and tomorrow is the release date of "Love is Not Blind".

During this period, under Lin Bufan's instructions, the entire publicity department of Kyoto Entertainment focused on promoting the topic of "new Hollywood director".

The publicity was a bit exaggerated, but there was no other way. Lin Bufan currently has no box office appeal, so they could only exaggerate the publicity to grab attention.

At least when the movie is released, the box office results will be better.

We'll see how the movie fares after it's released.
