They just choose whichever scene looks better or is more impressive, without any regard for reason.

What's most criticized is that this movie has absolutely no detective work or reasoning involved.

The counterfeit money case started with a serious investigation into the counterfeit money molds, but after finding them, they were told they were fake. Following the trail a couple more steps, they discovered that the mastermind was Lord An.

There was no chain of reasoning involved; it was all done by ruthlessly reading minds.

The second part goes even further, creating suspense by accusing Zhuge Zhengwo of being a murderer, only to reveal later that someone was working overtime in disguise.

The most outrageous thing is that the Four Great Constables, those are the Four Great Constables... They are known as the pinnacle of intelligence. They may not be gods in the detective world, but they should at least have their own judgment. Yet they so easily believed that Zhuge Zhengwo was the murderer.

Without investigation or questioning, they turned against each other directly, all for the sake of advancing the plot.

Ironically, Zhuge Zhengwo maintained a completely silent attitude throughout, refusing to say a word or offer any explanation.

The truth behind the ruthless massacre, revealing that the ruthless father was ordered by the emperor, and that Zhuge Zhengwo and Tieshou were ordered to exterminate the family, is entirely a figment of imagination.

Could an emperor possibly order his subordinates to secretly massacre the entire family of a minister?

It's simply unbelievable. Moreover, Zhuge Zhengwo claims to be a righteous person, yet he did this without any investigation whatsoever.

Furthermore, the Divine Marquis's Mansion and the Six Doors were changed into two opposing gangs in the movie, which perfectly reflects the Hong Kong directors who, when in doubt, resort to "gangsters to seize territory," completely unaware of what it means to be part of the system.

And then there's the main villain, An Shigeng, who wielded immense power and possessed superpowers, yet his methods of plotting always remained confined to his own mansion, involving assassinations and petty schemes. In the end, he was killed by a hairpin.

The ending was too childish; this was supposed to be a final boss.

Furthermore, the movie transitions rely entirely on abrupt black screen cuts. When a scene doesn't make sense, a black screen transition jumps to the next scene, which is tantamount to admitting that we ourselves can't make that scene coherent either.

There's also the character Ji Yaohua's identity: from an undercover agent in Japan to an undercover agent in the Six Doors, then to a love triangle with Wuqing and Lengxue, and a one-minute kissing scene with the vegetative An Shigeng.

Which side does she belong to, and what is her purpose?

To put it bluntly, the logical flaws in this series aren't just a problem with one or two scenes. In fact, at the core of the narrative, there's practically no logic to it; it relies entirely on the actors' good looks and special effects to keep things going.

To put it another way, if you watch it like a "classic" movie, you'll have a heart attack almost every three minutes.

However, if you treat it as a nonsensical comedy, you can at least have a mindless laugh.

Since Lin Bufan redeemed the script, the scriptwriting department has re-examined its logic and plot, and added detective elements.

If the script hadn't improved so much, Shen Ao wouldn't have been able to choose this film at first glance.
