From American comics to becoming the mastermind behind the scenes

Coulson asked, puzzled, "Why does the Renwo organization need to capture mutants?"

Matt shook his head. Since the "Dark Phoenix" event, mutants have become extremely rare.

After pondering for a moment, Yan Shuangying said, "It's most likely for the X gene of mutants."

"The X gene?"

"That's right. The reason mutants have more superpowers than ordinary people is because they have an extra X gene in their genetic code. Ren Woxing's demonic art, the 'Star Absorbing Technique,' can steal the life force of all living beings. If we could steal the X gene from mutants..."

His power will then increase dramatically in a short period of time.

"What?" Coulson, being an eighth-level agent, immediately realized the seriousness of the problem.

With his superhuman skills and abilities, Ren Woxing is likely to turn New York upside down.

Matt asked疑惑地问道, "Is there some hidden reason why he's so busy improving his skills?"

If they were worried about being arrested by the S.H.I.E.L.D., why would they need to make such a big fuss?

"Sixteen days ago, the blessed land protected by the Divine Spear Bureau—which you in the West often call the spacetime rift—suddenly experienced violent fluctuations."

According to our intelligence, two unknown entities traversed the river of time, sweeping across countless ages, causing the seal within the blessed land to loosen. Ren Woxing escaped from the West Lake dungeon at that time; he may have seen something, which explains his panic.

Upon hearing this, Matt frowned slightly. He was a student of Stickman.

Having some understanding of Eastern culture, he asked, "Thirty-six grotto-heavens, seventy-two blessed lands?"

"That's right, we don't know exactly how many people escaped, or how many made it to the present world."

Coulson was filled with mixed feelings. S.H.I.E.L.D.'s top-secret "Project Insight" was nothing more than building a few more space carriers, yet S.H.I.E.L.D. actually had its own spacetime rift.

How can you be so outstanding? And judging from Yan Shuangying's words, there is an extremely powerful being in the blessed land.

So powerful that it can influence time and space with the slightest gesture!

This kind of thing sounds unbelievable and extremely terrifying!

Yan Shuangying sighed, "The tasks are very heavy now, so even clerical staff like me have to go on business trips and do fieldwork."

civilian staff?

Coulson almost rolled his eyes.

On the day Yan Shuangying appeared, he single-handedly fought off Madam Gao and dealt with more than a dozen high-ranking ninja assassins from the Hand.

Such skill is only possessed by a clerical worker in the S.H.I.E.L.D.?

Then what am I!

Are they S.H.I.E.L.D. cleaners?

"Ring ring..."

The vibration of the phone in Coulson's arms interrupted his thoughts.

"Caller - Nick Fury"

"Excuse me, I need to go outside to take this call."

Please make yourself at home.

Coulson stepped out of the room and answered the phone.

"Damn it, there's trouble again!" Nick Fury's familiar black accent made Coulson chuckle.

Hearing "there's trouble again," he frowned and said, "Ren Woxing killed someone again?"

"No, it's much more troublesome than that," Nick Fury said bitterly. "You know Stark Industries held a press conference yesterday to launch a new product, right?"

"That's right, I checked the stock market."

"Actually, yesterday's press conference was hijacked by a mysterious person near the end. He claimed to be 'The Joker' and said he added some kind of 'cursed' black liquid to the champagne, stating that everyone who drank the champagne would die at a rate of one person per day within 24 hours."

Coulson's interest was piqued. He raised an eyebrow and said, "Someone actually managed to breach Tony Stark's firewall? But it sounds more like a prank?"

Nick Fury sighed, "I initially thought it was a prank, until someone just called me to tell me that one of the guests at yesterday's Stark Industries press conference died."

Those invited by Stark Industries to attend the press conference are either extremely wealthy or influential figures, either long-time rich or influential in both the military and political spheres.

The death of even one person can trigger an earthquake in Ameliak.

"But that doesn't prove anything. It's not unusual for one person to die among so many people attending a press conference."

"No, I've sent the file to your S.H.I.E.L.D. email address. Take a look."

"clear."

Internet speeds were average in 2008.

Coulson waited a while for the image to load, and his eyes widened instantly when he saw the person in the photo.

The person in the photo can no longer be called human; it appears he killed himself by scratching himself from his face to his neck, causing massive bleeding.

His face was contorted and grotesque, and his hands remained in a scratching motion.

This was definitely not a normal death!

"What do you need me to do?"

"You stay with Yan Shuangying now and try to find out information about 'Joker' from him, see if they know anything about it."

"Understood."

"Tony Stark probably had some champagne too, so I've arranged for Black Widow to infiltrate. As for you... I've already sent Hawkeye to work with you."

Coulson, Black Widow, Hawkeye...

This time, almost all of the top agents, except for Deputy Director Maria Hill, were dispatched.

"These are turbulent times."

Coulson hung up the phone, thought about his words, and went into the room.

Just as he was about to speak, he saw that Yan Shuangying was also on the phone.

"Caught him? He didn't resist?" Yan Shuangying nodded. "I understand. I'll see you later."

"What happened?" Coulson asked, puzzled.

Yan Shuangying laughed and said, "Do you remember the partner I mentioned to you? He split up with me before to hunt down another fugitive, 'Joker'."

"Joker?" Coulson's spirits lifted. What a coincidence.

"Did you catch him?"

He had just received the mission from Nick Fury, and Yan Shuangying's partner had already captured someone?

But judging from the Joker's attire, he is clearly white, so why would he be associated with S.H.I.E.L.D., and even become a wanted criminal by S.H.I.E.L.D.?

"Good, my partner has caught him, but unfortunately, I'm afraid the Joker has already achieved his goal."

Yan Shuangying sighed, "He was originally a foreign tourist who fell into a blessed land due to spacetime fluctuations. After that, he went mad. Although his personal combat ability is average, he has some very dangerous items."

Our Sniper Bureau was responsible for capturing him because we were worried about the gadgets he was carrying, but it seems he has succeeded.

Coulson was certain that what happened at Stark Industries was not a prank.

Upon hearing this, he immediately asked, "Wasn't the Joker already captured? Isn't there an antidote?"

"Antidote?" Yan Shuangying shook his head. "The curse in his hand is called 'Chu Renmei,' and anyone who drinks it will die."

"Is there really no other way?" Coulson pondered for a moment, and finally said, "The Joker added 'Chu Renmei' to the champagne at the Stark Industries press conference. Those people are either the future of America or the past."

We cannot watch them die.

Yan Shuangying pondered for a moment before speaking, "I can contact the Divine Spear Bureau, but it will take at least a week for reinforcements to arrive."

"A week, at least?" Coulson was already in despair.
