He turned his head to the side, where there was a lingering warmth in the sheet beside him; the spot where Ke Miantang had slept still held a faint warmth.

Seeing this, he raised an eyebrow slightly, a knowing smile appearing on his face, and then slowly sat up.

Rong She threw back the covers, his dark pajama pants loosely tied at the waist. He stood up barefoot, his broad shoulders casting a long shadow in the dim light.

That idiot stayed up all night and went to steal his files, even entering the wrong password three times.

He chuckled softly, took a step towards the door, and prepared to catch the clumsy little thief.

At the study door, Ke Mian Tang slipped out and scrambled back inside, mentally cursing the system: "Did you learn your hacking skills from a roadside stall?!"

The system also felt guilty: "This system did not expect that the male protagonist would install such advanced security programs on the computer."

Ke Miantang didn't have time to argue with it; she had to go back before Rong She woke up, otherwise it would be embarrassing if she got caught.

As she ran out of the study, she caught the edge of the raised carpet and then, without control, stumbled forward and fell with a cry of "Ouch!" onto the wool carpet in the hallway.

It didn't hurt; the carpet was very thick, but my posture was quite awkward.

She was lying on the floor, her nightgown strap had slipped down to one side, and her hair was a mess.

As soon as she propped herself up on her arms and raised her head, she saw a pair of bare feet stopped in front of her.

Ke Miantang slowly raised her head, following the movement upwards along those long, slender legs...

Rong She looked down at her, arms crossed, his eyes lowered in a half-smile, as if he had been watching her for a long time.

Her mind went blank for a moment, then her eyes darted around and her little mouth pursed.

"Waaah..."

She didn't actually intend to cry, but the scene was too terrifying; she was caught red-handed and even tripped and fell...

Ke Miantang couldn't think of any other way, so she could only cry.

Rong She's previously amused expression vanished. He quickly squatted down, reached out and pulled her into his arms, checking her knees and elbows with his palms. His tone was heavy: "Why were you running in such a hurry? What if you hurt yourself?"

Ke Miantang buried her face in his chest, her voice muffled and nasal, as if she were faking a sob: "I had a nightmare, and when I woke up I was running away, boohoo."

"Nightmare?" Rong She looked down at her. "Are you sleepwalking?"

She nodded pitifully, afraid he would ask more questions, and snuggled closer to him: "It hurts so much, can you check me?"

Rong She didn't expose her, but instead carried her by the thighs like a child and led her towards the bedroom.

A short while later, he put her back on the bed, bent down to check her knees and elbows, and found that they were indeed unharmed, not even red.

Ke Miantang felt a little ticklish from his touch and shrank her legs.

"Does it still hurt?" He looked up at her.

She nodded quickly, pouting as she snuggled into his arms again, as if she had suffered a great injustice: "It hurts, it hurts everywhere."

Rong She reached out and pulled her into his arms, his voice languid: "Nightmare, huh?"

"Um."

"What did you dream about?"

"I don't remember."

Rong She sighed, his tone serious: "Sleepwalking is no small matter; you need to go to the hospital for a thorough checkup."

Upon hearing this, Ke Miantang quickly shook her head, rubbing her fluffy head against his chest: "No need, no need, it's just a minor problem..."

"No." He interrupted her, his tone extremely serious: "You are very important, I won't allow anything to happen to you."

Ke Miantang's heart skipped a beat at his words.

Before I could even feel moved, he started explaining the various drawbacks of sleepwalking.

He spoke very specifically about sleep disorders, potential problems with the nervous system, and the potential accidental injuries that long-term sleepwalking could cause, explaining each case very clearly.

Ke Miantang became more and more frightened as she listened, and her expression grew increasingly pitiful.

From her unseen perspective, Rong She's lips curved slightly in the dim light.

At that moment, the system beeped in his mind: "Host, agree to his request."

Ke Miantang's eyes widened, and she cursed the system in her mind: "Are you crazy? You really want me to go for a checkup?"

The system calmly analyzed: "This is a good opportunity to go to his lab and see what he's up to."

Ke Miantang was stunned upon hearing this.

The system makes a lot of sense. She's always been curious about what he's been busy with; maybe she can find something in the lab.

"Then," she lifted her head from his embrace, looking at him with teary eyes, "you have to come with me to your lab to investigate. You can't leave me with other doctors."

Rong She's smile widened slightly in the dim light, his voice still calm: "Okay, I'll take you tomorrow."

Ke Miantang breathed a sigh of relief, pretended to yawn, and mumbled, "Then I'm going to sleep."

"Um."

She nestled in Rong She's arms and found a comfortable sleeping position, thinking to herself that she really shouldn't have trusted this unreliable system tonight. Luckily, she was smart!

If I get suspected, I'm finished.

The next morning around 7 a.m., Ke Miantang wrapped herself up like a cocoon, with only a small tuft of fuzzy hair showing.

The room was warm, and her cheeks were flushed from being wrapped up, her breathing even and deep.

Rong She had already changed his clothes and sat on the edge of the bed watching her lingering in bed. He reached out and brushed aside a tuft of hair sticking up from her head: "Don't you want to go to the lab?"

The next second, the system beeped in his mind, urging him: "Ke Miantang, get up quickly, it's important! You have to go to the company with Rong She today. Remember, stick to him at all times and don't leave his side. Don't let him have a chance to go to the lab alone."

Ke Miantang let out a painful whimper from under the covers: "Can we go this afternoon?"

"I'm going to inspect the factory this afternoon." Rong She reached out and patted her side through the blanket. "If you're really sleepy, just keep sleeping."

There was a moment of silence in the blankets, then a hand emerged from the edge of the covers, swaying softly, its fingers opening and closing.

Rong She smiled, leaned over, and pulled the person from under the covers into his arms.

She was so limp that she felt like she had no bones; her head rested on his shoulder, her eyes still closed.

He carried her to the bathroom, placed her by the sink, squeezed some toothpaste into her mouth with one hand, and she opened her mouth dazedly and took it in.

Rong She looked at her half-asleep state, a faint smile in his eyes, and felt that she was like a soft piece of candy.

After washing up, Ke Miantang sat lazily on a low stool in front of the dressing table, swinging her legs, waiting to be served.

Rong She stood in front of the open wardrobe, her fingers tracing the row of hangers, occasionally pulling out a garment to hold up against her.

Choosing clothes is a skill for him. It's not that he doesn't know how to match, it's just that she has so many clothes in a wide variety of colors, which is completely different from his monotonous black, white and gray style.

"That one." Ke Miantang lazily pointed to a light pink knitted cardigan.

He took it off, walked up to her, held her wrist and helped her put it on, then bent down and buttoned it one button at a time.

The movements were serious and patient, with the fingertips twisting the small button through the buttonhole.

Ke Miantang looked down and a thought suddenly popped into his mind: if he had a daughter in the future, would he dress her like this?
