When I'm on the night shift, all the department heads can't sleep.

Chapter 33 Save the mother first, but don't abandon the child.

As soon as the anesthesiologist entered the room, Shen Ruomei tore off a section of the monitoring paper.

"Twenty-nine weeks, blunt abdominal contusion from a car accident, contractions, slight vaginal bleeding, and repeated deceleration of the fetal heart rate." She spoke quickly, "Placeional abruption is highly suspected, and fetal distress is present. I need to go to the operating room to assess the possibility of a cesarean section."

The pregnant woman's face was pale and bluish, and she gripped the bed sheet tightly with her fingers.

"Doctor, where's my husband?"

No one dared to directly tell her the words "He is also being rescued."

Lin Ye glanced at the operating room corridor. The second stretcher had already been pushed to the door, with Sun Zhiqiang following along, and Meng Qingwei instructing on the preparation of blood.

"Your husband is being treated on the other side, and the doctor has taken over," Lin Ye said. "Now, just listen to Director Shen and focus on stabilizing your breathing."

The pregnant woman's tears streamed down her temples and into her hair: "Will I lose the baby?"

Shen Ruomei leaned down, her voice lacking its usual harshness, but it was even heavier.

"I'm not lying to you. The child is in danger, and you are in danger too. We must save you first, then do everything we can to save the child. You can't move around right now, and you can't hold your breath, understand?"

The pregnant woman's lips trembled slightly, then she nodded.

Despite her harsh words, the pregnant woman slowly released the breath she had been holding in.

The anesthesiologist quickly checked the monitor: "Her blood pressure is manageable, but her heart rate is too high, and blood loss cannot be ruled out. Have we sent a blood transfusion for cross-matching?"

Nurse Zhao clipped the blood matching receipt to the back of the monitoring record: "It's been sent, and we've also contacted them about preparing type O emergency blood."

Shen Ruomei turned her head: "Where's the neonatal ward?"

Another female voice came from the corridor: "Coming."

Liang Xiulan arrived, wearing a coat, her face colder than anyone else's: "Twenty-nine weeks?"

"Twenty-nine weeks," Shen Ruomei said.

Liang Xiulan looked at the fetal heart monitor: "If the baby comes out, I'll prepare for resuscitation after premature infant asphyxia. Have the warming table, endotracheal tube, and surfactant sent to the operating room door."

Nurse Zhao muttered to herself, "I'm really not going to get any sleep in the director's group chat tonight."

Qin Hai heard this but didn't scold her. He only said, "You can make up for lost sleep tomorrow, but you can't make up for lost life."

Lin Ye stood between the two beds, with the alarm of the fetal heart monitor on one side and Lele's suppressed breathing on the other.

The system notification in front of Lin Ye was divided into two parts, both bright red.

[Patient #3 in the Red Zone: Continued risk of placental abruption.]

[Patient #4 in the red zone: Risk of intra-abdominal bleeding persists.]

No sorting.

They didn't tell him which way to go first.

Two red borders were jumping side by side, and no one in the emergency room could stand in the middle and just stand there doing nothing.

The system in front of Lin Ye can circle the dangers, but the deployment of troops still depends on people.

Qin Hai pointed to the pregnant woman: "Shen Ruomei, anesthesiologist, neonatologist, number three, go to the obstetrics operating room via the green channel. Nurse Zhao, arrange for someone to accompany you in the ambulance. Let your brother first take the informed consent form for the family members present. Do not block the emergency room."

He then pointed to Lele: "Lin Ye, you keep an eye on Lele. Sun Zhiqiang will take over after he takes Number Two to the general surgery ward. If the child's blood pressure drops again, call me immediately."

"Yes."

The pregnant woman's younger brother was led to the information desk by the nurse; his hands were shaking so badly he couldn't even hold a pen.

"Where's my brother-in-law? Shouldn't he be the one signing this?"

Nurse Zhao placed the informed consent form on the table: "Your brother-in-law is also being resuscitated. Are you a close relative?"

"I am her brother."

"Then first, confirm your presence in the informed consent form. Continue to contact your husband, and simultaneously apply for emergency green channel at the hospital. This doesn't mean abandoning anyone, it just means you know that the situation is very dangerous. If you are slow to sign the consent form, the danger won't wait for you."

The younger brother's tears fell onto the paper as he lowered his head to write his name.

As the pregnant woman was being pushed away, the second injured person happened to pass by through another passage.

The two stretchers brushed past each other at the entrance of the corridor.

When the man saw his wife, his eyes immediately reddened, and he tried to reach out but couldn't lift his hand.

"Xiaoya!"

The pregnant woman heard the sound and turned her head.

"Don't move..." she said weakly. "And don't die."

The man's lips trembled: "I won't die, and you won't allow it either."

The two stretchers stopped for only a second before being pushed to different operating rooms.

Lin Ye didn't have time to finish reading it.

Lele's monitor went off again.

"Blood pressure 78-48," Jiang Peng said, his voice strained. "Heart rate 156."

The child still didn't cry, but curled up even tighter.

Lin Ye pressed on his abdomen, and the resistance in the upper left abdomen was more obvious.

"Sister Zhao, the second route."

"Looking for it."

"Notify the blood transfusion department, the child's trauma is suspected to be spleen damage, prepare blood quickly." Lin Ye looked up, "Director Qin, Lele's blood pressure continues to drop."

Qin Hai turned around from the doorway and immediately saw the monitoring number.

"Has Meng Qingwei's second-tier position been reached yet?"

There was noise coming from the other end of the phone, so Nurse Zhao put it on speakerphone.

Meng Qingwei roared, "We're here! Number two is already in the ward. Push the baby towards the operating area; I'll have the deputy director take over!"

Lin Ye added: "Bedside ultrasound showed a fluid-filled dark area in the spleen and kidney recesses, indicating a safety margin injury and a tendency to shock."

Meng Qingwei paused for half a second: "Don't wait for the CT scan. Bring the person over, I'll take a look at the door, and then prepare for trauma abdominal exploratory laparotomy."

Jiang Peng stopped writing: "Not a CT scan?"

Qin Hai looked at him: "With the child's blood pressure like this, do you want him to die on the CT scan bed?"

Jiang Peng's face turned pale: "I wrote: hemodynamic instability, positive bedside ultrasound, surgical evaluation first."

Lin Ye glanced at him.

Jiang Peng's pen never stopped.

That line of evidence was written quickly and heavily.

Nurse Zhao finally inserted the second intravenous line: "It's in!"

Lele looked at Lin Ye and asked softly, "Uncle, will I die?"

No one spoke in the emergency room.

Lin Ye grasped his hand.

"You have to do one thing now," he said. "Don't sleep. Look at me and count the folds in my mask. It's okay if you miscount, just keep counting."

Lele blinked: "One...two..."

The sound was so faint that it was quickly drowned out by the monitor.

But he was still counting.

A system notification popped up in front of Lin Ye's eyes.

[Patient No. 4 in the Red Zone: Entering the surgical treatment process.]

Almost at the same second, a phone call came from the direction of the obstetrics operating room.

Nurse Zhao answered the call and looked at Qin Hai.

"Director Shen said that the fetal heart rate of the third baby remained poor, and an emergency cesarean section should be prepared. The neonatal department is already on standby."

Qin Hai only asked one question: "Where is the master?"

"We can hold on for now, and we are preparing blood."

Qin Hai nodded: "Tell her that we can bring in more people for the emergency room at any time."

Lin Ye pushed Lele toward the operating room, still holding the child's cold fingers in his hand.

At the end of the corridor, the operating room light for the second injured patient was on.

Meanwhile, the lights in the obstetrics operating room also came on.

The rain outside the emergency room hadn't stopped.

All four members of the red zone on the first night have gone through the process.

However, the text on the system taskbar did not turn green.

[Objective: All patients in the red zone will enter an effective treatment process.]

[Additional monitoring: Effective procedures do not equate to effective outcomes.]

Lin Ye paused in his steps.

No wonder Qin Hai never reveals anything prematurely in the emergency room.

Sending someone in doesn't mean they'll be saved.

The operating room door closed in front of him.

Lele's counting was cut off by the crack in the door.
