After exiting the Blue-Eyed Fox Corpse Tomb, the group continued deeper into the tomb in the opposite direction of the passageway.

Zhang Qiling walked at the front, with Hei Xiazi bringing up the rear.

Zhang Qiling stepped forward with his sword drawn and slashed at the shoulder of one of the bodies.

The blade cut into the rotten flesh with a soft, dull feel, like chopping into a lump of waterlogged wood.

The poisonous corpse swung its arm, its force astonishing.

Zhang Qiling dodged to the side, and before she could retract her blade, she slashed again, forcing the poisonous corpse back half a step.

"Run!" Hei Xiazi shoved Wu Xie, who was standing frozen in place. "Bullets can't penetrate it. Fighting it head-on here is just suicide."

Wu Wei grabbed Wu Xie's wrist and dragged him deeper into the tomb passage.

Pan Zi led Wu Sansheng and ran in the other direction.

Behind them came the sound of Hei Xiazi firing his gun for cover; bullets struck the poisonous corpses with muffled thuds, mixed with the sharp whistling of Zhang Qiling's Black Gold Ancient Blade cutting through the wind.

But the two poisonous corpses ignored the attack and stubbornly chased after them step by step.
