Tomb raiders: You stole my little Qilin?

Chapter 28 Little Yellow Chick Toothbrush

Wu Wei smiled, his eyes crinkling, and blurted out without thinking, "Of course. I really like Blackie's personality."

Black Bear's hand jerked violently, and the teacup almost slipped from his grasp.

He slammed the cup down on the tea table, turned his head away, and let out a violent cough.

Wu Wei's words were automatically disassembled and reassembled in his mind.

The statement changed from "I really like Blackie's personality" to "I really like Blackie."

"Hey, are you alright?" Wu Wei quickly handed him a tissue.

"...It's nothing." Hei Xiazi took the tissue and wiped his mouth, his voice a little hoarse. "The tea was too hot."

Wu Wei looked down at the cup of Baihao Yinzhen tea on the table, which had already cooled down, and was puzzled.

Hei Xiazi picked up his teacup again and took a big gulp, suppressing all those chaotic thoughts.

He cleared his throat and spoke again in his usual nonchalant tone: "White tea and Pu'er tea, that's what a blind man likes."

Wu Wei nodded and instructed the servants to pack one pound of each of the two types of tea.

Then he took out a dark green tin can from the innermost cabinet of the tea shelf and handed it to Hei Xiazi: "This is Longjing tea that I like to drink. Take it back and have a taste, Master Hei."

Hei Xiazi took the jar, weighed it in his hand, and a smile curved his lips in a way he himself didn't even realize.

"Alright, then the blind man won't stand on ceremony."

When Wu Erbai returned to the living room with the tea, he and Zhang Qiling had obviously finished their conversation.

The two sat facing each other, their teacups barely touched, and no one knew what they had talked about in private.

Wu Wei quickly walked to Zhang Qiling's side and asked in a low voice, "Are you alright?"

Zhang Qiling shook his head, stood up, and prepared to take his leave.

Just as Wu Wei was about to say, "I'll go see him off," he heard Wu Erbai speak up unhurriedly.

"Xiao Wei, you should follow Chief Zhang around these days."

Wu Wei was stunned. He turned to look at his father, completely bewildered.

Weren't they just unhappy about him getting involved with the Zhang family? Why are they suddenly sending him away?

"Learn something from the Zhang family," Wu Erbai added.

"Now that someone can teach you, don't waste it."

Wu Wei carefully examined his father's expression, trying to find some clue on that inscrutable face.

But who is Wu Erbai? What he wants to hide, no one else can possibly see through.

"Dad, are you sure you want me to go with you?" Wu Wei asked tentatively.

He didn't want to leave the house today and then receive a call from his father tomorrow scolding him for not coming home.

"Stop nagging." Wu Erbai frowned, but a barely perceptible smile still appeared at the corner of his eye. "Go."

Wu Wei was relieved and walked over to Wu Erbai, giving him another word of advice:

"Then call Uncle Erjing over. Don't do everything yourself; your health is the most important thing."

Wu Erbai's cold demeanor finally crumbled.

A few smile lines appeared at the corners of her eyes, and her tone softened: "I understand."

When the three of them walked out the door, the sun was already high in the sky.

The bright sunlight shone on the blue brick walls of the alley, making people squint slightly.

As Hei Xiazi was about to walk towards his SUV with all the broken glass, a brand new black SUV blocked his way.

The car body was jet black and shiny, so shiny you could see your reflection in it; even the smell of rubber from the tires hadn't completely dissipated.

Just as Hei Xiazi was about to curse him for being immoral, he heard a series of hurried footsteps behind him.

"Young Master, wait a moment!"

Sanhe jogged out of the door, carrying a brand new car key in his hand.

Wu Wei turned around, "Uncle Sanhe?"

Sanhe ran up to Wu Wei and shoved the keys into his hand: "Second Master said you were ambushed on the road and asked me to deliver a safe car to Master Hei."

Before Wu Wei could react, Hei Xiazi had already strode over and circled the new car.

Bulletproof glass, reinforced chassis, genuine leather seats.

He touched the hood of the car, then the doors, growing happier with each touch, grinning from ear to ear: "Oh, thank Master Wu for me! Master Wu is so generous! So incredibly generous!"

Wu Wei snapped out of his daze, tossed the key to Hei Xiazi, and turned to Sanhe, saying:

"Uncle Sanhe, have someone tow that old car away for repairs. Replace all the windows and get it serviced. Then just drive it to the address I gave you."

Sanhe took out a small notebook and wrote down Hei Xiazi's address. He nodded to the three of them and turned to go back.

Black Bear had already climbed into the driver's seat, lovingly caressing the steering wheel, and shouted out the window, "Mute, Second Master, get in! Black Bear will take you for a ride!"

Seeing his happy expression, Wu Wei couldn't help but smile, opened the car door, and followed Zhang Qiling into the back seat.

"Don't call me Second Master anymore, just call me Wu Wei. I'll be relying on Master Hei for the next few days."

Black Bear was still basking in the joy of his new car, and waved his hand:

"Don't worry about the trouble, just call me Blind Man. 'Blackie' is a nickname for outsiders."

The new car started, the engine emitted a deep hum, and it smoothly drove out of the alley.

Instead of taking the two home, Hei Xiazi drove to the supermarket.

Since Wu Wei is going to stay here, we should buy some daily necessities.

Even as Wu Wei entered the supermarket, he was still marveling at how, beneath Hei Xiazi's carefree exterior, there was definitely a sensitive heart.

As soon as he arrived at the supermarket, Hei Xiazi went straight to the fresh produce section. He was in a good mood today and was going to cook a big meal.

Zhang Qiling accompanied Wu Wei as he picked out daily necessities.

Towels, slippers, and pajamas are all provided.

The two disagreed on how to buy a toothbrush.

Wu Wei chose a simple white toothbrush, while Zhang Qiling handed him a children's toothbrush with a little yellow chick design.

"Hey buddy, that's the children's size."

Zhang Qiling didn't sense anything was wrong; this looked great.

Moreover, according to the lifespan of the Zhang family, Wu Wei could be considered a child.

Wu Wei was somewhat troubled, yet unable to resist Zhang Qiling's sincere gaze, "Is it really beautiful?"

"It looks good." Zhang Qiling's answer was firm and decisive.

"Alright."

Wu Wei simply grabbed three different colored chick-shaped toothbrushes and put them in his shopping cart, thinking he would use them all if they looked nice.

When it came time to pay, Wu Wei realized he hadn't brought any cash.

When Hei Xiazi saw this, he tried to pay, but Wu Wei stopped him.

He handed over the credit card Wu Erbai had given him, intending to swipe some of Wu Erbai's money to put his mind at ease.

The clerk simply swipes the POS machine to complete the payment.

Hei Xiazi looked at this fast payment method thoughtfully.

"Wu Wei, you mute, do you think it's okay for me to carry a POS machine with me from now on, and settle the bill on the spot?"

Zhang Qiling stared speechlessly at the money-grubber without saying a word.

Wu Wei, however, was amused. "You're really creative!"

They returned to Hei Xiazi's courtyard carrying large and small bags of things.

As soon as I got off the bus, I saw several people standing at the door, as if they had been waiting for them.

Several small trucks were parked behind the car, covered with black cloth.

Judging from its shape, it should be furniture or something similar.
