Tomb raiders: You stole my little Qilin?

Chapter 35 Buying Clothes for the Blind

The pork rib soup was simmered in a clay pot for nearly two hours. The soup had turned milky white, the meat was tender and easily separated from the bone, and the aroma was wonderful.

During the meal, Wu Wei told her about his upcoming business trip.

Black Bear handed him a bowl and chopsticks, asking casually, "Where is this?"

"Henan, a small county town." Wu Wei gave a general account of the translated content, and also mentioned the part of the stone slab in the tomb that had been chiseled away.

"My junior colleague wants me to go and see the actual object; maybe I can piece together more clues."

"Are you very familiar with your junior brother?" Hei Xiazi asked abruptly.

But Wu Wei didn't feel anything was wrong and answered while biting into his rib.

"I haven't seen him since graduation; we only exchange a few messages a year."

After swallowing the food in his mouth, Wu Wei extended an invitation to Hei Xiazi:

"Hey, let's go together. The guy isn't here, and you're just killing time anyway."

"You want me to come along?"

"Of course, there's also the consulting fee. Let's go out and earn some extra money together."

"Alright, since you've sincerely invited the blind man."

"...A tsundere."

"What is it?"

"...It's nothing."

The next morning, Wu Wei collapsed onto a recliner, panting heavily, after a fight with Hei Xiazi.

My workout clothes were soaked with sweat and felt sticky against my body.

Hei Xiazi acted as if nothing had happened, bringing out two glasses of ice water from the kitchen. He handed one to him and drank half of the other himself.

The phone vibrated on the coffee table with a crisp sound.

Wu Wei was too lazy to get up, so he stretched out his arm to reach it, swiped the screen, and saw a message from Yin Fengjue.

Everything's arranged. We'll meet at Zhengyang Road tomorrow and head to Henan.

Wu Wei read the message aloud to Hei Xiazi.

After listening, Hei Xiazi grunted in agreement. "I'll go to the supermarket later to buy some daily necessities."

As soon as Wu Wei finished his workout, all the muscles in his body protested and immediately objected.

"don't want!"

Hei Xiazi put the cup on the table, walked over, grabbed his arm, and dragged him outside.

Wu Wei was pulled so hard that he slid off the recliner without even putting his shoes on properly.

"Stop! No, stop!"

Black Bear remained unmoved and continued walking towards the door.

Wu Wei was dragged along on one leg and hopped several steps. Finally, unable to continue, he shouted:

"I can't go out all sweaty, I should at least take a shower."

Hei Xiazi then released his grip.

Looking down at Wu Wei's wet hair and the stray hairs sticking to his forehead, he finally let him go.

Wu Wei rubbed his wrist and walked towards the bathroom, while Hei Xiazi also turned around and went into his own bathroom.

The two of them came out of the shower feeling refreshed.

Hei Xiazi drove his brand-new SUV to the supermarket and pushed the shopping cart straight to the daily necessities section.

Wu Wei followed behind him, watching as Hei Xiazi swept a bunch of disposable toiletries off the shelf without even blinking.

Wu Wei picked up a bag and looked at it, then asked him curiously, "The archaeological team should be booking hotels for us, why are you buying these?"

Black Bear looked at him with the eyes of someone who had been through it all, and said earnestly:

"Have you ever gone to the countryside with an archaeological team? They say they'll book a hotel, but nine times out of ten it'll be one of those guesthouses that might not even have hot water. In some places close to the excavation site, you'll be lucky if they can arrange for you to stay with a local villager."

Although Wu Wei still thought the archaeological team would book a hotel for them, he also felt that Hei Xiazi's words made some sense, so he let him throw a lot of things into the shopping cart.

The third floor of the supermarket is the clothing section.

Wu Wei's decision to come to Beijing was sudden. He didn't bring enough clothes, so he took Hei Xiazi up the escalator to the third floor.

The men's clothing section wasn't crowded, the lighting was bright and clean, and the shelves were neatly stocked with the latest seasonal styles.

Wu Wei wasn't picky about clothes. He casually picked out a few simple solid-color short-sleeved shirts, didn't even try them on, just told the shop assistant his size and put them on.

Just as he was about to leave, he suddenly stopped.

He glanced back at the black bear beside him, who always wore a black short-sleeved shirt, and touched his chin.

"Blind!" Wu Wei shouted.

Hei Xiazi was leaning against the shelf waiting for him when he heard this, so he turned his head to the side.

Wu Wei turned around, walked to the row of clothes racks he had just passed, and picked up a very simple white shirt from it.

The design is simple, the cut is crisp, and the stitching at the collar and cuffs is neat and clean.

Wu Wei unfolded the clothes, compared them to Hei Xiazi's body, then took a pair of pants and stuffed them into Hei Xiazi's arms.

"Give it a try."

Black Bear looked down at the clothes in his arms and shook his head.

"Give it a try," Wu Wei said, tilting his head to look at him.

Black Bear still shook his head.

"Give it a try, give it a try." Wu Wei took a step forward, unconsciously drawing out the last syllable.

He clearly has a cold and handsome face, with prominent brow bones and clean features, but when those peach blossom eyes smile, his whole demeanor changes.

He tilted his head slightly to look at Hei Xiazi, his eyes full of anticipation. "You'll look really good in that."

Black Bear fell silent.

His sunglasses obscured his eyes, but he tightened his grip on his shirt.

A moment later, he turned and went into the fitting room.

Wu Wei leaned against the wall outside the fitting room, a smile on his lips.

After waiting for a few minutes, the curtain was lifted, and Hei Xiazi came out.

The shirt was perfectly tailored, fitted at the waist but not too tight, and the hem was neatly tucked into the black trousers.

Hei Xiazi's shoulders and back were already broad and upright, and the lines of his shirt accentuated his figure, making him look like a sharp sword that had been wiped clean of dust, revealing its full edge.

He stood under the lights in the fitting room, a rare hint of unease on his angular face.

Wu Wei straightened up and let out a sincere sigh:

"Nonsense, you only wear black short-sleeved shirts all the time, it's a waste of your good looks."

Although Hei Xiazi didn't understand what "good looks" meant, he could tell from Wu Wei's tone and expression that it was a compliment.

He turned his head away, rested his chin on the back of his hand, and coughed twice, neither too hard nor too softly.

Wu Wei noticed this subtle reaction from him and immediately pressed his advantage.

Turning back to the clothes rack, she picked up one item after another: a white short-sleeved T-shirt, a dark gray shirt, a hooded sleeveless sweatshirt...

Then he stuffed all the clothes into Black Bear's arms and pushed him into the fitting room.

Black Bear stood at the door of the fitting room, holding a pile of clothes, looking somewhat helpless, but he did not refuse.

Wu Wei waited for Hei Xiazi outside. Every time Hei Xiazi changed his clothes, he would lift the curtain and come out, letting out a heartfelt sigh.

"This color looks good too." "You have such a great body!!" "So handsome!"

Later, Hei Xiazi's expression changed from initial discomfort to cooperation.

She even walked up to the full-length mirror, turned to look at herself, and asked Wu Wei:

"How about this one?"

"Great, that's perfect."

Wu Wei sat on the waiting chair next to the fitting room, legs crossed, and nodded in satisfaction.

When he walked out of the supermarket, apart from the sunglasses still on his nose, Hei Xiazi had changed almost everything from head to toe.

White T-shirt, light-colored jeans, and a pair of simple white sneakers.

The bright, clear light at the supermarket entrance made him look clean and refreshed, as if he were a completely different person.

The two men, carrying loads of things, walked to a glass curtain wall at the entrance, where Wu Wei stopped.

"How is it? Blind, isn't it much better looking?"

Wu Wei raised his chin, gesturing for Hei Xiazi to look at his reflection in the glass.

Black Bear stared at his reflection in the glass, lost in thought.

He hadn't worn such brightly colored clothes in many years.

The person in front of me is him, yet he doesn't quite look like him.

Wu Wei moved closer to the glass, shifting his reflection half a shoulder to Hei Xiazi's side, and compared their heights.

He was a couple of centimeters shorter than Hei Xiazi, and his shoulders were a bit narrower. Standing next to Hei Xiazi, he appeared tall and slender.

"Now we look about the same age." Wu Wei smiled with satisfaction.

Suddenly, Hei Xiazi spoke up: "Do you know how old I am?"

Wu Wei shook his head. He truly didn't know, but what did age matter to someone who had achieved immortality?

"It's not important," Wu Wei said.

Hei Xiazi looked at Wu Wei through his sunglasses.

There was no curiosity or probing in those peach blossom eyes.

It's as if Wu's statement that it's unimportant truly means it's unimportant.

"Young Master Wu," Hei Xiazi called out, using the same term they had used for Wu Wei when they first met.

"You're a really strange person."

Black Bear's tone was inscrutable, and his emotions were impossible to discern:

"Seemingly carefree, seemingly cautious, seemingly loyal and affectionate, yet seemingly indifferent to everything."

Wu Wei was slightly taken aback when Hei Xiazi suddenly said that, and then a smile curved his lips:

Is this a compliment or an insult?

Figure it out yourself.

Hei Xiazi curled the corners of his lips, switched the shopping bag in one hand to the other, and turned to walk towards the parking lot.

Wu Wei stood still, watching Hei Xiazi's back.

The hem of his white T-shirt was lifted by a corner in the breeze, and the figure looked more like an ordinary young man than before.

Wu Wei smiled, picked up the two men's clothes, and quickly followed.

"Wait for me."
