Tomb raiders: You stole my little Qilin?

Chapter 40 Zhang Qiling's Chapter Arrives

The two returned to Beijing after a long and tiring journey, and it was already afternoon when the car turned into the alley.

Black Bear parked the car and walked behind, carrying two backpacks.

Wu Wei yawned and went to push the courtyard gate. As soon as his hand touched it, the gate opened a crack—it wasn't locked.

He paused for a moment, then pushed open the door and walked inside.

A person was sitting on the sofa in the main hall.

A dark blue hoodie, his back straight.

The TV was on, and the screen was flashing brightly.

Zhang Qiling sat in the center of the sofa, his posture somewhere between daydreaming and watching TV.

"Brother!" Wu Wei's drowsiness vanished in an instant.

He rushed to the sofa, threw himself at it, and excitedly hugged Zhang Qiling's arm. "Brother, you're back!"

Zhang Qiling's body stiffened instinctively for a moment.

The sudden warmth and weight on his arm made him feel a little uncomfortable.

Then he relaxed his shoulders slightly, a two-pixel smile appeared on his lips, and his voice remained as calm as ever: "I'm back."

At this moment, Hei Xiazi also walked in carrying a backpack.

He put the two bags down in the corner and dusted off his hands.

He glanced at the two people on the sofa and said, "Today is a good day; everyone's here."

Wu Wei took the opportunity to turn around from the sofa.

He still held onto Zhang Qiling's arm with one hand, while making a gesture towards Hei Xiazi with the other:

"Let's not eat at home today, let's go out to eat and celebrate!"

Neither Zhang Qiling nor Hei Xiazi had any objections.

Neither of them had high demands for life, and most of the time they cooperated with Wu Wei's arrangements.

Zhang Qiling looked down at Wu Wei, who was still hanging on his arm.

The excitement hadn't faded, but there was a clear layer of fatigue accumulated from the journey beneath her eyes.

"Go and rest first. We'll go out tonight."

Wu Wei gladly accepted the clan leader's concern, readily stood up from the sofa, and walked towards his room:

"Then I'll take a nap first."

Only two people remained in the main hall. Hei Xiazi stood there, staring at Zhang Qiling expressionlessly.

"Why won't you let me rest? Can't you see my dark circles?"

Zhang Qiling turned his head and answered very seriously, "You don't need to report to me when you're resting."

He paused, his gaze falling on Hei Xiazi's sunglasses, and added, "Besides, I really can't see your dark circles."

Black Bear was so angry at his two sentences that he laughed.

"Zhang the Dumb, you'd better really be a mute."

After saying that, she went back to her room to sleep in a huff.

When Wu Wei woke up, the room was already dark, with only a sliver of streetlight light shining through the gap in the curtains.

Thinking about going out to eat, I pulled myself out of bed.

Pushing open the door, the lights in the main hall were on.

Zhang Qiling was still sitting on the sofa, the TV was still on, showing an old movie with a warm yellow hue on the screen.

Wu Wei checked the time; it was just seven o'clock.

He walked over and sat down at the other end of the sofa, followed Zhang Qiling's gaze to look at the TV screen, then turned to look at him, and suddenly asked:

"Hey buddy, isn't watching TV interesting?"

Zhang Qiling didn't speak, but nodded slightly.

Wu Wei immediately followed up, his tone carrying a hint of tentative opportunism:

"Then I'll watch TV with you tomorrow morning."

This time, Zhang Qiling shook his head without hesitation.

He turned to look at Wu Wei: "The inspection will be conducted tomorrow."

Wu Wei certainly knew what "inspection" meant; it meant checking his recent progress in practicing martial arts with Hei Xiazi.

He slumped back against the sofa and let out a drawn-out wail: "Brother, you're such a stubborn patriarch."

Zhang Qiling remained unmoved.

Wu Wei resignedly got up from the sofa, walked to Hei Xiazi's door, and knocked twice: "Xia, get up."

"Coming." Black Bear's voice came through the door, hoarse from just waking up. "Change your clothes."

The door opened shortly afterward.

Hei Xiazi came out, wearing a white T-shirt, light-colored jeans, and white sneakers—the very outfit Wu Wei had picked out for him at the supermarket.

Wu Wei blinked and gave a thumbs up: "Handsome."

Zhang Qiling's gaze fell on Hei Xiazi, and his brows furrowed for the first time ever.

His clean and neat outfit was a stark contrast to his partner's perpetually black short-sleeved shirt.

Hei Xiazi noticed his expression, walked up to him, and deliberately turned around: "How is it? Wu Wei bought it for me."

Zhang Qiling turned his head and looked at Wu Wei.

There was clearly no emotion in his eyes, yet Wu Wei inexplicably felt a pang of guilt.

She took two steps over and put her arm around Zhang Qiling's arm, her tone carrying a hint of ingratiation that seemed to come out of nowhere: "It's perfect timing that my brother is back. Let's go buy him some clothes and then go have dinner."

Black Bear made a cryptic "tsk" sound from the side.

Before Zhang Qiling could say anything, Wu Wei had already grabbed one of them and walked out.

I didn't go to the supermarket this time.

Wu drove himself to a shopping mall in Dongcheng that specializes in men's clothing.

The three-story detached building had warm lights shining in its shop windows.

It's not common to see a group of three big men here, especially since all three men are very good-looking.

This attracted the attention of the sales staff, who kept glancing in their direction.

Zhang Qiling frowned from the moment he stepped into the first store.

Wu Wei and Hei Xiazi picked them up with great interest.

Whenever Zhang Qiling tried to say "no" or silently take a step toward the door,

Wu Wei would immediately stop what she was doing, raise her peach blossom eyes, and stare at him expectantly.

In Zhang Qiling's eyes, this was a pitiful little Qilin.

Zhang, with his heavily filtered face, couldn't withstand this at all, and silently accepted the clothes under that gaze each time.

A pile of clothes was put into Zhang Qiling's arms and pushed into the fitting room.

When Zhang Qiling lifted the curtain and came out, Hei Xiazi raised an eyebrow. "Not bad, looks presentable."

"How dare you talk like that? You're handsome!"

Wu Wei slapped Hei Xiazi on the shoulder, then turned to Zhang Qiling and smiled, "Brother, ignore him, he's really handsome."

Zhang Qiling stood at the door of the fitting room, watching the two people in front of her singing and dancing, her eyes filled with a mixture of helplessness and resignation.

Wu Wei's phone vibrated midway through the conversation.

I took it out and flipped through it; it was a text message notification that the money had been deposited into my account.

He glanced at the amount and turned the screen towards Hei Xiazi: "The archaeological team has transferred the payment. Half for each of us."

Hei Xiazi glanced at the screen, and without any politeness, nodded directly: "Okay."

Zhang Qiling finally finished changing into all the clothes piled up in the fitting room.

When he came out of the fitting room, he felt even more exhausted than if he had just come out of the tomb.

Wu Wei, still savoring the moment, was looking towards the next shop when Zhang Qiling immediately spoke up:

I'm hungry.

Wu Wei then remembered that their original plan was to go out for a meal, not to buy clothes.

He looked at Zhang Qiling's face, which was filled with "this is the end," and reluctantly withdrew his hand.

When it was time to pay, the cashier took the clothes and scanned them one by one. She looked up and saw Zhang Qiling wearing the new clothes.

She wore the same light blue top as Wu Wei, and they looked strangely similar.

The girl couldn't help but laugh and say to Wu Wei, "You two brothers are both so good-looking."

Wu Wei put his arm around Zhang Qiling's shoulder and said with a smile, "That's right, it's the two of us brothers."

Zhang Qiling didn't speak, but turned to look at Wu Wei with a quiet gaze.

Their facial features are actually not similar.

However, both of them have a cold appearance, and when they stand side by side wearing clothes of the same color, they do look like brothers at first glance.
