Tomb raiders: You stole my little Qilin?

Chapter 64 What kind of person does Wu Wei like?

The dishes were served one by one, each exquisitely presented and made with carefully selected ingredients.

The four of them started eating, and the atmosphere at the dinner table was quite lively.

Xie Yuchen and Wu Wei chatted about their experiences after growing up.

Xie Yuchen talked about how difficult the first few years after taking over the Xie family were, and how he talked about the sleepless nights he spent, explaining the unpredictable and dangerous world of martial arts.

Wu Wei listened attentively, occasionally interjecting with a few words of concern.

Zhang Qiling sat quietly on the other side of Wu Wei.

He barely touched his chopsticks or spoke much; he simply listened attentively to Wu Wei and the head of the Xie family.

He listened to Wu Wei talk about his university days, his travels around the world, and those past experiences that Wu Wei had occasionally mentioned but never elaborated on.

That was Wu Wei's time alone; Zhang Qiling wasn't involved, but he wanted to remember it.

Hei Xiazi sat opposite him, casually picking at his food.

When Wu Wei and Xie Yuchen were talking, he would laugh along and chime in, appearing to be no different from usual.

But the complex emotions surging in his chest were almost overwhelming him.

Xie Yuchen looked at Wu Wei with tenderness, and the words "Brother Wu Wei" came out of his mouth with a special sense of cherishing.

Hei Xiazi drank the tea in his cup in one gulp and poured himself a glass of wine.

The liquor was a little spicy when it went down his throat, but he swallowed it without changing his expression and poured himself another glass.

He didn't know what right he had to feel uncomfortable.

Wu Wei treated him as a friend, and Xie Yuchen was also Wu Wei's friend.

They've known each other since childhood; Wu Wei even saved Xie Yuchen's life.

Who does he think he is?

He was someone Wu Weigang had only known for a few months.

Wu Wei has family, brothers, and friends; his world is full of people.

Hei Xiazi touched his eyes, which weren't covered by sunglasses; this was proof that Wu Wei cared about him.

But Wu Wei cares about more than just himself; he cares about Wu Xie, Zhang Qiling, and maybe even Xie Yuchen now.

Black Bear swallowed another cup of wine.

His past experiences taught him to never have any expectations of anyone, but Wu Wei's sudden appearance stirred up endless anticipation and longing in him.

And then he found himself stuck there.

He dared not back down, fearing he would be reluctant to leave; nor did he dare to move forward, fearing Wu Wei would not be able to accept his estrangement.

After falling in love, feelings of inferiority and overthinking come before courage.

Hei Xiazi finished his third cup of wine and didn't pour any more.

He leaned back in his chair, a seemingly casual smile spreading across his face, and inserted himself into Wu Wei and Xie Yuchen's conversation:

"Master Xie, I heard that your Xie family has recently acquired several branches in the south. You've made quite a move."

The conversation shifted to business. Xie Yuchen didn't mind and chatted for a few minutes.

Wu Wei wasn't very interested in these matters of the martial arts world, so he listened quietly and served Zhang Qiling some food.

After finishing her meal, Xie Yuchen called the waiter to settle the bill.

The four of them walked out of the restaurant, and a night breeze blew in their faces, carrying the coolness of early autumn.

Xie Yuchen took out her phone and handed it to Wu Wei: "Brother Wu Wei, leave me your number. Let's keep in touch."

Wu Wei took the phone, saved his number, dialed it, and hung up only after hearing his own phone ring. "Okay, contact me anytime."

Xie Yuchen looked at the number on the screen, a slight smile playing on his lips, and put his phone into his suit pocket.

"Then I'll be going now. Brother Wu Wei, you two, see you later."

He nodded to the three of them, turned and walked towards a black sedan parked by the roadside, and soon disappeared into the night.

Wu Wei watched him leave and sighed:

"Xiao Hua has really grown up. She was a pretty little girl in costume when she was little, but now she's a capable person who can stand on her own."

Wu Wei clasped his hands behind his head, stretched his shoulders in the night breeze, and was in a good mood.

Hei Xiazi stood beside him, watching the direction Xie Yuchen had left, and suddenly said:

"Jie Yuchen seems to really like you."

"Of course," Wu Wei replied matter-of-factly, without the slightest hesitation.

"We've known each other since we were kids. I accidentally saved him once when we were little, and he's always remembered it."

Hei Xiazi put his hands in his pockets and followed Wu Wei and Zhang Qiling toward the parking lot.

On the way back to Wu Wei, Zhang Qiling was driving.

Wu Wei, sitting in the passenger seat, was still scrolling through his phone, sending a message to Wu Xie saying that he had run into Xiao Hua today.

Wu Xie replied with a series of exclamation marks, saying that they must get together another day.

Hei Xiazi spoke from the back seat. "What kind of person does Wu Wei like?"

His tone sounded casual, as if he was just making up a topic out of boredom.

Wu Wei was stunned for a moment; he hadn't really thought about this question.

He was an orphan in his previous life, struggling to survive. He had no time for romance, and even the stirrings of adolescence were completely suppressed by his work and studies.

In this life, I transmigrated and was adopted by the Wu family from a young age. I have a system and missions, and I'm busy practicing martial arts, going to school, and going to tombs.

I've never stopped thinking about "liking someone".

Wu Wei tilted his head and thought for a moment, but no specific face came to mind, so he simply gave a vague answer based on popular aesthetics:

"Gentle and beautiful, isn't she?"

Black Bear's fingers tightened slightly.

Gentle. Beautiful.

Black Bear glanced at himself in the rearview mirror subconsciously.

Her angular face is far from being described as "beautiful".

As for gentleness—he never utters a serious word in his life, so when has he ever been associated with "gentleness"?

Xie Yuchen fits the bill quite well. He is handsome and upright, and his every move exudes the refined manners of a scion of a noble family.

Hei Xiazi suppressed his bitterness and put on a nonchalant attitude: "Your standards are pretty high."

"Of course." Wu Wei smiled and put his phone away. "What, you want to introduce me to someone?"

"Forget it." Hei Xiazi watched Zhang Qiling turn into the alley where Wu Erbai's house was located.

"The people I know are all roughnecks, not good enough for our young master."

Wu Wei laughed, amused by him: "You think so highly of me?"

The car stopped at the entrance of the alley. Wu Wei unbuckled his seatbelt and got out of the car, waving to the two people inside: "Hey buddy, be careful on the road."

Zhang Qiling nodded.

Black Bear waved to him, a smile as usual on his lips: "Go in."

Wu Wei turned and went into the courtyard.

Zhang Qiling watched his figure disappear behind the door before slowly driving the car out of the alley.

The carriage was quiet for less than a minute before Zhang Qiling spoke.

He looked at Hei Xiazi in the rearview mirror: "Your question today is very strange."

Hei Xiazi felt a chill in his heart. The Ghost Eye Lotus that Wu Wei had given him not only cured his eyes but also preserved his night vision.

In the dim light, he could clearly see the scrutiny in Zhang Qiling's eyes.

Black Bear put on his playful, smiling face and, seemingly nonchalantly, met Zhang Qiling's gaze in the rearview mirror:

"It's good to show some concern for the kids. If I meet someone suitable, I can introduce them to someone."

There was still a lingering doubt in Zhang Qiling's eyes.

But Hei Xiazi spoke too lightly, and it sounded too much like what he usually said.

Those faint, elusive clues became impossible to trace in this joke.

Zhang Qiling nodded and didn't ask any further questions.

Black Bear turned his gaze away and looked out the window.

Streetlights swept by one after another, casting flickering shadows on his face, which wasn't wearing sunglasses.

He still had a smile on his lips, but his eyes were downcast.

Before, when I wore sunglasses, no one could see me.

Now that his sunglasses are gone, he has to put in a lot of effort to cover up certain things.
