Ruan Tang walked out of the student union building.

A few girls were standing by the flower bed by the entrance. When they saw her come out, they huddled together and said something.

One of the curly-haired men glanced at her, his gaze completely different from a few days ago, filled with malice.

Previously, these people wouldn't have dared to look at her like that.

Ruan Tang walked along the sycamore-lined path toward the teaching building.

Students passed by in twos and threes; some glanced at her, while others looked down at their phones and then looked up at her again.

Two boys walked past her, one of them nudging the other with his elbow, his voice carrying not too loudly, "That's her, the one from PE class."

Ruan Tang paused for a moment, then continued walking forward.

She turned into the fire escape on the side of the teaching building, pushed open the heavy fire door, leaned against the wall, took out her phone, and opened the Shenglan Forum.

The title of the pinned post on the homepage caught my eye: The mass absence from PE class – was the deacon secretary or a rebel infiltrator?

The post was made this morning and has already been upvoted over 300 pages.

Ruan Tang scrolled down and saw a top comment that read: "The entire resistance group skipped class and still got perfect attendance. Anyone with a brain knows something's wrong."

"Ruan Tang has only been in the deacon group for a few days, and she's already turning against outsiders."

"Ungrateful wretch."

As you scroll down further, people start digging into her past.

The address of the flower shop; the father was a gambler; the mother died young.

Ruan Tang scrolled past and saw another long post with the title: "The Deacon Group is being played like fools by a special admission student?" It detailed Ruan Tang's unusual behavior since entering the university.

The post breaks down and analyzes each of her steps: deliberately attracting Si Lin's attention on the playground on the first day of school, deliberately taking off her glasses to show her face, deliberately getting close to Wen Yan, and repeatedly switching between the butler group and the resistance group.

The conclusion was that she was not a well-behaved secretary at all; she was a fence-sitter who used the deacon group as a stepping stone and the resistance group as a way out, hedging her bets on both sides.

The replies below were even more jarring.

Some people are calling for "teaching this traitor a lesson."

Someone suggested, "We hope the deacon will put this traitor on its blacklist."

Some people said, "No need to go to so much trouble. She's just a special admission student. Just wait for her after school."

Ruan Tang turned her phone over and placed it face down on her knee.

It shouldn't have been leaked by the student council.

Although the student council members were dissatisfied with her, they didn't need to resort to such methods.

The deacon group was also disdainful. Si Lin had just warned her in his office, but his warnings always involved direct action, not using public opinion to persecute people.

Wen Yan wouldn't, and Pei Heng was even lazier.

That leaves only the resistance group itself.

No one came to PE class. Su Nian must have notified the resistance group not to attend PE class.

The news spread within the resistance group, and among those people, there were more than just one or two who disliked her.

Especially Fang Zhaoyang, whom she slapped in the classroom.

Once this incident comes to light, all he needs to do is post an anonymous message to shift public opinion and get the whole school to criticize her.

My phone vibrated; it was a message from Cheng Jin: "Have you checked the forums?"

Ruan Tang typed: "I've read it."

Cheng Jin: "Don't go back to the classroom, someone left something on your seat."

Cheng Jin: "You'd better take the day off and go home first."

She stared at the message, her finger hovering over the top of the screen for two seconds. Even Cheng Jin was telling her to run away first?

After all, he had just been warned by Si Lin and was regarded as a spy for the resistance group by the whole school.

The resistance also plotted against her, opposing her at every turn.

Both sides treated her as an enemy, and she had no foothold in the middle.

The fire door in the stairwell was pushed open, and the laughter of several girls drifted in, only to stop abruptly the moment they saw her.

It's her.

"What is she doing here?"

Ruan Tang stood up and put her phone in her pocket.

She didn't look at the girls and walked past them.

-

Ruan Tang walked back to the classroom door. On her desk was a bunch of white chrysanthemums, the petals of which were somewhat wilted.

There were also a few words written on the table in black marker: Traitor.

When the boys in the back row saw her come in, they were first taken aback, and then they started making a fuss.

"Hey, the undercover agent's here." The boy with glasses put his feet up on the desk and tilted his head to look at her.

"Ruan Tang, is what's being said on the forum true? Did you really leak the information about the PE class incident?"

The person next to him laughed, "He's the secretary of the deacon now, why would he tell us the truth?"

Ruan Tang didn't look at them. She walked to her desk and looked down at the bunch of white chrysanthemums.

She reached out and picked up the flowers, then turned to look at the boys. "Who put these here?"

No one answered.

The bespectacled boy shrugged. "Who knows? Maybe some righteous person."

Ruan Tang looked at him for two seconds, then threw the flowers into the trash can.

The boys exchanged glances, probably not expecting her to react this way.

The boy with glasses stood up, walked to her desk, and tapped it with his finger. "Ruan Tang, are you really not afraid or are you just pretending? The forum is full of people cursing you right now."

"How are you planning to get home after school? West gate or south gate? Do you want someone to pick you up?"

Ruan Tang looked up. "Are you so concerned about me because you're going to escort me home?"

The boy next to her laughed, "Who's going to escort her? She has connections."

"It's hard to say whether the higher-ups will protect her. It's no wonder that Young Master Si is angry about what happened in PE class."

Ruan Tang's expression remained unchanged as she continued reading her textbook with her head down.

It's not that I don't get angry; I just learned to be angry from Si Lin.

She could remain composed even when facing him, so what did the sarcasm and ridicule of these few people matter?

Lin Xiaokui was also sitting in the classroom, thinking that Ruan Tang had brought this upon herself.

She refused to join the resistance group when asked, and she wouldn't help when asked. Now she's on the side of the deacon, and is considered an enemy by both sides. She deserves it.

-

On the deacon side.

Si Lin leaned back on the sofa, bored out of his mind, twirling a lighter in his hand.

Pei Heng was leaning to the side, scrolling through his phone. After swiping a few times, he suddenly clicked his tongue, tossed his phone onto the coffee table, and said, "Have you guys been looking at the forums?"

Wen Yan asked in confusion, "What forum?"

"Take a look for yourself," Pei Heng said.

Wen Yan took out his phone and swiped a couple of times, his brows slowly furrowing.

He handed the phone to Si Lin.

Si Lin took it; the screen displayed a pinned post from the Shenglan Forum.

He scrolled down a few pages, his face gradually darkening.

Every single word used to insult Ruan Tang was extremely harsh, calling her an ingrate, a traitor, and that the Deacon Group was completely manipulated by a commoner.

Si Lin tossed the phone back to Wen Yan, "I've warned her several times not to be a pushover, but she just won't listen."

Pei Heng crossed his legs, watching Si Lin's rare loss of composure. "This girl went to great lengths to help the resistance, angering us, only to be betrayed in the end. What was she after?"
