Chapter 340 Vibranium Nanosuit! The Spy's Despair and a New Trump Card
"Once the Xuanwu spacecraft takes off and brings back that iron lump from Lingshen Star, our planet-destroying cannon can be put on the agenda." Li Yichen slammed his palm heavily on the iron railing of the control tower, shaking off a layer of freshly accumulated dust.
At the same time, in an underground nuclear bunker on the other side of Earth.
The reliable guy slammed a stack of freshly printed satellite thermal images onto the oval conference table, the papers sliding out and spilling half a cup of coffee. Brown liquid dripped down the edge of the table.
"Can anyone tell me why this area of Shanghai, which used to be a junkyard, is now shining like a nuclear reactor?" The reliable guy, hands on the table, tie askew, spitting as he spoke, "Dozens of abnormally high heat sources! The electromagnetic fluctuations are even blurring our reconnaissance satellite cameras! What are they building in there? Alien spaceships?"
The intelligence chief sat opposite him, wiping the sweat from his brow with a handkerchief. "Mr. President," he said, "our people can't get in. There are three layers of high-voltage electric fences around it, and the surveillance cameras have no blind spots. And strangely enough, the infrared scans show no signs of human activity inside."
"No living souls? Are ghosts forging steel in there?" The reliable guy grabbed the empty coffee cup and smashed it on the ground, shards scattering everywhere. "Send in the 'Ghost' team stationed in East Asia! I don't care what methods they use, we have to find out tonight what the Great Xia people are up to. If they don't retrieve the core data, let them die in there!"
Shanghai, a future high-tech heavy industrial area.
Li Yichen climbed down the iron ladder of the control tower and headed straight for the deepest part, Factory Zero. This place had the highest security, and it only housed one magnetic confinement plasma nano-forging casting table and five ten-axis machine tools.
As soon as he pushed open the heavy lead door, Ling'er's holographic projection emerged from the watch.
"Brother, one node in the outer surveillance network has been cut off." The little girl pointed to the virtual screen in mid-air, where several red dots were jumping around. "Six rats have scaled the wall and gotten in. They're quite well-equipped, carrying electromagnetic shielding devices and miniature explosives. Judging from their route, they're heading for the Xuanwu module in Factory Building No. 2."
Li Yichen ripped off his suit jacket and tossed it onto the metal chair next to him without even turning his head: "Let security handle it. Be quick, don't make a mess of the floor."
"Okay!" Ling'er gave an OK sign. "Burn it as industrial waste, I guarantee there won't be any ashes left."
Li Yichen walked to the forging table and pushed the last three tons of purified lunar vibranium ore into the feed inlet.
He had a delicate task to do today. Previously, when building the Titan armor, vibranium was measured in tons, directly shaped using magnetic fields. But the nanosuit couldn't be like that. This thing required forcibly breaking down and reassembling the seemingly indestructible vibranium into hundreds of billions of nanoparticles with independent computing capabilities.
"Activate the plasma arc, raise the temperature to the highest threshold." Li Yichen's fingers flew across the control panel.
A blinding white light erupted from inside the forging table. At a temperature of millions of degrees, vibranium began to liquefy. But that wasn't enough. Li Yichen took control of the five ten-axis mother machines and inserted the micro-cutting head and laser etching matrix into the reaction chamber.
Eight hours.
This was a grueling battle that demanded immense mental exertion. Li Yichen stared intently at the lattice reconstruction data on the screen. He needed to disassemble the miniaturized cold fusion reactor technology into nanoscale energy circuits and etch them into every vibranium particle.
"Brother, the crystal lattice stability is nearing its critical point!" Ling'er's voice tightened as she watched the skyrocketing data. "The repulsive reaction of the nanoparticles is violent!"
"Suppress it!" Li Yichen placed his hands on the control panel, his fingers typing in a blur. "Energy diversion! Switch all the output from the backup cold fusion array! Forcibly lock their atomic structure!"
In the sixth hour, the magnetic field generator emitted a sharp overload alarm.
The eighth hour.
Sweat dripped down Li Yichen's chin and onto the floor. The white light in the reaction chamber finally dimmed little by little.
During the eight hours that Li Yichen was working on the nano armor, under the cover of night outside the factory area, six figures dressed in all-black night clothes crept along the wall and into the shadows of Factory No. 1.
The leader of the "Ghost" team, codenamed "Viper," pulled down his night vision goggles and gestured to the team members behind him.
"The security of the Great Xia people is a joke," Viper scoffed over the encrypted communication channel. "They're rendered useless once the outer electric fence is cut, and there isn't even a single human security guard patrolling the factory area. What secrets could be hidden in a place like this?"
"Captain, the thermal imaging still shows zero vital signs." The demolition expert next to him, holding a silenced submachine gun, looked around. "It's eerily quiet."
"It's better if there are no survivors, saves us the trouble of dealing with corpses." Viper pulled out a tactical knife from his thigh. "Go to Factory Two, blow up everything they've made, and take the hard drives."
He had just taken two steps when the concrete ground beneath his feet suddenly shook.
The venomous snake stopped abruptly. In the green light of the night vision goggles, two scarlet points suddenly lit up in the darkness ahead without warning.
Then it was 4 o'clock, 8 o'clock, and 4 o'clock.
Dozens of scarlet electronic eyes opened simultaneously in the darkness, their red light blending together to illuminate the area and giving it a bloody feel.
Viper felt a chill run down his spine as he finally made out the outlines of those things through his night vision goggles. They weren't people at all, but rather silver-white metal skeletons. They had no bionic skin, just pure superconducting tungsten alloy skeletons, over two meters tall, and were unarmed, lined up in a row blocking the middle of the road.
"Fire!" Viper hissed and pulled the trigger.
Six silenced submachine guns simultaneously unleashed a barrage of fire. Specially designed armor-piercing bullets rained down on the Terminator at the front.
Sparks flew everywhere.
The viper watched helplessly as bullets strong enough to pierce steel plates bounced off the metal frame without even leaving a mark.
"What the hell is this monster?!" The demolition expert panicked and reached for the sticky explosives at his waist.
The moment his hand touched the explosives, the Terminator in front of him moved.
Without any unnecessary movements or tactical maneuvers, the Terminator, braving the dense barrage of fire, leaped five meters in a single stride, closing in on the Demolitionist's face. The silver-white mechanical hand reached forward, gripping the barrel of the submachine gun, and clenched its five fingers tightly.
The steel barrel was kneaded into a lump of scrap metal like noodles.
Before the demolition expert could even scream, the Terminator's other hand had already gripped his neck.
"Click."
The sound of a neck bone breaking was chillingly clear in the silent factory area. The Terminator casually tossed the limp corpse to his feet.
Viper went mad. He drew his pistol and fired three shots at the Terminator's electronic eye, but the bullets were blocked in mid-air by an invisible energy shield and fell to the ground.
A crushing defeat. A pure physical, dimensional reduction attack.
Less than fifteen seconds.
Six top-notch spies, trained to the most rigorous standards and commanding tens of millions of dollars on the dark web, were reduced to writhing lumps of flesh on the ground. Not even a single frame of a distress signal was sent.
The Terminator in the lead, its eyes flashing red, bent down, grabbed Viper by the collar, and dragged him like a dead dog toward the distant waste disposal furnace. The furnace door opened, and the intense heat illuminated the Terminator's cold mask. With a flick of its wrist, it tossed several corpses, along with the top-of-the-line spy equipment, into the furnace, which was burning at thousands of degrees Celsius.
The iron gate slammed shut, and a few seconds later, wisps of black smoke billowed from the chimney and drifted away in the night wind.
Inside Factory No. 0.
The blinding plasma arc was completely extinguished.
The hatch of the reaction chamber slid open slowly, and a surge of white, cold air rushed out.
Li Yichen dragged his weary body forward. The tray contained no armor, no parts, only a pool of dark golden liquid. It seemed alive, slowly circulating within the tray, its surface shimmering with a faint, eerie blue light.
He inhaled a large breath of cold air, stretched out his right hand, and dipped his fingertips into the pool of liquid.
The moment they made contact, the dark golden liquid came to life.
It climbed frantically upwards from Li Yichen's fingertips, covering the back of his hand, forearm, and shoulder in a fraction of a second. Driven by neuronal commands, billions of nanoparticles reorganized the crystal lattice at a speed imperceptible to the naked eye.
In the blink of an eye, a dark golden fluid enveloped his entire body.
There were no gaps between the panels, no heavy, stiff feel. The streamlined armor clung tightly to the contours of the muscles, exuding a violent, muscular presence. In the center of the chest, a hexagonal energy matrix glowed with a deep crimson light—a miniature cold fusion reactor pulsating within.
Li Yichen clenched his fists.
The power feedback from inside the armor made him feel that he could smash through the ten-axis industrial mother machine weighing hundreds of tons in front of him with just one punch.
"Click".
With a thought, the dark gold mask covering his face slipped away like water, disappearing into the gaps in the armor around his neck, revealing his sweat-soaked hair and cold, stern face.
He looked up, his gaze passing through the ventilation skylight high up in the factory, towards the dark starry sky outside.
"The day the Xuanwu takes to the skies will be the day Blue Star begins its interstellar plunder." Li Yichen grinned, his voice echoing in the empty factory. "Five years? For some reason, I'm suddenly starting to look forward to it!"
