Am I a Kamen Rider or the real young master who was switched at birth?

Chapter 25 It's hard for people not to make mistakes, isn't it?

When Lin Yumin woke up, the first thing she felt was a tingling and numb sensation in the back of her neck.

Her eyelids were still heavy, and her vision was blurred for a few seconds before it slowly cleared up.

What came into view was the ceiling of the hospital's VIP ward, and then a face peered in from above, appearing upside down in front of her.

Upon seeing that Lin Yumin had woken up, Ye Yang's lips curled into a wide smile, and he said in a light tone, "Big sister, you're awake?"

Lin Yumin blinked, then looked over his shoulder and saw the other people in the ward.

Lin Yuanshan stood by the window with a gloomy expression, his hands behind his back, his brows furrowed into a deep frown.

Su Wanqing sat quietly on the chair by the bed. When she saw her eldest daughter wake up, her shoulders relaxed slightly, but her face did not show the gentle smile she usually wore.

Lin Xingran leaned lazily against the foot of the bed, her arms crossed over her chest, looking at her eldest sister with a complicated expression.

Lin Ying stood next to her second sister. When she saw her eldest sister wake up, she moved her mouth as if she wanted to say something but didn't. She just moved half a step closer to the bedside.

Lin Yumin looked down at herself. She was covered with a light blue hospital blanket, her left sleeve was rolled up to her elbow, and an IV drip was attached to the back of her hand.

Several thin silver needles were stuck in the web of her hand and the inside of her wrist, the ends of the needles still trembling slightly with her pulse.

She felt the same needle-like sensation in the soles of her feet; through the thin blanket, she could feel several needles piercing into the soles of her feet.

She tried moving her fingers, and the needle sensation intensified instantly, making her gasp.

"What's wrong with me?" she asked, her voice a little hoarse.

Lin Xingran sprang up from the foot of the bed, bracing herself on the bed railing with both hands, and said quickly and loudly:

"You were knocked unconscious by that beast Shen Yunzhou! He grabbed you in mid-air and you fell down! You were already unconscious when Lin Ying caught you! Luckily, Ye Yang ran back and took out a packet of silver needles from his pocket, saying he knew acupuncture."

"I thought he was talking nonsense, but after just a few needle pricks, you woke up! Those needles were originally meant to treat Aunt Chang's back pain, but I never expected them to prick you first!"

Lin Xingran withdrew her hand, then put her hands on her hips, saying with obvious anger in her tone, "I told you before to be careful of that guy, but you wouldn't listen! You're as stubborn as a mule!"

"What did you say when I told you—'You don't understand him; he's actually a very kind person'—"

She imitated her older sister's voice perfectly, even capturing seven or eight tenths of that steady yet protective tone.

"Now look what happened! He poisoned you! He's hiding a whole bunch of silent beasts behind him! He even tried to kill Ye Yang! Is this what your 'kind person' is like? If Ye Yang hadn't been in the hospital today, you'd still be lying on the floor right now!"

Lin Ying tugged at her second sister's sleeve. Lin Xingran turned her head and saw Lin Ying's light gray eyes. She moved her lips, then snorted heavily and turned her head to the side.

Lin Yumin kept her head down. Her hands were on the blanket, her fingers slightly curled, her nails digging into her palms and leaving several shallow marks.

The silver needles trembled gently on the back of her hand. She didn't refute a single word her second sister said.

This is extremely rare in the Lin family. There is always a back-and-forth between Lin Yumin and Lin Xingran. No matter who is right or wrong, the eldest sister will at least retort with a "stupid" or "it's asking for trouble".

But she didn't say anything at that moment.

Her lips were pressed into a thin line, and the fine vertical line between her eyebrows was deeper than ever before.

At that moment, Lin Yuanshan walked over from the window. His footsteps were heavy, each step of his leather shoes echoing dully on the hospital floor.

He stood by the bed, looking down at Lin Yumin, who had her head down.

As a father, his first reaction upon seeing his daughter wake up from her coma was, of course, a sense of relief.

But as a general, watching his most prized daughter nearly lose her life because of a trap set by someone else, the anger that had been building up all afternoon finally found an outlet.

"Do you even know what you've done? How could you make such a basic mistake?"

The ward was so quiet that only the whirring of the air conditioner vents could be heard.

Lin Xingran stood at the foot of the bed, subconsciously shrugging her shoulders. Lin Ying's fingers were still clutching her second sister's sleeve, her knuckles slightly white.

Su Wanqing looked at her eldest daughter, her lips moved, but she did not go over and hug her daughter as usual.

She knew this time was different. This wasn't just about one daughter making a mistake; it almost jeopardized the entire Lin family.

Lin Yumin raised her head, her dark brown eyes slightly red.

She looked at her father, her voice trembling slightly, and said, "I'm sorry, Father. It's my fault. I shouldn't have been so easily fooled."

She took a deep breath and continued, "I am willing to accept family discipline—and to be removed from my position as president of the school's student council."

Lin Xingran unconsciously patted the railing at the foot of the bed.

She looked at Lin Yumin, her mouth slightly open, clearly not expecting her older sister to say such a thing so calmly.

Remove the student council president? That was a position that Lin Yumin had been fighting for since the first day of school, and for three consecutive years no one had been able to take from her.

She is now willing to hand it over.

Lin Xingran wanted to say something, but she found herself unable to find the right words.

She simply withdrew the hand that had been slapping the railing and finally put it in her pocket.

Ye Yang glanced at Lin Yumin's clenched fists and her expression, which was trying hard to remain calm but whose eyes were already red.

"Oh dear—that..."

He paused for a moment, and all eyes turned to him.

He scratched the back of his head, turned his gaze to Lin Yuanshan, and tentatively called out, somewhat nervously, "Dad."

Lin Yuanshan's body stiffened slightly.

He looked at the boy in front of him, whom he had only recognized less than two days ago, and raised his eyebrows slightly.

Since Ye Yang returned, he has never called him "Dad" on his own.

The time in the car, he called him "General Lin," but at the police station, he didn't even bother with the title. After returning home, he always used his eyes and gestures instead, never using the word.

"What did you call me?"

"Dad," Ye Yang said again, this time his voice was a little louder than before, but he was still a little unaccustomed to it, and the tips of his ears turned slightly red after he finished speaking.

He coughed and quickly steered the conversation back to Lin Yumin, "Don't be angry with your older sister. She's a victim too, and she knows she was wrong."

Lin Yuanshan looked at Ye Yang and remained silent for two seconds. Then he sighed and continued, "She should be clear about her identity, and know what she should and shouldn't do in her position."

"Yes, Father," Lin Yumin's voice came from beside the bed. "I have brought shame upon the Lin family. I failed to see through Shen Yunzhou's true colors."

"He always appears when I'm at my most difficult and helpless, and he always knows exactly what I'm thinking, which makes me lower my guard and gives him an opportunity. I should have realized from the beginning that he knows me too well, like he did his homework."

Lin Yuanshan sighed again, feeling disappointed, then turned and walked to the window, his back to everyone in the ward.

His back cast a long shadow in the sunlight.

Su Wanqing stood up from the chair next to her husband, walked over to him, and gently placed her hand on his arm.

She didn't plead for her daughter as she usually did, nor did she try to smooth things over with her usual gentle tone.

She just stood there, looking at her eldest daughter with a complicated expression. Her lips moved, but in the end, she said nothing.

Ye Yang looked at everyone, then at his eldest sister's clenched fist, and suddenly took half a step forward.

He stood by the bed, his hands resting on the bed railing, tilting his head slightly as he looked at Lin Yumin.

"I think everyone is right," Ye Yang said.

Lin Xingran suddenly turned to look at him, and Lin Ying also looked up at him, her fingers unconsciously tightening around her second sister's sleeve.

Ye Yang continued unhurriedly, "As someone everyone admires, it's true that you shouldn't make mistakes. But as a human being, it's hard not to make mistakes, isn't it?"

The ward fell silent. Lin Yuanshan turned his head slightly to the side by the window, his gaze shifting from outside back to inside.

Su Wanqing also looked up at Ye Yang, her eyes filled with complex emotions.

Ye Yang didn't stop; he scratched his cheek, as if trying to organize his thoughts.

"I am well aware of everyone's expectations of my eldest sister. She is the pride of the Lin family, and she cannot make mistakes, because if she does, everyone will be disappointed. So when my eldest sister makes a mistake, people often criticize her for not making such a basic error."

He paused, turned to look at Lin Xingran and Lin Ying, then at his parents by the window, "But my eldest sister is indeed a victim, isn't she? She didn't go to Shen Yunzhou on her own; Shen Yunzhou approached her on his own initiative."

"He did his homework, he planned every step, and he took advantage of her most vulnerable moment. Anyone else in that situation might not have been able to see through him."

As he spoke, he turned back to look at Lin Yumin.

Lin Yumin was looking up at him, something flickering in her deep brown eyes.

"Although my eldest sister is very strong, doesn't this incident also show that she does have shortcomings in some areas? For example—in matters of the heart. Right, eldest sister?"

Lin Yumin didn't speak, but her clenched fist loosened slightly.

Ye Yang pulled his hand away from the bed railing, then put it in his pocket, and said in a light tone:

"So it's okay. Everyone makes mistakes. When I was little, I often made a lot of mistakes too. Aunt Zhang would always give me a piece of candy after scolding me. She said that making mistakes is not about being scolded, but about remembering the lesson and growing into a better person."

He looked down at Lin Yumin, and his dimples reappeared on his face.

"I believe that you, my older sister, will eventually become that kind of person too. So, older sister, you don't need to be afraid of making mistakes, because you are also a human being with flesh and blood. The important thing is what we do next, right, older sister?"

Lin Yumin's lips trembled slightly. She looked up at Ye Yang, her eyes already brimming with tears, but she stubbornly refused to let them fall.

She never sheds tears on the battlefield, never complains of pain on the training field, and never frowns when knocked down by her opponent on the national competition stage.

But at this moment, a younger brother she had just recognized less than two days ago stood in front of her bed and said, "You are also a person with flesh and blood."

The wall she had built over so many years had a small brick pried open in that instant.

Lin Xingran stood at the foot of the bed, looking at Ye Yang and then at her eldest sister, and said incredulously, "I never expected you could say such philosophical things."

Ye Yang turned to look at her and blinked.

"What philosophy? I'm just saying what I'm thinking."

He turned to look at Lin Yumin again, "But the most urgent task now is to remove the Gu poison from my eldest sister's body. I can only suppress this Gu poison; acupuncture can only temporarily seal the Gu worms to prevent them from running around, and cannot completely cure it."

"Although Shen Yunzhou is dead, he left behind a lot of mess. The curse he cast on my eldest sister is still there, as are the curses he cast on the other victims. These are all things that need to be dealt with one by one."

Lin Yuanshan turned around from the window, the gloom on his face having mostly dissipated.

He is, after all, a father. When a father sees his child explaining things so well and seeing the urgency of the matter so clearly, even the strongest anger will subside.

"That's right, that's the most crucial point."

Su Wanqing released her husband's arm, walked to the bedside, looked down at the few silver needles still trembling slightly on the back of her eldest daughter's neck, and said with some worry:

"But the doctor at the hospital said that the Gu worm is clinging tightly to the back of Yu Mian's neck, and it can even move."

"I just took an X-ray. It keeps changing position every now and then, moving from the back of the neck to the spine, and then from the spine to the shoulder blade, as if it's hiding from something."

"Surgery would be too risky. What if it suddenly moves while the doctor is making the incision and the scalpel hits the aorta?"

Ye Yang smiled and said in a relaxed tone, "It's alright, my master can handle it."

Everyone in the ward simultaneously focused their attention on Ye Yang.

Lin Xingran's booming voice rang out in the quiet hospital room: "You still have a master?!"

She took two steps from the foot of the bed to Ye Yang, looked up at him, and asked with a tone full of curiosity:

"A tennis coach? An acupuncturist? Or that big shot who taught you to transform? Is that ring-wearing grandpa I mentioned this morning your transformation master? I knew I wasn't wrong!"

Ye Yang took a half step back under her gaze, waving his hands in front of his chest. "He's not some ring grandpa, just an ordinary old doctor. He's a bit eccentric, but his medical skills are really good."

Lin Xingran was about to press for more information when Lin Yuanshan coughed lightly, stopping her. He looked at Ye Yang and asked, "Can your master cure this kind of Gu poison?"
