Am I a Kamen Rider or the real young master who was switched at birth?
Chapter 30 The Ghost Bee Brothers
(No seats available. The author has an exam later, so I'll update this chapter now and continue this afternoon (╥_╥))
When Long Aotian came out of the braised chicken restaurant, the lead dancer, a chicken wearing black overalls, was just starting to sing the chorus when it bumped into a companion who had lost its footing.
The wind chimes were still tinkling on the door frame when Long Aotian had already taken to the air.
He lightly touched the bluestone slab in front of the threshold with the sole of his foot, and his whole body rose straight up as if supported by some force.
As he leaped over the low eaves on both sides of the alley, he used his toes to gain leverage on the wall, then spun halfway in the air before landing steadily on the rooftop.
He lightly touched the roof ridge with his feet again, and his whole body was lifted into the air once more.
He leaped over several clotheslines and a few tabby cats sunbathing on the rooftops, and glided lightly toward a small, open square in the distance.
His long, black hair stretched into a straight line behind him, and the hem of his white shirt was billowing in the wind, forming a fluffy arc behind him.
On the ground, Ma Rong and Ma Zhan exchanged a glance.
Ma Rong's jaw tightened, and several veins bulged on the hand holding the axe.
They chased for almost three minutes without even touching the hem of the other's clothes, which was an insult to the bounty hunters who called themselves the "Ghost Bee Brothers".
"Chase."
Ma Rong made the first move. As he ran at full speed, he suddenly swung his right arm forward, and the short-handled axe flew out of his hand.
The axe spun rapidly in the air, and a layer of scorching red light suddenly appeared on the blade.
The temperature of the axe blade rose sharply, and the entire axe, like a piece of iron just taken out of a furnace, left a dark red trail in the air.
The axe spun as it cleaved toward Long Aotian's back, the sound of it cutting through the air sharp and piercing.
Long Aotian didn't turn around. He flipped over in mid-air as if he were in water, his body suddenly spinning half a circle in an incredible way.
His right leg extended with the rotation, and his heel struck the side of the axe precisely.
The axe was kicked and its spin was changed, flying back at an even faster speed than when it came.
Ma Rong reached out and caught the axe. The axe handle struck his palm with a dull thud, and his arm was jolted backward, his hand feeling slightly numb.
Ma Zhan activated Ghost Strike the instant his brother threw the axe.
He darted left and right as he ran, sometimes appearing at the base of the wall on the left side of the alley, and sometimes flashing to the clothesline on the right side.
When he burst out from behind Ma Rong, he pushed off the ground with his feet and leaped high into the air like an arrow.
He swung his short-handled axe in an arc through the air, the blade pointing directly at Long Aotian's chest.
Long Aotian had just landed in the very center of the roof ridge of a tiled house when Ma Zhan's axe came crashing down, so fast that the air around the axe blade was buzzing.
Long Aotian spread his arms naturally, leaned his body back, and performed a perfectly executed backflip.
His body traced a graceful arc in the air, then he gently pushed off the roof ridge with both hands, flipping himself to the other side of the tiled house.
Ma Zhan's axe struck the spot where he had just been standing, shattering several tiles.
Debris flew everywhere, and several pieces of tile slid off the eaves, twirled several times in the air, and then crashed onto the alley floor with a clatter.
In the alley, several children, around seven or eight years old, were squatting on the ground playing marbles.
The little boy who had just spun the stone ball with one hand was now lying on the ground, aiming at a blue marble and muttering to himself, calculating the angle.
Just then, a piece of broken tile fell from the sky and hit the back of his head.
The little boy looked up and scratched the back of his head, looking bewildered.
He looked around, then looked down at the broken tile on the ground, and then looked up at the two people on the roof.
On the rooftop, Long Aotian stood on the other side of the ridge, looking down with an apologetic expression.
Standing beside them was a strange man holding an axe, whose pupils glowed with a dark yellow light.
The little boy stuffed the marbles into his pocket, turned around, and shouted towards the chess stall deep in the alley, "Uncle Li! Long Aotian tore down your tiled house again!"
Over at the chess stall, Grandpa Li was holding a black piece, hovering it in mid-air, preparing to place it in a checkmate position.
He heard the shout and his finger stopped in mid-air.
The black piece hovered in its original position, trembling slightly, and the old men watching the game all looked up at the same time.
Grandpa Li slowly turned his head, squinted, and glanced in the direction of his own tiled house.
He saw a strange man with an axe standing on the roof, and then he saw the hole that had been cut into his own roof. He then put down the chess piece in his hand.
He placed the fan next to the chessboard, then spread his right hand and gently grasped the ground.
A fist-sized pebble by the roadside trembled a few times, then detached from the ground and hovered a few centimeters below his palm.
With a slight bend of his fingers, the stone began to spin rapidly, emitting a low hum.
Then he flicked his finger in the direction of the horse battle and uttered a single word: "Go."
The stone shot through the air and disappeared.
It flew so fast that everyone in the alley only saw a gray-white afterimage before the stone struck Ma Zhan precisely on the back.
The impact produced an extremely dull bang, and Ma Zhan was thrown off the roof by the enormous force of the impact.
His body traced an arc through the air, then flew over several alleys, disappearing behind a house after flying out of the neighborhood.
Several seconds later, a dull thud of a heavy object falling to the ground was heard in the distance.
Grandpa Li picked up his fan again, slowly fanned himself twice, and then his gaze returned to the chessboard.
He picked up the black piece that was still hanging in mid-air and placed it steadily in the center of the chessboard. Then, without looking up, he said to the roof, "Aotian, remember to fix my roof."
Long Aotian stood on the rooftop, clasped his hands in a fist salute, bowed slightly, and said respectfully, "Yes."
Then, with a light step, he leaped gracefully off the roof.
He stepped onto several clotheslines and the branches of an old locust tree, and sped off in the direction Ma Zhan had flown.
On the ground, Ma Rong no longer cared about Long Aotian.
His younger brother was thrown dozens of meters by a stone thrown by an old man playing chess. The absurdity of the incident caused his brain to freeze for a fraction of a second.
But he quickly regained his senses, gritted his teeth, and sped off towards where his brother had fallen, unleashing his Rock Breath as he ran.
His breathing rate dropped sharply, his heartbeat slowed, his muscles entered a semi-dormant state, and a layer of grayish-white stone patterns began to appear on his skin.
In an instant, his body became as hard as rock, and the bluestone slab was crushed to pieces by his feet.
As he ran past the tofu stall, his shoulder bumped into the edge of the stall.
The moment Ma Rong's shoulder slammed into it, the entire door panel was overturned.
The tofu blocks displayed on the stall flew up, tumbled several times in the air, and then crashed to the ground with a clatter.
The iron bucket containing soy milk was also knocked over, and the milky white soy milk spilled all over the ground, flowing into the roadside drainage ditch through the gaps in the bluestone slabs.
The tofu lady was holding a bowl of freshly cooked tofu pudding, and was about to add chili oil to it.
The moment her stall was overturned, the tofu pudding in her hand still wobbled twice in the bowl.
She placed the bowl on the small table beside her, then stood up, took a deep breath, and shouted in the direction Ma Rong had rushed off to, "Hey!!!"
Her voice was so loud that it shook the windows of the entire alley.
Several old men who were playing chess simultaneously covered their ears.
The little boy who had shouted earlier covered his ears and yelled to his companion, "The auntie is going all out again."
Several young people eating kebabs by the roadside were so startled by the shout that they almost dropped their kebabs.
"Are you blind?! Can't you see this huge stall?! Do you even know how long it takes to soak soybeans?! How long it takes to grind tofu?! You owe me money!!!"
Her voice echoed back and forth throughout the alley several times.
Ma Rong didn't even turn his head; he rushed straight out of the alley.
In the small square, Ma Zhan crawled out of a pile of broken bricks while rubbing his back.
His back was burning with pain; there was a large hole in the back of his black jacket, revealing the red and swollen skin underneath.
When Ma Rong rushed out of the alley, he saw his younger brother struggling to get up from the pile of bricks.
He ran to Ma Zhan's side, reached out his hand, and swiftly pulled him up.
As Ma Zhan used the momentum to stand up, he didn't stop talking: "Brother—who was that old man just now—"
Ma Rong interrupted him, saying, "Don't ask. Kill Long Aotian first."
Ma Zhan nodded, then flipped over and jumped onto Ma Rong's shoulder.
He placed his feet on his brother's shoulder muscles, leaned forward slightly, and squatted steadily on his brother's broad shoulders.
He gripped the two short-handled axes tightly again, the dark yellow light in his pupils brightened once more, and he emitted a low buzzing sound.
Long Aotian landed lightly in the center of the square. He put one hand behind his back and raised the other hand, making a "stop" gesture.
"You two—who are you? Aotian has no grudge against you, why do you want to kill me?"
Ma Rong and Ma Zhan exchanged a glance.
Ma Zhan raised his eyebrows slightly, and Ma Rong nodded his chin slightly.
Then Ma Rong planted his axe on the ground, leaned forward slightly, and said in an extremely solemn tone, "Since you have asked so sincerely..."
Ma Zhan stood on his shoulders, crossed his two axes in front of his chest, and replied in a tone even more flamboyant than his brother's: "Then we'll tell you."
Ma Rong continued in a low voice, "We are—feared by everyone."
Ma Zhan looked down at Long Aotian from his brother's shoulder and replied in a loud voice, "Flowers fall when flowers see them."
Then the two of them simultaneously strike a symmetrical pose.
The older brother raises his right arm and holds the axe horizontally in front of his chest, while the younger brother raises his left arm and holds the axe vertically beside his face. The two bodies, one tall and one short, form a perfect human figure composition.
"Brother Ghost Bee! My name is Ma Rong." Ma Rong said his name in a deep voice.
"My name is Ma Zhan." Ma Zhan pointed his axe at Long Aotian.
Long Aotian stood still, narrowing his eyes. He tilted his head, and his long, black hair slid down to his shoulder as he did so.
He thought about it seriously for a moment, then looked up and said in a very sincere tone, "Ma Rong? Ma Zhan? Ghost Bee Brothers? Never heard of them."
Ma Rong's lips twitched, and the knuckles of the hand holding the axe turned slightly white.
Ma Zhan stood on his shoulders, his teeth grinding together.
"Enough with the nonsense! Long Aotian—prepare to die!!!"
