Chapter 162 Talk my ass! Eat my C4!
Deep within the mansion.
Inside a fairly intact tea room.
The middle-aged woman led Lin Shen through the last corridor and stopped in front of a paper door.
She turned slightly to the side and bowed her head respectfully, saying, "Mr. Lin, the head of the family is waiting for you inside."
Lin Shen glanced at her, smiled, and reached out to open the paper door.
An old man was sitting in the tea room.
The old man raised his head, forcing a calm expression on his face, and spoke in a steady tone: "Mr. Lin, you've arrived. I think we can sit down and have a good talk."
Lin Shen didn't go inside; he just stood outside the threshold, reached into his pocket, and pulled out a piece of C4 explosive.
"Talk my ass!" He laughed and tossed the C4 into the center of the tea room. "Take one of my C4s!"
The old man's pupils constricted sharply, and his voice changed tone: "You bastard!!"
Before he could finish speaking, BOOM—!!!
The first explosion rang out inside the tea room, tearing the paper door to shreds with the shockwave, snapping the wooden beams in the flames, and blowing off a large number of roof tiles.
The old man's voice was completely swallowed up by the explosion; he didn't even have time to let out a complete scream.
Lin Shen had already taken several steps back the instant of the explosion, standing behind the corner of the corridor, covering his ears with both hands.
After the loud noise subsided, he lowered his hands and patted the dust off his clothes.
The beautiful woman next to her was so frightened that she stood there dumbfounded, her legs went weak, and she sat down on the ground, completely stunned.
An angry roar came from the end of the corridor: "Baka! He blew up the patriarch!!"
Immediately afterwards, footsteps came from all directions, and at least seven or eight people rushed out from the remaining corridors and courtyards, carrying all sorts of weapons.
One of the men, who appeared to be a low-ranking leader, rushed to the front and shouted, "Attack! Attack! He's out of C4! He only has that one piece!!"
Lin Shen looked at the group of people rushing towards him and smiled.
He reached into his pocket again and pulled out a second piece of C4. "What are you thinking? I'll give you as much as you want."
boom--
The second explosion rang out in the middle of the corridor, and the first few people were thrown away by the shockwave.
boom--
The third explosion rang out at the entrance to the courtyard on the left, sending the two men in black who were preparing to flank from the side into the air.
Boom boom boom—
For the next few minutes, the explosions seemed endless, echoing one after another in the already battered mansion.
Lin Shen threw out C4 from his pocket one piece at a time, without aiming or hesitating. He simply walked to a position where he could see the enemy and then detonated the explosives.
He had no interest in exchanging more words with these people, nor was he interested in knowing what the patriarch, whose name he hadn't yet revealed, wanted to talk to him about.
Intrigue, deception, haggling...
He never liked these things.
It's always most reassuring to kill all the enemies.
A few minutes later, the explosions stopped.
The interior of the mansion has been reduced to ruins.
The once elegant Japanese garden is gone, replaced by broken beams and pillars, shattered tiles, and the remains of overturned tatami mats. The burning wood crackles, and the air is filled with the smell of gunpowder and burnt metal.
Flames leaped across several ruined building rubble, their orange glow reflecting on the blackened walls, as smoke slowly rose.
Lin Shen stood in the center of the messy courtyard and walked around.
His gaze swept carefully over every pile of rubble and every body lying on the ground, and only after confirming that no one was still breathing did he nod in satisfaction.
Of course, after killing someone, he can't just walk away and get away with it.
So many people were killed, the ground was littered with shell casings, explosive residue, corpses, and blood...
If we just leave him here and ignore him, the police will be able to use this evidence to identify him from among the tens of millions of people in Tokyo tomorrow.
The phrase "murder and arson" tells you very clearly what to do after committing murder!
Lin took a deep breath of the air, which smelled of burning, and then took out an incendiary bomb from his system space.
Pull out the safety pin and throw it into the nearest half-collapsed house.
The orange-red flames suddenly shot up and quickly spread to the wooden beams and pillars.
He took out another one and tossed it to the other end of the corridor.
One more.
One more.
As he walked toward the main gate, he casually tossed incendiary bombs at every piece of building debris he passed, like scattering seeds.
The flames quickly spread behind him, and the fire began to spread outward from the depths of the mansion, with thick smoke billowing into the evening sky.
When he reached the gate, the area behind him had already turned into a sea of fire.
………………
In the evening, Rum finally finished all the messy things he had been doing.
He sat down on the sofa in the study, loosened the buttons on his collar, and poured himself a glass of whiskey.
He picked up the glass, took a sip, leaned back on the sofa, and closed his eyes for a while.
The study was quiet, with the firewood in the fireplace crackling softly.
He opened his eyes, as if suddenly remembering something, turned his head to look at the assistant standing in the corner of the study, and asked, "By the way, how's the situation with Lin Shen?"
The assistant's expression stiffened slightly upon hearing the question.
That stiffness was brief, almost instantaneous, but Rum still managed to capture it.
The assistant lowered his head slightly and replied in a tone that tried his best to remain calm, "He himself... is unharmed."
Rum was not surprised by this answer.
He picked up his glass, took another sip, and nodded: "Just as I expected."
Then he asked, "What about the Kirishima family? What were their losses?"
The assistant's expression became very subtle at that moment.
That expression of wanting to say something but not knowing how to express it lingered on his face for several seconds.
He was silent for a moment, then finally managed to utter only two words: "It's gone."
Rum's hand, holding the wine glass, froze in mid-air.
He turned to look at the assistant, his brow furrowed slightly, and his tone clearly showed incomprehension: "What do you mean by 'gone'?"
The assistant unconsciously swallowed.
He could feel his throat getting dry, but he tried to keep his voice steady: "It's... literally gone."
"The Kirishima family, not a single member survived. They were all... wiped out by him."
Rum stopped drinking from his glass completely.
He sat on the sofa, staring intently at the fireplace in front of him, and remained silent for a long while.
After about ten seconds, he finally spoke: "They were wiped out by that one person?"
He turned to look at his assistant, the confusion in his eyes genuine. "How is this possible?"
The assistant quickly added, "We also thought it was unlikely. So we sent someone to investigate the scene afterwards."
He flipped through the notebook in his hand, speaking a little faster than usual, "Based on the traces left at the scene, Lin Shen used a large number of heavy weapons in this operation."
"Including but not limited to Gatling guns, grenade launchers, C4 explosives, and some other explosives whose models we cannot yet identify."
"But he only had one pistol on him when he entered the mansion."
The assistant's tone became cautious. "So we suspect that someone secretly provided him with these weapons."
"The goal might be to use him to completely dismantle the Kirishima family."
"It cannot be ruled out that he had other accomplices, but because the fire destroyed most of the traces, we were unable to find any more useful clues."
After hearing these words, Rum did not say anything more.
He leaned back on the sofa, holding a wine glass in his hand, his gaze fixed on the flickering flames in the fireplace, and remained silent for a long while.
His expression was calm, but only he knew the emotional turmoil beneath that calm.
After a long while, he finally let out a soft sigh.
There was no anger, no regret, just a sigh, then he picked up the glass of whiskey and slowly finished it.
