Chapter 163 Shiho Miyano's Worries
The black Porsche slowly came to a stop in front of the 221B coffee shop.
There was a moment of silence in the car. Shiho Miyano sat in the back seat and did not rush to get out.
She turned to look at Mingmei sitting beside her, hesitated for a moment, and then spoke up: "Sister, why don't you come stay with me for a few days?"
"It's also a way to lay low for a while. You saw it today, that scene was no small matter."
"What if any further trouble comes knocking..."
She paused here, her tone tinged with helplessness, "I don't know what President Lin was thinking... He just blew up the whole house."
Upon hearing this, Akemi chuckled softly, shook her head, and said gently but firmly, "No need, Shiho."
"I'm fine staying in the coffee shop; there's no danger."
Shiho Miyano opened her mouth, wanting to say something more to persuade her.
But Akemi had already reached out and pushed open the car door, stepping out with one leg.
She stood outside the car door, bent down, and looked at Shiho Miyano sitting inside through the open door, her smile carrying a gentleness unique to older sisters:
"Shiho, you seem pretty tired lately. If you have time, you can come over and sit here more often. I'll make you some coffee."
Shiho Miyano originally wanted to say that she was very busy lately and had a lot of experimental data to process at the lab, so she didn't have much time to come over.
But she opened her mouth, then swallowed the words back.
She thought of Lin Shen, that restless fellow.
If I don't come and check on things regularly, who knows if that person will secretly bring his sister and pull off an even bigger scheme without me knowing?
Just like this time, they kicked someone out simply because Tequila had a foul mouth.
Isn't that insane?
For an assassin, having a foul mouth isn't such an intolerable flaw, right?
She paused for two seconds, then changed her mind: "Okay. No problem."
She looked at Akemi intently. "If anyone suspicious appears near the coffee shop, call me immediately."
Akemi nodded: "Yes, I will."
She straightened up and closed the car door behind her.
Shiho Miyano sat in the car, watching through the window as her sister turned and pushed open the glass door of the coffee shop, walking inside.
Only after the glass door closed behind her did she look away and say to the driver in the front seat, "Let's go."
The car started up again and smoothly drove away from the street.
Shiho Miyano leaned back in her chair, took out her phone, and opened the latest news feed.
Just as she expected.
Some astute news outlets have already dispatched helicopters to broadcast live from the mansion.
She clicked on the video, and a memorable image appeared on her phone screen:
The once elegant and quiet traditional Japanese mansion has now been engulfed by a raging fire, with nearly a quarter of its area destroyed.
The orange-red flames were particularly dazzling against the night sky, and thick smoke billowed and surged toward the horizon. Even through the phone screen, one could feel the intense heat emanating from them.
Her brow furrowed slightly.
It wasn't because the fire was too big, but because of something else.
She remembers clearly that the first explosion had just occurred when she left.
By the time I drove to the coffee shop, almost twenty minutes had passed.
However, the screen on the phone showed that the fire department had still not arrived at the scene.
She was very familiar with the organization's methods.
This is definitely not because the fire department was slow to respond; it's because someone stopped the fire truck on the road.
Maybe it was a car accident, maybe it was a traffic jam...
In short, the organization also wanted to use this fire to burn away all the shady things.
Destroy the body and cover up the evidence; that will solve everything.
Shiho Miyano turned off her phone screen and placed it on the chair next to her.
She turned to look out the car window and saw a police car with its siren blaring speeding past in the opposite lane, heading towards the fire.
She leaned back in her seat, her gaze fixed on the streetlights rushing past the window, but her mind was far from at peace.
Shiho Miyano is no longer worried about whether Lin Shen can protect her sister.
She had already witnessed that guy's abilities firsthand; he was more than capable of protecting someone.
But the problem is, that guy is way too arrogant.
She's now starting to worry that Lin Shen's flamboyant style might one day not only fail to protect her sister, but also drag her into even bigger trouble.
Thinking of this, Shiho Miyano couldn't help but rub her temples.
She felt her head starting to ache.
She hadn't known Lin Shen for long and wasn't sure if he was easy to talk to.
But in any case, she had to find an opportunity to talk to him.
At least make him understand that some things shouldn't be done too far.
………………
Meanwhile, after Akemi returned to the coffee shop and hung up her coat, her phone rang.
She glanced down at the screen; it was a call from Lin Shen.
She answered the phone, listened for about ten seconds, then simply said, "Okay, I'll be right there," hung up, and quickly walked towards the lounge.
She rummaged through the closet for a clean change of clothes, packed them in a bag, grabbed her car keys, pushed open the back door of the coffee shop, and strode out.
She drove to a small park a few blocks away from the scene of the incident.
She parked her car on the side of the road, got out, picked up a paper bag, and quickly walked into the public restroom in the corner of the park.
The cubicle door opened a crack, an arm reached out and took the paper bag, and then the door closed again.
The rustling sound of changing clothes could be heard from the cubicle.
The cubicle door opened again, and Lin Shen walked out.
He had changed into a clean set of clothes that fit perfectly, and he looked much more refreshed.
He was carrying the tattered old clothes in his hand, crumpled them into a ball and tucked them under his arm. Instead of throwing them in the trash can, he planned to take them away and dispose of them.
He walked out of the public restroom, opened the passenger door, sat down, and while fastening his seatbelt, said in a sarcastic tone:
"Sigh, I originally just wanted to flag down a passing car and borrow a set of clothes from the driver."
"After searching for a long time, we couldn't find a single car."
"Isn't this street way too remote?"
Mingmei started the car and laughed as she turned the steering wheel:
"Mr. Lin, didn't you yourself say that the fighting over there was so bad that any normal person would have taken a detour. What car would dare to drive this way?"
Lin Shen had no way to refute it.
He clicked his tongue, leaned back in his seat, and rubbed his stomach. "Never mind that, I'm hungry. What are we having for lunch?"
Mingmei gripped the steering wheel, her gaze fixed ahead, a slight smile playing on her lips: "Mr. Lin seems to have been quite active today, let's go get something good to eat."
"I'll treat you to Wagyu beef."
Upon hearing this suggestion, Lin Shen immediately perked up and sat up straight as if by reflex: "Let's go! Let's go eat Wagyu beef!"
