Chapter 212 Heading to Izu, Sonoko Invites Yukiko

Conan and Yukiko sat and chatted in the corridor for almost an hour.

Conan recounted, in a roundabout way, everything that had happened between him and Lin Shen since they first met.

Of course, he skipped over the details that were too gory or outrageous.

After all, even though his mother is a worldly celebrity, she can't accept information like "someone is bombing a department store with an RPG" every night.

Yukiko listened with great interest, her eyes growing brighter and brighter, as if she had discovered some interesting toy, repeatedly saying, "And then?" "Really?" "No way."

Conan's mouth got a little dry towards the end.

Fortunately, at that moment, the door to the sterile room finally opened.

Asai Narumi came out, carrying a tray with a bloodstained bullet on it.

She removed her mask, a faint smile on her face, and said calmly, "The surgery went smoothly, the bullet has been completely removed, and the patient is now in stable condition."

Conan and Yukiko both breathed a sigh of relief, and said almost in unison, "Thank you, doctor."

Asai Narumi placed the tray down and waved her hand gently: "You're welcome."

Yukiko quickly walked in and saw Yusaku Kudo leaning against the hospital bed.

His left shoulder was wrapped in thick bandages, and although his face was still a little pale, he looked much better than before.

She went over and sat on the edge of the bed, reaching out to touch his forehead with a touch of heartache: "How are you? Does it still hurt?"

Yusaku Kudo smiled, though the smile was somewhat forced, his tone had regained some of its usual composure:

"Much better. Now I just need to rest quietly for a while."

Conan stood at the door, looked around, and then said in a serious tone, "Dad, just in case, you should stay here for a few days."

"It would be troublesome if the wound became infected. With Dr. Asai here, it's convenient to change dressings and gauze."

Yusaku Kudo thought about it and realized that it wasn't realistic to expect Yukiko to change his dressings and gauze.

He nodded: "Well, that's fine. If I go home, it would be difficult to explain if someone comes to visit."

Asai Narumi followed behind and naturally took over the conversation: "No problem. I have a spare guest room here. The sheets and blankets are clean, so staying for a few days is no problem at all."

Conan bowed deeply to Asai Narumi and said, "Dr. Asai, thank you so much."

Asai Narumi waved his hand, his smile gentle: "It's nothing, don't worry about it."

Afterwards, Yukiko paid the medical bill, gave Yusaku Kudo a few more instructions, and then left the clinic with Conan.

The next morning, Conan and Yukiko brought Yusaku Kudo a change of clothes, a laptop, and some other daily necessities.

Yukiko stood by the bed and kept nagging for a long time, repeating the same old things like "You need to take care of yourself" and "Don't start working as soon as you open your notebook."

Yusaku Kudo smiled and agreed. Conan stood beside them, watching the two of them, and finally felt a little more at ease.

Then, Yukiko drove Conan to Cafe 221B.

Halfway there, Conan turned around and looked at Yukiko with a serious expression, his tone carrying a mature and composed seriousness:

"Mom, when we get to the coffee shop, don't say anything out of line, okay? Curb your curiosity!"

Yukiko, gripping the steering wheel, replied with a smile without turning her head, "I know, I know. My son is an adult now, so I'll listen to whatever he says."

She readily agreed verbally, but the glint in her eyes was impossible to hide.

She was so curious that her son, who had an off-the-charts IQ, said "this person is dangerous." Just what kind of person was this President Lin?

The car stopped in front of the 221B coffee shop.

Just as Conan unbuckled his seatbelt, he heard a girl's delighted voice beside him: "Yukiko-neechan!"

He turned his head and saw a black van parked at the door.

Sonoko jumped out of the car, ran over dramatically, opened her arms, and hugged Yukiko, who had just gotten out of the car, her voice full of joy at the reunion:

"Yukiko-neechan! Long time no see!! I missed you so much!"

Yukiko immediately flashed the same bright smile and opened her arms to hug her back: "Sonoko, it's been a long time! You've gotten even more beautiful."

Sonoko loosened her arms and looked her up and down with a grin: "Really? But I think you look even prettier, Yukiko-neechan!"

Yukiko chuckled, "Your words are like honey."

Conan stood to the side, watching the two of them flattering each other, and couldn't help but mentally rant:

Sonoko, how could she say something like that?! She's absolutely shameless!

And my mom too, doesn't she realize she's getting old? She gets so happy just from a few flattering words that she loses all sense of direction!

After finally waiting for the two to finish their pleasantries, Sonoko noticed Conan standing beside her and blinked curiously.

"Huh? Conan? Ran told me that your mom already picked you up, didn't she?"

Conan quickly chimed in, "It was just a meal. My mom is too busy with work to take care of me, so I'll stay at the Mouri Detective Agency."

Yukiko added at the opportune moment, "Yes, Fumiyo is too busy with work and simply doesn't have the energy to take care of the child."

"She saw that Mr. Mori was educating Conan very well, and she was relieved, so she let him stay there."

Sonoko nodded knowingly, without giving it much thought.

Conan quickly changed the subject, looking at the van parked to the side that was clearly ready to leave, and asked curiously:

"Sonoko-neechan, where are you all going?"

When Sonoko mentioned this, she became very excited and said with great enthusiasm:

"I'm planning to spend the weekend in Izu with President Lin and Xiaolan! Sunshine! Beaches! Waves!"

As she was talking, her eyes suddenly lit up, and she grabbed Yukiko's hand. "That's right! Yukiko-neechan, do you want to come along too?"

Yukiko's eyes widened in surprise: "Huh? I can go too?"

Sonoko nodded vigorously: "Of course! The more people, the more lively it will be!"

Yukiko excitedly hugged Sonoko tightly: "Oh, Sonoko, I knew I hadn't spoiled you for nothing!"

"I'll go home and pack my things now, it'll only take forty minutes! Just forty minutes! I'll meet you all there then!"

Sonoko gave a big OK sign and said with a smile, "No problem! We'll wait for you!"

Yukiko acted immediately, quickly got into the car, stepped on the gas, and drove off towards her home, without even stepping inside the coffee shop.

She has probably completely forgotten what her original purpose for coming here today was.

Conan stood there, watching the taillights of the departing car, then glanced at the closed doors of the coffee shop, and couldn't help but sigh deeply.

He had originally wanted his mother to formally meet Lin Shen to fulfill his promise.

Now look what happened, the whole plan has been disrupted.

His adoptive mother was still the same as always, only interested in things for a short time, running away without a second thought, completely unreliable.

Sigh, I really can't expect her to do anything productive.

Conan sighed again, then pushed open the door of the coffee shop and went inside alone.
