Chapter 213 Tomoko Suzuki's Conversation with the CIA

The van drove on the highway for almost three hours before finally emerging from the hustle and bustle of Tokyo and turning onto the picturesque mountain road along the Izu coast.

Lin Shen and Conan were sitting side by side in front of them.

Behind them are three women: Sonoko, Ran, and Yukiko.

They kept talking from the moment they got on the bus.

They chattered about everything from their recent lives to gossip in the entertainment industry, and then from entertainment gossip to which skincare products were good. Their voices echoed throughout the entire carriage.

Lin Shen was completely uninterested in their topics.

He leaned back in his chair, glanced at Conan beside him with a playful smile, and said in a low voice:

"How about it, Conan? I told you so, carrying a gun makes all the difference when something happens."

Conan paused for a moment, then did not refute.

Facts speak louder than words.

If it weren't for that gun, he probably would have been completely fooled by his unreliable parents last night.

Then he was tied to a chair in a dilapidated house and listened to the two of them acting out some melodramatic script about "the Black Organization torturing Shinichi Kudo".

He let out a soft breath, his voice carrying a hint of helplessness and acknowledgment: "Okay...you have a point."

"If it weren't for the gun you gave me, I probably would have really been tricked by my unreliable uncle and aunt."

Hearing this, Lin Shen couldn't help but laugh: "You'll gradually come to love this feeling."

Conan shook his head, his tone carrying a firm principle: "I will only use a handgun for self-defense, and I will not use it to attack others."

Lin Shen listened without refuting, only chuckled, his tone implying that "young people are still too naive":

"Society is very complex, not as simple as you think. Many times, it's not that you can choose not to draw your gun just because you don't want to."

Conan didn't reply, but turned his head dismissively, looking at the sea rushing past the window, thinking to himself: principles are principles.

----------

The van eventually stopped in front of a huge seaside villa.

The Suzuki family villa in Izu is ridiculously large; the garden at the entrance alone is almost the size of a small park.

After the group got off the car, Yuanzi quickly and skillfully arranged the rooms.

The villa is very large with many rooms; one guest room per person is more than enough.

The maids helped carry the luggage and led everyone to their respective rooms.

Lin Shen was assigned to a room on the east side of the first floor, which Yuanzi said was so that it would be convenient for him to take a walk by the sea in the morning.

Lin Shen entered the room, put down his luggage, quickly washed his face, changed into clean clothes, and then opened the door, intending to go to the living room to meet everyone.

He walked for less than two minutes before realizing he was lost.

This villa is absolutely enormous.

The corridor turned one bend after another, and every section of the corridor looked exactly the same.

He walked for a long time, but not only did he not find the living room, he felt that he was getting further and further astray.

Lin Shen stood in front of a huge floor-to-ceiling window, looking at the unfamiliar garden outside. His lips twitched slightly, and he muttered under his breath, "I don't know why they made the villa so big... Can they even live there all of them?"

He decided to ask a maid for directions.

But just as he reached a waiting room, he suddenly stopped in his tracks; someone was talking inside.

Moreover, the content of the conversation forced him to stop.

A strange man's voice, carrying a suppressed threat and warning:

"Mrs. Suzuki, we don't need you to do anything special, we just need your cooperation." A middle-aged man's voice said.

His tone was cold and businesslike, even carrying a subtle sense of oppression.

Then, a gentle yet slightly cold female voice rang out; it was Tomoko Suzuki's voice: "Our Suzuki family and the Tomizawa family have been cooperating for many years and are already partners."

"I can't stop the CIA from targeting him, but I can't help you either."

The man paused for a moment, then lowered his voice slightly: "Mrs. Suzuki, do you know what offending the CIA means?"

Tomoko Suzuki's tone was neither humble nor arrogant, yet it carried the unique shrewdness of a businesswoman: "I also don't want to offend the Tomizawa Group and ruin the cooperative relationship between our two companies."

"So all I can guarantee is that I won't interfere with your actions."

The other person was silent for a moment, seemingly weighing whether the answer was sufficient.

After a moment, the man slowly spoke: "...Alright. Your words are enough."

He paused, a hint of warning in his voice, "Besides, you should know very well what you should and shouldn't say."

Tomoko Suzuki's voice remained calm: "Don't worry, I don't know anything and I won't say anything more."

The man said slowly, "Good that you understand."

Footsteps sounded, heading towards the door.

Without hesitation, Lin Shen silently darted to the side, disappearing into the shadows around the corner of the corridor.

The door was pushed open.

A middle-aged man in a dark suit strode out.

His steps were steady, his face was cold and hard, and he carried a sense of vigilance that one would only have if one lived in a high-pressure environment for a long time.

Lin Shen stood in the shadows, watching the man walk away before slowly emerging from the darkness.

He glanced at the man's back as he disappeared down the corridor, narrowing his eyes slightly. CIA?

Are you looking for Tomoko Suzuki?

They're going to target the Tomizawa family?

This sounds interesting!

This is way more fun than a vacation!!

As he was pondering this information, he heard the sound of high heels clicking on the floor behind him.

Suzuki Tomoko came out of the waiting room and looked up to see Lin Shen standing in the corridor.

She paused, her brow furrowing slightly, her tone tinged with wariness: "Who are you?"

Lin Shen turned around, looked at the well-maintained and composed middle-aged woman in front of him, and said calmly, "Lin Shen. Yuanzi's friend."

Suzuki Tomoko's brows relaxed the moment she heard the name, and her wary expression softened.

She smiled and nodded slowly: "So it's President Hayashi. I've heard Ayako and Sonoko mention you before."

"Last time, when Sonoko and the others were in danger in the mountains, you saved them. I haven't had a chance to thank you yet."

Lin Shen waved his hand, his tone casual: "It was nothing, Mrs. Suzuki, you don't need to be so polite."

His gaze flickered slightly, and he said casually, "Was that person... from the CIA? Do they always operate with such fanfare?"

Tomoko Suzuki paused for a moment.

She looked into Lin Shen's eyes and knew that he had heard the entire conversation she had with someone.

Lin Shen didn't play dumb or try to probe or beat around the bush. Instead, he stated directly that the other party seemed to be interested in the matter.

She thought for a moment, glanced around to make sure no one else was in the hallway, then stepped aside slightly to make way for the door to the waiting room: "This is a long story, let's go inside and talk."

Lin Shen nodded without refusing and followed her into the reception room.

The door slowly closed behind me.
