Chapter 24 Where did you pull this thing out from?

The black skeleton horse galloped through the night streets, its engine roaring like an enraged beast, bouncing back and forth on the narrow roads.

Kogoro Mouri gripped the steering wheel tightly with both hands, his palms sweaty, and his eyes wide open.

He'd driven a lot of cars in his life—old police cars, rented sedans, friends' vans—but he'd never driven anything like this!

With a tap of the accelerator, the surge of acceleration slammed his back into the seat, and the car instantly sped up to 120 km/h, nearly making him release the steering wheel in fright.

"W-what-what kind of car is this?! The accelerator is so sensitive!!" Kogoro Mouri's voice was trembling, and cold sweat was streaming down his face.

He felt like he wasn't driving a car, but riding a mad rhinoceros.

In the back seat, Lin Shen had already taken off his helmet, but his face was still covered by a mask and a baseball cap.

He leaned back in his seat, looking quite relaxed: "Detective Mouri, drive carefully. Once you've shaken off the Suzuki family's security guards, I'll let you go."

Kogoro Mouri paused for a moment, his gaze quickly sweeping across the rearview mirror: "Security? Where are the security guards?"

As soon as he finished speaking, two blinding headlights lit up in the rearview mirror.

A black BMW suddenly appeared from a side road at the side and steadily followed behind their car, maintaining a distance of about thirty meters. It neither accelerated to overtake nor slowed down to let them pass, like a stubborn leech.

Kogoro Mouri's expression changed slightly.

Although he has become a third-rate detective in recent years, he did work as a detective in the Metropolitan Police Department for a few years back then, so he can still see through this kind of tracking skills.

"Damn... there really are security guards following us! Didn't we give you all the money? Why aren't you letting them go?!"

Lin Shen chuckled, his voice tinged with a hint of teasing: "If the Suzuki family's security guards just let me go like that."

"Do you think someone else will kidnap the Suzuki family tomorrow? They need to make a show of it, to let the underworld know that the Suzuki family's money isn't easy to get."

Kogoro Mouri opened his mouth, only to find that he couldn't refute it.

He could only grit his teeth and press the accelerator harder. The black skeleton horse let out a roar, and the speed increased even further.

But the BMW was clearly no pushover either, accelerating almost simultaneously to catch up, keeping a tight distance and not widening the gap at all.

Lin Shen glanced at the rearview mirror, his tone remaining calm: "Oh, by the way, let me remind you."

"You'd better drive carefully. If they force you to stop, they won't care if you live or die."

"After all, you're not Sonoko's good friend. They care more about whether the mission can be completed than about your safety."

No sooner had he finished speaking than the black BMW suddenly accelerated from the right lane and cut in front of the Kuruma, its front end slanting towards the side of the car, attempting to force it toward the roadside guardrail.

The distance between the two vehicles instantly shrank to less than a meter, and the sound of metal scraping against metal rang out shrilly, bursting out a string of tiny sparks.

Kogoro Mouri screamed in fright and swerved the steering wheel sharply to the left. The Kuruma almost grazed the guardrail as it hurtled past, its tires screeching on the asphalt.

"Damn it! They really don't care if I live or die?" Kogoro Mouri's voice cracked.

Lin Shen's smile faded.

He calmly rolled down the car window, and a gust of cold wind rushed in, causing the brim of his hat to flutter slightly.

He pulled out his Glock, stuck his arm out the window, and fired repeatedly at the BMW that was hot on his heels.

puff!puff!puff!

The bullet hit the BMW's window, sending up a few sparks and leaving a few faint white spots.

But the glass remained completely still, without even a crack.

Through the car window, Lin Shen could even see the security guard driver's lips curl slightly, revealing a mocking smile.

Lin Shen raised an eyebrow.

Okay, bulletproof glass, right?

He casually tossed the Glock aside, then bent down and pulled an MP5 submachine gun from his system space.

He rested the gun on the windowsill, aimed it at the BMW, and pulled the trigger without hesitation.

Da da da da!

Bullets rained down, pelting the BMW's bulletproof glass.

The glass was instantly covered with countless white dots, like the surface of water after being hit by hail, and the entire glass was trembling slightly.

The security guard's expression finally changed!

Bulletproof glass is bulletproof, not immune to bullets!

It can only withstand a certain number of bullets, not this kind of continuous high-density firing.

If it keeps hitting, the glass will shatter sooner or later!

The BMW driver slammed on the brakes, the tires leaving a black rubber trail on the ground, and the car slowed down rapidly, putting distance between itself and the Skull Horse.

Lin Shen sneered, putting away his MP5 while skillfully removing the empty magazine and taking out a new magazine from his pocket and putting it in.

"Come on, weren't you pretty good at chasing people?"

But he didn't have time to fire again.

Clang!

Several bullets suddenly came from the left, hitting the Kuruma's door and making a few crisp metallic clanging sounds.

Lin Shen suddenly turned his head to look.

A second black BMW emerged from a small alley on the left and was driving alongside in the left lane.

The passenger window rolled down, and a security guard in a black suit was pointing a pistol at him and firing repeatedly!

Lin Shen immediately turned his gun around and opened fire on the BMW.

The MP5's muzzle spit out a series of flashes, and bullets clattered against the BMW's body.

But after firing a few shots, the security guard immediately retreated and hid behind the steel plate of the car. The bullets hit the car door, leaving a few bullet holes, but did not hurt him at all.

Just as Lin Shen was suppressing the car on the left, the BMW on the right, which had been forced back, came up again. The security guard in the car leaned out halfway and fired two shots at the rear wheel of the Kuruma!

Lin Shen frowned, and his anger flared up instantly.

The two vehicles, one on the left and one on the right, took turns providing cover and harassing the enemy, like two flies.

If you slap it, it flies away; if you pull your hand back, it buzzes back to you.

This feeling of being torn apart and pushed back and forth made him very unhappy.

"Damn it, this is so annoying."

He threw the MP5 player away.

This thing has a fast rate of fire at close range, but its power is insufficient; it's like tickling an armored vehicle.

Bulletproof glass, right?

Lin Shen's eyes turned cold.

He bent down and reached under the seat—it looked like he'd pulled it out from under the seat, but it was actually taken directly from the system's repository.

He picked up a black, rugged metal monster with six rotating barrels—an M134 Gatling gun.

He aimed the Gatling gun at the rear windshield of the Kuruma, the muzzle smashing through the glass and resting on the broken window frame.

A cold wind suddenly filled the entire carriage, sending a chill down Kogoro Mori's back.

He glanced at the back seat through the rearview mirror, and the instant he saw the dark, multi-barreled weapon, his pupils contracted sharply, and he nearly dropped the steering wheel: "Where did you pull that thing out from?!"

Lin Shen did not answer him.

He placed his finger on the trigger, and the Gatling gun's barrel began to slowly rotate.

Then... beep beep beep beep beep beep beep beep!

The dense gunfire, like the roar of a giant beast, exploded across the night streets, the flames spewing from the gun barrels illuminating almost half the street.

The spent cartridges clattered and fell on the back seat like raindrops, bouncing and rolling onto the floor mats, the metallic clanging creating a dense, chaotic sound, like a raging symphony.

The BMW that had just been pulled up couldn't withstand the Gatling gun fire for even three seconds before its windshield shattered into countless fragments with a crash.

The security guard inside the car screamed and collapsed onto his seat. The driver jerked the steering wheel, and the BMW veered onto the sidewalk, overturning a row of trash cans and a bicycle parked on the side of the road. Finally, it crashed into a utility pole with a loud bang, the hood popped up, and white smoke billowed out.

The other BMW slammed on its brakes in fright, its tires screeching and leaving two long black tracks on the road. The speed dropped from 120 to 60 in an instant, and then it swerved into a small alley and disappeared into the night.

Kogoro Mouri was completely dumbfounded.

He stared blankly at the smoking BMW in the rearview mirror, his mouth agape enough to fit an egg.

Only one thought remained in his mind: Is this still a kidnapper?

They've even pulled out the Gatling gun!!

Are they terrorists?
